I don't think it is so strange, and I don't have a hard time understanding either. Craig looks nothing like the previous actors, and he is not dark haired either. Also, the shift in character in CR is very different to the typical Moore/Brosnan Bond.

This is not difficult to understand at all. My post earlier was to do with the pre-2005 comments. Everyone has moved on since then. Surely the argument now is why you didn't like Craig in CR, and probably QOS too. Instead, the posts were sounding like I had just had a trip in Doc Brown's Delorian....
But surely the reactions in "2005" concerned Daniel Craig's wrong look for Bond and his unsuitability as a young Bond.

99% of the complaints I read about Craig as Bond in CR concern: his wrong look for Bond and his unsuitability as a young Bond.....

I'm wondering why Craig is often seen as a supposedly young Bond.
Just because he's a rookie OO7 why does he have to be a young Bond?
I know that there was press talk before Craig was cast, and some of the other contenders whether legitimate or press rubbish were younger than Craig, but I don't recall anything from Eon or official to say he was suppoesd to be a young man.
Infact I seem to recall that on the CR website they had Bond being born in 1968???
Anyway, my point was that just because he's a new Bond, doesn't mean he has to be a youngster.

But I find now that arguments post CR hold a lot more weight, whether they basically fall down to the same things or not. At least if someone states why they didn't think Craig was right in CR after seeing the movie, I give them a lot more credit. That was always my argument with anti-Craig fans pre-CR. See the guy first, then judge.

These posts were sounding like something straight out of 2005 again, as though they still hadn't seen CR yet. That was all I was commenting on.

Exactly. The young Bond concept was scrapped.

Because the posts I was referring to were not mentioning Craig's performance in CR. It sounded like they were still stuck in a timewarp somewhere, mid-Oct 2005.

What was all that nonsense about showing DC shooting someone to get his first kill and Dench talking to him as if he was a teenage hooligan? They planned CR to be a young Bond reboot film and then Broccoli insisted on Craig. End result? A botched reboot film with an actor who looks older than the other Bonds on debut.

Will we still be talking about this reboot concept after QOS, I wonder.

We do now have a new Bond film on the horizon to discuss, instead of CR which has been exhausted to death! I just can't wait for it to be released, so there can be new arguments to debate, rather than these old hat, yesterdays news ones....

M has always treated Bond like that, it's the authority act to let Bond know his place.

Don't be silly. Here is a quote from one of the typical bulls**t reviews that came out around the time of the movies release.
Bond is now a young agent, unseasoned and undisciplined, who has only recently been elevated to double-0 status.

It's not lie, Daniel Craig is 15 years Brosnans junior. He's younger.
