How many films for Craig?

Post by ID »

How many Bond films do you think we'll have to endure, I mean have with Craig. He's signed for three isn't he? He did say he wanted to do three and get on with his life. He strikes me as a private person who would probably get more of a kick out of a good play or indie film than be the star of ten 007 flicks.

He's signed for three. It's possible he could do another but I'm really not sure that he will.

2 for sure. duh :)
might walk away after that. He could walk away tomorrow for all we know.
Bond annoys Craig, he has no love for it and is embarrassed by bond.
In the past Bond actors got more work because they are 007 that or get stuck as bond because nobody wants to see him out side of it.
IF DCs job offers dry up he will saty as long as he can. IF he has better paying offers-better roles he may call in sick and stay gone.

No... he'll do three for sure. I doubt he will opt out of his contract.

Bond annoys Craig? WTF? There is no evidence whatsoever that would say that. Incredibly dumb thing to say.

And honestly, Craig has had, I believe, two great roles offered to him since CR and will continue to get these roles because he's a good enough actor to escape the typecasting problem.

Before he got the role Craig said Bond has got to change.
Now he says Bond is sexist, bond is this and that, none of it good. At the awards he was upset with being associated Bond.
"Daniel sees himself as a serious classically-trained actor who spent three years with the RSC, and brought real depth to the role of Bond.”
When Brosnan talked about Bond he was full of good things to say about the character, he liked Bond. Craig gives no sense of liking Bond.
For him it’s a job that pays well and beneath him otherwise.

Well Craig did change the role from what the Brosnan era did to the character. He brought the Bond movies back from senseless 90's action movies to a series about the character.

I don't ever remember Craig being upset being associated with Bond at the BAFTAs. He was upset because people were being idiots.

There's no evidence of Craig having no sense of liking Bond either. Just because people were acting like asses towards him at the BAFTAs doesn't mean that he doesn't like the character.

Well, it's true. Bond is sexist, it's even commented on in the films ("you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur."), Bond even agrees. So Craig saying this is nothing new.

I believe his signed for three, with an option for more. :D
So potentially (going on an every other year time scale) a minimum of 2010. But if he really got into the role, enjoyed himself and the fans enjoyed his films. Theres no reason he couldn't play the role untill he's in his late forties or even fifties. Like Connery and Moore.
That takes us upto say Bond 26/27 in 2016/2018.
Scary thing is, it's not impossible.

If he carries on in the style of CR, he will be the oldest rampaging Juvenile in the history of film. :)

Juvenile? Please . His Bond wasn't shown as experianced as the others, for good reason, but he was just as mature as them, more so than Brosnan and Moore's portrayal.

His style has to change. There needs to be more refinement in his next films. If he adopts a more traditional approach, I will potentially accept him as Bond and discount CR like I did David Niven's version. 8)

Do you think that Craig will want to make four films? What sort of Bond would he have become in his fourth film?

Potentially a great Bond, on par with Connery.
That is of course if he wants to make four.
But if he continues to be as popular as OO7, then it only stands to reason that his films will become bigger and bigger. It could see the rebirth of the Bond phenomenon of the 60's.
It all depends on the direction and reaction Bond 22 gets. If it's successful then a Goldfingeresque third films could be on the cards.

Which is precisely why I think he'll work out his contract and then leave while he's still young enough to get leading man roles elsewhere.
