Overwhelming? CR did do well, but let's not get carried away.

Nahh get carried away The Sweeney, Casino Royale was a bigger hit than anyone could possibly imagine.
As for the screentest have you seen any of the other actors when they won the role? Or the competition they were up against?
Didn't think so.

The Sam Neil screen test footage was a nice addition to Living Daylights DVD.
Personally I would like to see the screen tests for Pierce Brosnan (before and after 1986) as well as the other contenders.

Perhaps we will on the Blu-Ray collectors edition of the Bond DVDs in 2010.

I would say overwhelming. It's broke BO records, DVD records, the first Bond ever to be nominated for awards, and just about all critics from major magazines/newspapers loved it. Oh yes, and most Bond fans on the internet said it was one of the best (if not the best) Bond film ever made, and Craig is as good (if not better) than Connery.

Or did you expect CR to do even better than this.....

as popular as Casino Royale is, i believe it's a very few who think that Craig is better than Connery. when you say James Bond, most still think of Connery. as I've said before, let's see how Craig does in the follow up films before we start crowning him the greatest Bond ever. the next film could always turn out to be another Moonraker, as doubtful as that may be, for all you know.

I agree with you Paco.
Connery will always be the number 1 Bond. But Daniel Craig has already left a mark on the series. Like it or not he'll be Bond for the rest of our days. He's in an elite club with only six members to date.
Judging by the reaction of the debut, the follow up will have to be big. But I'm sure that again Craig and Eon will have the last laugh.

The fact that Daniel Craig is going to make three or four James Bond movies certainly doesn't amuse me.

Oh well, I'm sure you'll live.
Still got along way to go yet. What must be even more annoying for you is that no-one knows how long Daniel Craig will stay in the role.
Some of you will be bald by the end of it.

I have searching the iternet to see if I could find a ConneryIs NotBond site and I can't seem to find one. :? Neither could I find one for good old George, Sir Rog, Dalton or your personal favourite PB.

Apparently there was no such thing as the internet back in 1962, or in 1969, or in 1973, or in 1987 - and by 1995 was still a fairly new concept.

Just thought I'd mention that too....

Ok, let's forget about DVD sales then. Let's just focus on the critics reviews, Bond forum reviews, nominated awards, general internet reviews and the BO takings instead.....

Oh they're easily forgotten The Sweeney, you should know that.
Of course reviews from people like Zolly Becker (the freaky twunt) are plentiful.

Critics reviews and nominated awards are not a yard stick I'd measure a Bond film against. Although It does shows that the film was successfull.

BO takings are also insignificant compared to Admissions. I know Craig had higer admissions than PB, but Sir Rog still beat him on his first outing.

BTW - The power of the internet is still available for all the Bonds. You could start a PierceBrosnanWasNeverBond.com.

You should know by now how much I enjoy myself here to have time for any other sites. Besides Brosnan as Bond is old news.

With that in mind what happens to this place when Bond #7 is cast?
The site will become yesterdays news will it not?

I think this forum has evolved from the title. Whether that was planned or wanted, I don't know.
