Personally, I can always find something to enjoy in even the worst pre-Craig Bond film. The Craig films, though, with the possible exceptions of parts of CR and Skyfall, are irredeemable.

On this day in 1962, at Laughing Waters, Jamaica, Ursula Andress made her entrance as Honey Ryder walking out of the sea in DR. NO.......those were the days! https://x.com/i/status/2020513015380996224 Andress' spoken dialogue was dubbed by Nikki Van der Zyl due to Andress' heavy accent, and her singing voice was dubbed by Diana Coupland.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Same. For example, in the case of AVTAK, Zorin and May Day are far more entertaining villains than they have any right to be and it boasts a really strong score. I also enjoy viewing the film as an attempt to portray an aging 007 in a changing world. I even think it works better as a riff on that theme than the similar attempts that were tried during the Craig era.Kristatos wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 10:17 pm Personally, I can always find something to enjoy in even the worst pre-Craig Bond film. To me, Quantum of Solace is the worst Bond film for the simple fact it doesn't really work as a stand-alone entry. So it fails as a Bond film and also doesn't really work as a Bourne-style action film, essentially failing on every level.

AI will now take over the internet! The next Bond film has been cast by AI! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngntvfc ... rt_radio=1. The song is not half bad.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I've been seeing some ridiculous clickbait nonsense recently, inclusing a story posted today which seemed to think that Barbara Broccoli is still in charge of casting Bond! Needless to say, I didn't share it, and I encourage others here to adopt the same policy. I know we're all impatient waiting for news, but let's not sieze on non-stories containing weasel words like "sources report" ot "according to industry chatter". Spreading them only encourages these grifters, and dilutes the impact of real news when it comes.

Good points. I will never understand why AVTAK gets so much hate. It has a few corny bits but so do lots of the other Bond films.Jake wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 8:35 am For example, in the case of AVTAK, Zorin and May Day are far more entertaining villains than they have any right to be and it boasts a really strong score. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I think it just boils down to people knowing Moore was too old for the role at that point and therefore refusing to suspend disbelief. For example, even in a film like Die Hard, it's clearly evident whenever Bruce Willis is being doubled. However, you also know Willis was young enough for the role so it's easier to overlook.acid wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 7:18 pmGood points. I will never understand why AVTAK gets so much hate. If the action sequences had been better tailored to address Moore's age, the film would likely have a better reputation, imo. It's actually a fairly grounded Bond film that allows Bond to do more spying than usual while also serving as a natural transition to the Dalton era. (Complete with heightened violence and a more sociopathic villain, much to Moore's dismay.)

Saw Wuthering Heights today. Definitely not for everyone. Jacob Elordi has..certain charms but is not Bond-worthy.

https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/st ... ond-berlin kinda think we're getting Turner. At least his ears are reminsent of Lazenby.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
"I can't talk about it" certainly suggests that he's in the running, but we've already been told that a decision won't be made until the summer, so I don't think it's a done deal just yet. I certainly hope it isn't him. I don't think I can face another 20 years of "x is not Bond".Jason wrote:https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/st ... ond-berlin kinda think we're getting Turner.
