We haven't though, only speculated, there's no proof and so the message on the main page should be removed. Just because people said "out of the millions, 10000+ could have walked out" it's no basis in fact, and nothing to do with the boycott. The same could easily be said for Brosnan's films.carl stromberg wrote:So we have established that 10000+ people of the millions worldwide who watched Casino Royale left the cinema early because they didn't like the film.

A group of people started this thread complaining about the statement that:

I think we have ascertained that some people walked out of Casino Royale beicause they were unhappy. Are people suggesting that every single person who watched Casino Royale loved it? Why are they obsessed with this statement? What's their point? Why is it offensive?Tens of thousands of movie goers walked out of movie
theaters in protest.

I can tell you why it's offensive. It's offensive for the same reason any propaganda is offensive - because it's a deliberate attempt to present an unverifiable statement as fact to support your cause, and therefore try to influence people's opinions.carl stromberg wrote:A group of people started this thread complaining about the statement that:

Bottom line is that there is not one shred of valid evidence anywhere that this "boycott" was responsible for "tens of thousands of movie goers" to walk out in "protest", yet that is exactly what the creators of this site would like us to believe.
They might as well have used "Billions" instead of "Millions" in the line "Millions of people made a strong statement..." and how do they support the bit about the boycott having an undeniable effect on CR's box office number? Did they publish how many people signed up for the boycott? To account for the supposed loss of $20,000,000 in potential ticket sales that they're claiming, they must have had 2,000,000 participants, but again, not a shred of evidence to support any of this.
Propaganda is offensive, and these tactics are exactly why this "boycott" will never be taken seriously.
I just saw a friends dvd of CR. After the airport scene there really is'nt any action until the last 10 mintues. A wait of over an hour. The only thing that kept me watching was the expectation of big finale. This is a Bond movie afterall. The final action scene was not worth the wait. I can understand why some people may have walked out of the cinema. Probably around the time Craig decided he loved Vesper.Max Taffey wrote:I can tell you why it's offensive.
