So, what roles WOULD Craig be good in?

That sounds fairly typical. Craig's staunchest defenders tend to be people who either think all the previous Bond filmes sucked or who haven't enjoyed a Bond film in a very long time.

Daniel Craig is great as lunatics/oddballs in European low-budget films. Maybe he could do some Bruce Payne style villian parts. He is certainly not suitable for leading man/hero roles.

To be honest, I'm not a great fan of him in any of his films, although I have yet to watch Munich.

Kristatos is right that Craig's biggest fans seemed to be those who hate all the bond films bar Dalton's efforts and the first few.

And where would you place me Kristatos?
I enjoy most Bond films. Even two of the Brosnan movies
But you'll be hard pressed to find a Bond fan who thought all the Bond films sucked before Craig and Casino Royale came to the rescue.

There used to be a couple on AFJB (probably still are, I don't hang out there much these days, so I wouldn't know). And there are many more among the ranks of the critics, who, pre-Craig, tended to be very sniffy about Bond films.

In that case there must be one hell of a lot of people who haven't enjoyed a Bond film in a long time then.....

The first few meaning the classic Bond films. Yes, you are probably right.

Gotta confess, when I hear people say "I only like the Fleming novels, and a couple of the films", I wonder how many are telling the truth and how many are just showing off - the Bond forum equivalent of walking round with a battered Penguin Classic tucked into your back pocket.

Gee, that must be it! Bond fans who like Craig are not Bond fans, but they are Craig fans who happen to hate all 20 of the previous films. Great logic, you totally threw us all into one.

I like Craig as Bond but I do not think he is the best. That spot goes for Connery and if Craig keeps it up with his next few films he might just get ahead of Connery for me. But we'll see. Seriously, that's the most dumb statement I have ever heard. Is it that difficult to accept that people who like Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan can like Craig too?

Joe 90 near the end of his career obviously  How about Craig in a biopic on the life of Mark E Smith?

It's possible, but you rarely hear it said. On Bond forums other than this one, no post praising CR seems complete without a snide dig at most or all of the previous 20 films, which Craig/CR fans seem to regard with the same sense of embarrasment that pubescent boys feel for their Action Men (or GI Joes, for any Americans reading) once they discover girls.

Great Post Kris. Totally agree. :)

The majority of Bond fans haven't read the books and most became fans from the cinematic Bond. I got into Bond from watching Sir Rog and he remains my fav even though I've read most of the novels. Yet quite a number of the novel lovers constantly try to undermine peoples opinions that don't follow the mainstream. I personally consider GL to be sh*t yet he starred in one of the better Bond movies. Yet on other forums he is considered better than SC and RM. :?

Correction, a snide dig at DAD which is highly understandable. I don't remember anyone saying "From Russia with Love sucked, Casino Royale was much better!"

I have yet to see any evidence of that Luke. Lazenby may not be your cup of tea granted, but on both CBn and Mi6 you'll be hard pushed to find a member who would call GL number 1.

There are loads of members in the GL (Ass kissing) club. How many people are in the Lazenby Bandwagons etc etc...

Another embarassing, childish dig at Bond fans who like the new Bond as much as previous Bonds.

Comments like this do the anti Craigers no favours whatsoever, and this includes suggestions that the anti Craig fans are intelligent Bond fans too, and they have a right to voice their opinions.

Comments like this have led to CnB, Mi6 and AJB Bond fans getting pi**ed off with anti Craig opinions - and quite rightly so!

And anti Craig fans wonder why they are given such a hard time on other Bond sites. Is it really any wonder why when comments like this are made. It doesn't take a genius or a degree in rocket science to figure out why.....
