James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have signed up to produce Remote Control, Sony Pictures has announced.
The pair, who steered Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace with the studio, will oversee production on the thriller.
Based on Mark Burnell's novel, the story centres on a war correspondent-turned-intelligence analyst who becomes part of a Western conspiracy to derail the Chinese economy.
"Our collaboration with Michael and Barbara on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace was extraordinary and special and we all wanted to find another way to work together," said Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrand. "Mark Burnell's new novel is an exciting thriller and it's precisely the kind of material that Michael and Barbara will be able to adapt so well."
Wilson and Broccoli are also working on a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake.

A distinct possibility. Those two have never been able to multitask. I wouldn't be shocked if those two try to run off with the plot and try to "repurpose" it into a Bond film.
This is could be where their weakness as producer will come to the surface. Doubly so if they give it the Quark-Cr treatment, adding political subtext and directors out of their depth and actors miscast. Wouldn't be surprised if Babs is lobbying to get Craig the lead. After all she loves him to pieces
It is a little odd them working with Sony after their partnership with Bond has ended.
Nothing good is going to come of the Broccowilsons trying to juggle several projects at once.Agreed that what doesn't get used for the non-Bond project may be reusedin a bond film after all...badly
Favorite Bond Movie: Octopussy From Russia With Love The Living Daylights On Her Majestys Secret Service Doctor No .... Ah heck all of them
Favorite Movies: Lawrence Of Arabia, Forrest Gump, Jaws, The Shawshank Redemption, Vertigo, The Odd Couple, Zoolander, Cool Hand Luke, The Great Escape...many more.
Location: Well here obviously. At the moment of course
Other than casting Craig as Bond, is this where you faith in Eon diminished?
Michael G Wilson first started with Eon in the early seventies, rising to asscociate producer and writing partner in the early 80's.
Barbara Broccoli first worked I believe on OP as an assistant director, rising to producer in the mid nineties with GE.
I think you could say they've earned there qualifications on knowing Bond.
I'll await the onslaught of typical reply.

Does the world need a remake of Shi..I mean Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?I think not. That and the other non Bond project will sink like a stone. Just look at how the QOS DVD got spanked, saleswise by lesser movies
Michae J. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have done some good work for Bond. Wilson hepled write many of the stories; and I enjoyed the Brosnan Bond moves as they followed the Bond formula. They have lost it a touch since Cubby and Dana Broccoli passed away.
Another adaption of the wonderful Chitty Chitty Bang Bang would be ok by me. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have now reached the stage where they would f**k up a cup of coffee, as the Joe Pesci character in Casino said, but I'm sure a pleasant adaption of Chitty could be made.
One of my problems with the original CCBB was its setting. They chose to set it during the early 20th century(?),and looks dated, whereas in the book it's obviously a more modern setting. And the movie is a LOT darker than the book.
Wilson and Broccoli are also working on a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake.
Re-making Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are they mad?
I'd like to think so.
The first one is a classic. I liked it when I was a kid and now my kids like it. I don't see the demand for a remake or the necessity. It'd be like remaking YOLT, maybe it can be done better but it isn't necessary and it s not a good idea. bang bang Is pure fantasy that works well in the first one.
Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.
A search reveals that that book(not CCBB) the Broccowilsons are adapting isn't on Amazon U.S. The article didn't say anything about it being a best seller. The plot thickens!

It is a 45 year old childrens book, I doubt you'll find Dr Seuss on the best seller list either.
I think it is obvious they are remaking it only becasue they have the rights to and it is not a Bond Film. If it was only about money they'd churn out another Bond and talk about how this time it is like nothing anyone has seen before. Like they have for every Bond film since the 1990's.
They are breaking away from Bond to do two other movies, putting all of their efforts to making them and taking Bond 23 off the stove all together. Craig is going to be retired form Bond long before these two get back to it.
Also If Remote control is any kind of hit they start up that series before goign back to Bond.

Actually, it was Remote Control I was referring to with the "never heard of it" comment

Barbara was obsessed with Daniel Craig and the Jason Bourne series. As she is a producer who can make any movie she wants, it is a shame she did not make a Bourne/arty type spy movie with Daniel Craig, and then continued to make Bond movies.

IMO the vast majorty of spy genre films out there are crap. There are a few exceptions but most are trying too hard.
