Here's one from a member at CBn. Probably the most in-depth review I've read so far on QOS. He even compares it to FRWL -

The fanboys at Cbn are going to prop this film up no matter how average it is. They praised DAD when it came out.

Err..............not being funny, but i've only read a couple of so called negative reviews, and they were immediately after the press screening, all the others have been very positive, and the last few reviews i've
read in the papers have high praise for DC and QOS........

............so i'am now looking forward to the film even more.

Mind you to prove i'am not biased, if the film is poor i'll will mention it!!!

It is a bit off to claim that there have been only two negative reviews. The UK reviews have put the boot into Craig's rebooted Bond.

Are you claiming that only ratings under 50% can be classed as negative?

Well you know my opinions on DAD. But I'd still rather trust a dedicated hardcore Bond fan's review, over a general film reviewer's opinion. Expectations are somewhat different.

Not gonna happen I'm afraid bj.
Craig is not a problem. Fans like him, critics like him, the general public like him. Who knows this could be a great Bond film. I can't say I haven't seen it yet. But I'll be sure to post an honest review as soon as I do.

Not everyone likes him :? Revisionist history, much? And how can you say the critics like him, after seeing some of the reviews of QOS? :cuss:

The less than positive reviews of QOS have been pointed to aspects of the film, NOT the lead actor!!

Exactly! If there is one thing most of the reviews have in common, negative or positive, it is their praise of Craig as Bond, despite what they think about the film itself.

The Times review (in the Craig section) says he is weakest link in the film. A lot of reviews seem to be complaining that Bond is now a dull robot running around like Jason Statham. They may be reluctant to be critical of Craig (maybe they still feel sorry for him after all the flak he got a few years ago) but if QOS does suffer from a grim monotone Bond with no humour then the actor playing him is surely to blame to some degree.

To be fair to Cbn, another member there mentioned he saw the film a few days ago. He said it was crap and a 2 out of 5 film.

Just seen this review, which is very praising of the film.................but why i'am posting it is to prove further the
contradicting reviews on QOS so far... :?

i.e this reviewer says there is humour in this film, and also that there are some meaty dialogue scenes........

But i was dissapointed to read that some of the action scenes were somewhat blighted by over fast quick close-up editing.

Blimey...........i've said it once and i'll say it again........when i go to see a film i want to be able to see whats going on,
and not to be brainwashed by hundreds of quick film flashes...........when will the directors of today stop doing this.....or
is it me?

Oh yes, the reviewer did say that DC 'mumbles' some of his lines (oops i shouldn't of mentioned that bit)

AB

ps: David Arnold's score is apparently very good

Exactly! If there is one thing most of the reviews have in common, negative or positive, it is their praise of Craig as Bond, despite what they think about the film itself.
Craig has gotten high marks for bad acting for years now. The mark of good actor is taking a bad movie and making it enjoyable becasue of their onscreen presence. The mark of bad actor is taking a enjoyable movie and making it listless and mundane by being there. (Paul Walker, I'm looking in your direction)
Golden Compass is panned but somehow Craig did a great job even though according to some he look out of place. Invasion is in the same boat, however a few did complain his on screen chemistry with the leading ladies was not to be found. Every other movie he has been in he was forgettable.

He should have been unforgettable, like Butler and the other Bond contenders passed over were and are.

More over the complaints about QOS speak directly to his vision for Bond and how he decided to play Bond. The narrative is stuck on stupid but eventually it will not be the critics hold him up but the consumer holding him back. Craig needs a hit outside Bond in the worst way. Until then he is Jason Statham lite and Bourne the elder.

Mumbles "some" of his lines? In a Batman film, he would play the MUMBLER, Batman's newest arch enemy, someone who talks but no one knows what the heck he is saying. Craig's days as Bond are dwindling as TBM gets ready for it's big Friday release and Nash, Sweeney, and EA, etc., can all sit through the short film and tell us all:  or

LOL @ "The Mumbler". Whether the rigid pro-Craigs want to admit it or not,Craig DOES mumble.A lot.

Here's a idea for Bond 23: Daniel Craig is Ian Fleming's James Bond in: "Let's Get Ready To Mumble"
