Craig's new film Defiance was mauled by Empire magazine. That man just can't buy a hit away from Eon/Sony.

I don't know about you, but I think Craig would be better off if he did not work with EON in the first place.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Are you kidding? Without EON, Craig would be a C-list character actor. With them, he'll probably earn enough for a very comfortable retirement.FormerBondFan wrote:I don't know about you, but I think Craig would be better off if he did not work with EON in the first place.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I would have thought him plumping for varied, off-beat roles would be a sign of a decent actor. And no, I don't know him personally, but I sense so much hate on here for an actor, sometimes it borders on sinister. The guy is blonde, not conventionally handsome, comes across fairly no-nonsense in interviews, and has been chosen to play a character in a long-running franchise which goes against the typically chosen types gone before him. And that's it. An actor being chosen to play a role in a film. That's it. Nothing more.Mazer Rackham wrote:]He was a dick about it in the interview. Why are you defending him? Do you know him personally? He was an ass and pompous thus garbage as a person. He put it down because it was hard and he didn't wanna do hard any more cause now he's accomplished.
Why the f**k does the charge of the Craig brigade feels the need to make it personal is beyond me. If I don't like him and say he is a overrated actor then I must have personal animus against him!
That BS about the screen actors not doing theater. It's a mark of accomplishment and ability to do real theater not the other way around. Screen actors are the prima donnas of the acting world and Craig nailed it.
You might wanna consider why he does off-beat roles. That his whole damned portfolio if full of them, one of the few somewhat normal roles is Bond and that was made off-beat to suit him.
Sometimes on here you'd think the guy was wanted for murder or something.

I really dont understand the worship of Craig as an actor, he is increadibly wooden and unengaging! He must the charisma actor next to Keanu Reeves. Still different stroke for different folks i guess! i just dont get "it"Mazer Rackham wrote:Not a chance of him doing any real acting. He made real poncy comment that he'd never do stage work again because he'd have to memorize the lines.Kristatos wrote:Either that or panto ("I really wanted to get to the heart of what motivates Widow Twankey. What a piece of garage!

I think Keanu is WAY more wooden than Craig(who's plenty wooden himself

QOS finished 8th on Sunday, $910,000, barely ahead of Milk to boot, in the USA. It is far behind in Australia and the UK and Gremany and with inflation factored in will NEVER top CR. Christmas week 2006 was a BIG boost for CR. I said by Christmas this year this film might be done, and it appears so. We shall see how the theatres counts drop prior to next week's run.

Would all be pleased right now with Hugh Jackman taking over for Bond 23 IF Broccoli gave DC the b-o-o-t, given Jackman's new found status worldwide?

Mamma Mia just topped Titanic as the biggest grossing film EVER in the UK! I guess Pierce still has his stuff.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
You really think Brozza was the only factor? Would it have done less without him? It did great business, but I believe it had more to do with the fact that it was based on a hit musical featuring music by ABBA, and not Brozza alone. Heck my mom wanted to go see Mamma Mia but because she was a huge ABBA fan. If Brosnan is the case, it makes me wonder why the rest of his non-Bond films didn't do that good. That's like saying everyone went to see The Dark Knight because Aaron Eckhart was the biggest draw.bjmdds wrote:Mamma Mia just topped Titanic as the biggest grossing film EVER in the UK! Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Brozza was the only reason for the huge success of Mamma Mia. Didn't you know, Stocks? It was HIS film. He owned it.
The only reason people flocked to the cinema in droves was to see Brozza sing. There was no other reason whatsoever. Forget Abba.
It was all down to Brozza.....

Why on earth was Brosnan hired for an adaption of a cult, popular musical? Was he cheap? Did he do it for free? It was not for his singing. No, it was because he is a popular cult figure.

Bring back Bond!

I think they wanted a charming, handsome, leading man type. In short, someone completely unlike Daniel Craig.carl stromberg wrote:Why on earth was Brosnan hired for an adaption of a cult, popular musical? Was he cheap? Did he do it for free?
