Very similar. I’m kind of in between keto and carnivore (the months when I only eat *just* animal products (like the Fall through Spring months), and then I’ll slip closer to keto in late Spring through late Summer (although I probably have even less carbs than Keto; and my carbs mainly come from fruit and very, very limited veg)Kristatos wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2024 4:44 pm Is this the keto diet that I've heard some people talking about?

Pluto, enjoy pizza? Kids were taught to eat all of your veggies. Not a good idea.

BJ,my niece was telling me the other day she tried Pad Se Ew!
I could probably do that carnivore diet. When I was in Dallas I ordered a rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw and barely touched the sides. Was there more for the ribs!

I enjoy pizza, but only in Italy. The stuff elsewhere makes me bloat and feel ill.bjmdds wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:07 am Pluto, enjoy pizza? Kids were taught to eat all of your veggies. Not a good idea.
Saying that, the last time I was in Italy was six-plus years ago, so, I haven't had a pizza slice since then. And I don't miss it (there's no temptation for me to eat it anywhere but in Italy).
As for veggies: if I feel like eating some that are low in inflammation properties, I will partake, but it's probably less than 1% of my yearly consumption. I get more bioavailable nutrients in my raw liver and other organs I eat. Just consider this: something like 97-98% of all plants on this earth are poisonous or harmful to us.
The opposite is true when discussing animal foods.
I have been eating this way for two decades. I do blood labs every twelve weeks. My body composition sees me at single digits in fat percent, and I train six days a week. Hormones are all functioning at optimal rates (similar to a man in his late 20s (I'm in my late 40s)). I have no plaque issues in my heart (I do yearly scans), my cholesterol is in normal range, I don't suffer bloating or gastrointestinal issues commonly found in the contemporary diet.
When I feel like fruit, I have it.
If I feel like veggies (rarely), I will.
I enjoy a cocktail with the wife every now and again. And I'll share a dessert with her. But I don't have cravings for this stuff, and I partake very irregularly.
I dunno. I'm a strong advocate of eating the way our forefathers did, our hunter/gatherers did, as it aligns closer to the way our bodies were meant to consume foods (not a lot of veggies, animal based, head to toe consumption, and berries and fruits when we could find them).
It works for me.
Most days I don't need it (I'm usually in natural ketosis).
Re: The food thread
Exactly, sides are just fillers. They're usually low in nutrients, but they stuff you and bloat you.kater23 wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:07 pm BJ,my niece was telling me the other day she tried Pad Se Ew!

You ate instinctually. You devoured the ribs!! Your body had no value for the other stuff!!
Re: The food thread
What you describe sounds like the paleo diet. Though I suspect that you may have overestimated the ratio of hunting to gathering in a hunter-gatherer society. Such societies still exist in some of the remoter parts of the world, and I don't think they eat as much meat as people in modern Western societies. It takes a lot more effort to hunt large animals than to forage for nuts and berries, and hunts often fail.

The paleo diet has far more veggies, especially root veggies. I am more carnivore/animal based.Kristatos wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:24 pm What you describe sounds like the paleo diet. I follow a doctor who actually lived amongst the Hadza tribe and documented it. This is a hunter gatherer tribe and their main source of food is primarily animals (including monkeys— which I would never do), then berries and honey.
@katie, I believe you. I love when ribs fall off the bone (I go into a Homer Simpson state of being (slumps back in chair, eyes roll, drool becomes a waterfall)….

Outside of film production, I am a bit of a health nut. If what I post comes off as sounding uppity, or superior, that's not the intent. I wasn't being sarcastic. You obviously know more about this subject than I do.Pluto007 wrote:Outside of film production, I am a bit of a health nut. Between Aug. 1, 2023, and Aug. 2, 2024, U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service personnel found “heavy discolored meat buildup" and “meat overspray on walls and large pieces of meat on the floor.” They also documented flies “going in and out” of pickle vats and “black patches of mold” on a ceiling. One inspector detailed blood puddled on the floor and “a rancid smell in the cooler.” Plant staff were repeatedly notified that they had failed to meet requirements, the documents showed. I will have fried TOFU pad se ew Saturday night in a Thai restaurant in Parsippny NJ before we go to the LEADEAST car and 50's convention at the same hotel as the October Chiller Theatre convention.kater23 wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 5:07 pm BJ,my niece was telling me the other day she tried Pad Se Ew!

Disgusting. The industrial "farming" practices are torture to animals, evil and inhumane.bjmdds wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:39 pm Between Aug. Re: The food thread
I noted that my cousin’s kids are not allowed to have anything with red food dye. One(their older two are boy girl twins) is on the autism spectrum so that may be some of it.
I think about how much artificial stuff I ate, being a child of the 70’s and 80’s, and shudder.

Re: The food thread
I was browsing in a bookshop recently, and I came across a book that looked quite interesting, about the addictive nature of ultra-processed "foods". Foolishly, I failed to make a note of the title and author. There was a whole chapter on Pringles - apparently, the slogan "once you pop, you can't stop" is not just empty hype.
