I hate the "Jerk Cam" crappola, it is way over used (recently anyway). I don't care for it in Bourne but some how for Bourne that style camera work and editing works.

The last movie to do that(and a big offender acccording to people who have seen it)was Cloverfield. Luckily the movie studios seem to be getting the message that it's old hat.That,and torture porn.But what with another Bourne film in the future, it will probably have a renaissance and probably will be in Bond 23. Or it could be very outre and they do it anyways.

Not half way through I gave up on Cloverfield.

And apparently people were complaining about it with Cloverfield. If they had a LOT of it(ala the Bourne films)in a Bond film I would get a refund and leave.

Well. Ok this is not a small film, but I love Bond. So I’m going to make an exception.

I can watch any of the 007 movies with delight. OK. Not ‘Octopussy’ or ‘A View to a Kill’, so apart from those two.

Hell, I even liked Lazenby and Dalton, and I really rated Daniel Craig’s interpretation.

‘Casino Royale’ also broke the general Bond rule of thumb:

weak theme tune = weak movie

I can’t even remember its theme tune, and I suspect I won’t remember the theme tune to ‘Quantum of Solace’ either. It is not good. Come on Bond producers, let David Arnold do his stuff!

Anyway I digress.

Plot wise this continues straight on from ‘Casino Royale’ and Bond’s attempt to take revenge on the mysterious organisation responsible for Vesper’s death. If you haven’t seen it recently you’ll be totally lost. And this story is not easy to follow.

The screening was packed. Expectations after ‘Casino Royale’ were high.

And I wasn’t going to let the goons wandering up and down the aisles Bond fashion with infra-red binoculars on the lookout for anyone filming with a camera or cellphone put me off neither.

So after 1 hour and 46mins why am I so underwhelmed? I wanted to love it! God d**n you Mr Forster! You’ve made great movies!

The film just didn’t flow, if you know what I mean. It didn’t have rhythm. It wasn’t long enough and it suddenly came to a halt.

But most of all it was the action sequences that annoyed me. Brilliantly staged with unbelievable skill and some lovely throw away stunts. Must have taken months to plan. So why edit them to an inch of their life so that they are virtually incomprehensible? Sure the technique can add energy, but here it just drains the excitement away. I want to be able to see and comprehend what’s going on. And be impressed. And excited.

I mean what the hell was going on? Where did the door on the Aston Martin go? I must have literally blinked at the moment it got ripped off and missed it. For about 30 seconds I was thinking that it was a bit of dodgy film making in an attempt to get a good angle of Daniel Craig driving the car.

Bond falls through the roof chasing a villain. Cool. They’ve got caught in a rope and hanging upside down. Alright! He’s runn-, no he’s fight-, no he’s- . This looks like spectacular stuff. Eh? The girders moving. Eh? He’s going for the gun…

Oh. It’s over.

Bond takes out 3 guys in an elevator. I don’t need to see a 3 second sequence with a 100 cuts! All Bond’s fighting skills are lost! Cut Oliver Hardy like this and even he can have awesome fighting prowess.

Ah. I guess that explains why the film was so short.

All the action sequences are cut like they are for a trailer. Not a film. I want to shout this out from the highest mountains:

Never in a million years would Bond dump the Body of his pal in dumpster. And with how he felt about Mathis, WTF?!
He felt bad about that damned Mexican he killed in Goldfinger.

They want to have coldblooded, psychotic Bond and the only way they can is to claim it's Fleming's Bond.

Bond was bit darker in the books but he also was given to whimsy and a romantic at heart. Most of the Bond girls of the Books he falls for in some way.

Direction was none existent, who the hell put that hack in charge of an action film. it managed to be even worse than Casino Royale! never agian will i watch a Bond movie that takes this tack, Bond is most definitly dead R.I.P

Maybe I need to see the scene where Mathis dies and Bond throws his body into a dumpster to get the context of the situation.Or not, and that it seems totally out of character for Bond(more likely).

It took the Princes presence to give this film a kick start at the premiere. CR topped $100million at the UK box office, will this pile of mimicry? Bottom line Nash, I was correct in my advanced naming of Bond 22 as The Bourne Mimicry. Does "The Bond Ultimatum" come next?

Problem with following up your fist Bond movie is that Pierce, Seans & Roger made it look easy.Expectations are high.

Just to say that i havn't forgotten to review QOS.............but i will need to see it again to be able to
comment properly......

..........because the film travelled at such a high warp speed... i probably missed a lot of things!!!

Since i've seen the film, i have viewed some of the sequences on the web.......and surpisingly its a lot
easier on the eyes on the small screen.

My advice to anyone going to see QOS.......is to sit at the back of the theatre, and be totally alert.....
otherwise you could come out boss eyed and brainwashed.

Its amazing how mixed the reviews for this film are...........i think that the producers used QOS as an
experiment for direction and current in vogue film techniques, knowing that the film as a footnote to CR
and its success would be able to fall back on that film......rather than risk this approach on a complete
new Bond adventure.

If I were sitting at the back of the theatre I might walk out at the start of Keyes voice. It sounds like a Star Wars fast paced collection of action shots with little dialogue. Arthur, tell me what is Bondian about this film SPECIFICALLY, to you, outside Dench as a novice M.
