The reviews were not as bad either here as were those of TBM, so it is an indication of his lack of box office appeal outside of Bond. At least this one was only a $50 million budget so if it does over $100 million it has a shot at breaking even  . These studios are delusional to think he can carry a film as the main star outside of Bond  .
Flashback of A Fool and Defiance tried to capitalize on Daniel Craig's success as James Bond but flopped big time. As BJMDDS says he does not have much of a career outside Bond. Before anyone tries to suggest Brosnan had a meagre career outside of Bond, he was pigeonholed as a limited actor. Daniel Craig is - so I have been told - a hot, in -demand acting star. The reality is that Daniel Craig was a virtual unknown before Bond. Kate Winslet, like other big actors, can pick and choose her roles. Daniel Craig does not have that luxury. Daniel Craig has a few big Bond paydays left, but cannot seem to develop a career outside of Bond. He is certainly not in the postion to turn down great acting roles as some other posters have suggested.
'She looked sharply up at him. 'And who might you be?'

'My name's Bond, James Bond'.

Even though he's played Bond,I predict a lack of box office hits once he's out of the job.Near obscurity and straight-to-DVD movies await him in his post-Bond career. That is, unless he can have a few non-Bond hits. But I don't see that happening.

You guys pay more attention to what Craig is up to outside Bond than the Pro-Craigers do (including me).....
I couldn't give a toss about seeing his new film. Why? Because the story itself doesn't interest me. Long gone are the days when I would see a film because of the main star itself. These days, I'll see a film depending on either the story, or who the film is directed by.

For instance, the new Brad Pitt flick, Benjamin Button. I'm interested in seeing that, because the story sounds good, not because Pitt is in it. Stick Craig in that film and I'll still want to see it. But it's because of the story itself, not the main actor playing the role.

You guys seem to be paying an unhealthy interest in all things Craig, even outside Bond, and I'm beginning to wonder whether you are all secret, closet Daniel Craig fans....

I don't see why Defiance having a low box office opening should prevent Craig from playing Bond again.
I don't see anything wrong with actors choosing projects that interest them rather than those which will make them the most money. It's the same with Kate Winslet. After Titanic, she could have starred in any number of no-brainer blockbusters, but she preferred to do films like Hideous Kinky and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind instead.
Yuo can always rely on Kris to come up with something rational and intelligent on here....

Normally, the subject matter would be interesting to me, but the reviews have kinda discouraged me.I might watch it when it comes out on DVD so I can watch it at my own leisure(that's what Netflix is for 8) )

TBMQOS was 30th in the USA this weekend and does not run midweek any longer. Factoring in inflation, DAD is a superior box office draw in the USA than BOTH CR and QOS.

It's still playing 4 times a day in Vancouver. And that's just one theatre. It's playing at 8 in total.

Well yeah.Obviously. But I'm surprised it's hanging in there so long and that it's still in a few movie theaters even though it's coming out on video soon.

Japan is it's last chance for additional international market revenue this Saturday. Will it top $20 million there? I do not think so, but with ticket price inflation, we will see. It's run is over, except for Japan. Why do they wait so long to open there any way? An interesting tidbit: weekend 10 QOS just did $334,000 in the USA.....weekend 10, DAD did $713,000 in the USA,in 2003. With such as huge opening for QOS, would anyone think DAD would have more legs than QOS after the opening?

Mamma Mia budget=$52 million;gross box office revenue=$573 million...makes Eon look foolish with their budget......what a gold mine movie with an ex-Bond as a co-star to boot. I want The Topkapi Affair to get into high gear already.
