I bought it, then watched it again and was bored after 5 mins..... :(

I didn't even entertain buying it.Every time I go in Target or someplace similar, there are a million copies .And there were used copies on Amazon a few days after it *came out*. How long before it's relegated to the $15(or under) bins,I wonder?

That they did. I am surprised by the very poor sell-through. Worse than I thought it would be.
They really need to rethink everything for Bond 23. I do not think they can go back to Connery's Bond with Craig. He would be very out of place trying to crack a friendly smile at Moneypenny or whip up lighthearted banter with Q.

Strike up the Band and throw a ticker tape parade!

Quark sold under 100k for week 6 and was humiliated by X-men Vol 1. Yes a cartoon beat the flailing Quark

Another lack luster week of sales for Quark. 7th weeks total fell 19% from last week. It's no Bolt or Marley and Me that's for sure.

Clearly, it needed a bit with a dog (Shakespeare In Love reference for you there).

People love dogs, but not dogs of a movie. ;)

Quark sold under 60k for each of its 8th and 9th weeks.

Taken sold more in its first week than Quark did in 9 weeks. Paul Blart: Mall Cop did more in its first week than Quark did in 4 weeks.

I continue to be amazed by the sharp drop off for this movie.

I'm not. The Bond brand is enough to carry QOS in its first week, but once people actually see it....

QOS is down to a near- bargain basement( $13.99) price at Target. How long before the price gets cut again,I wonder? :P

That is the way it is for most movies, the first week sales are the high water mark. There are a few exception but in general thats how it happens. The fact the first week was so lousy is a hard slap to MGMs face. On top the bad first week the rapid deterioration of the sales is a warning to all involved.
When movies that had BO worldwide will under $200m are handily out sell their 500m production, there are major problems. Not just with this particular product (Quark, on home video), but possibly with their whole Brand. The Bond brand should not have had as poor a outing as this has turned out to be.

The fact it took 6 weeks to break 6 million is rather telling.

Oh I know that, particularly for franchise movies. But some drop-offs are bigger than others, with a film's legs largely depending on word of mouth and repeat viewings, QOS box office performance suggests that few people wanted to see it more than once, or to recommend it to their friends.

Yes, definitely. Quark should have sold over 3m in the first week. Opening with 1.2m is dying with a whimper. Then dying again each successive week with diminishing sales. This really is a movie nobody wants to see again. Part of that is the worthlessness of the story but some of it has to be attributed to the actor in the lead. By far most Bond films fail on some level, but some how they all come through it well, and well liked, because of how the leading actor takes it all in stride. This clearly isn't the case with the new "it's a rotten world after all" formula.

Some would try to assuage Quark's pitiful performance. That's why I point out other movies that should have preformed worse if Quark was a good benchmark for performance, movies that in reality easily blow past Quarks totals.

Taken, for example is a $140m domestic and $220m worldwide, its dvd sales should not be expected to best a $500m movie. And yet it does and then does it again with strong second week sales. Normally when movie like Quark falls on its face in the first week we'd expect it to have legs and do the number in the long run. Clearly it wont and most all of it is because of word of mouth. But then Craig's movies have not sold as well as Brozzas, in America and overseas where DADs broke new ground for DVD sales records.

Brozza still sells, in the last wave of Blu-ray releasesGF,TWINE,MR came as a three pack set and as individuals. By no means did they set blu-ray sales records, they simply were not going to, catalog sales for blu-ray are atrocious. But the signal pack TWINE sold more the the single pack GF, with the three pack taking the lead in that four way race, well 5 way if we count NSNA.
To me TWINEs performance against one of top classic movies , Bond or no, of all time, the Brozza flick did remarkably well, given the givens. OF course I still think GF is over rated.

10 weeks out more of the same. A slight bump in sales but that doesn't really help Quark when they are lethargic to start with.
Under 60k sold in for 10th week, under 2.4million total.

Watch out Quark, some real third tier movies are looking to shame you! At this rate Underworld: Rise of the Lycans will jog past Quarks sales shortly.

Top of the round up this week

Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Taken
Benjamin Button

All relatively new, all with better sales than Quark.

Be sure to let us know the minute that happens, so we can have a good laugh. Ha ha, QOS lost out to a movie starring the Daughter of Godber, an actress whose name on a poster is tantamount to writing "THIS MOVIE IS s**t" in 72pt fluorescent pink letters.
