Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
“The Marvels,” which stars three women—Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani—as the leads, opened in theaters last week and fell far below box office expectations, grossing just $46 million domestically in what is now Marvel’s worst opening weekend! “The Marvels” also fell short of expectations at the international box office with $63.3 million from 51 territories for a worldwide start of $110 million. Disney had hoped to generate at least $140 million globally over the weekend. And even that wouldn’t have been great for a tentpole that cost roughly $220 million to produce and $100 million to promote the film to audiences across the globe.......another woke bust by Hollywood and now the Marvel series as well. They just don't get it. It looks like they tried a diverse female cast of condescending superheroes and very few bought it and it bombed. Good riddance to this junk. Brie Larson has a problem with white male critics as well. Wokeness is a 'niche' thought globally, but the morons actually believe it to be the norm! NOT!!!!!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
And yet Wonder Woman and the original Captain Marvel were hits, not to mention Barbie outside the superhero genre. While there have been a string of flops in franchises with white male leads, like the most recent Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible films. So whatever the reason for The Marvels flopping, a female principal cast ain't it.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Brie Larson isn’t the draw they want to pretend she is. The first movie was a prequel for Nick fury, and tied in to other marvel movies.
They really didn’t build up the capt marvel in the movies, she come in endgame over powered and sanctimonious. There should literally be 30
Years of her adventures but she was kind of photo bombing popular movies . Part of the problem is the actress , the other is I don’t think Disney /marvel knew where to put this story arc .
There’s a string of lousy marvel movies , eternals, dr strange, love and thunder were bad.
Wakanda and antman quantumania were good, actually a good fit for the last movies phase and the teaser for quantumania set up from Loki which like wandavision was a great series. Unfortunately the director of dr strange two never watched it and used the Wanda character in the wrong way.
Bottom line for me is Brie Larson and cpt marvel were more pretentious than actually delivering a story. I don’t think they built up an audience. I think the character like wonder woman could be popular it’s just not the right actress, they went for a name they wanted over good for the role .

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
“The Marvels” cratered by 79% to land another ignominious record: the biggest second-weekend drop (by far) in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before this weekend, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” withstood the largest decline of the franchise with 69.9%. After notching the worst start in the entire MCU, “The Marvels” tied for third place with $10.2 million from 4,030 theaters, bringing its domestic tally to $65 million. The $220 million-plus budgeted tentpole is the rare Marvel movie to underperform at the box office, and part of the problem is that it’s bearing the brunt of the audience’s fatigue toward this sprawling franchise. But at this rate, it may not even match the opening weekend of its predecessor, 2019’s “Captain Marvel” ($153 million), by the end of its theatrical run. It’s shaping up to be the first MCU movie to fall short of $100 million at the domestic box office........they just do not get it! WOKE does not sell. When the liberal left-wing has even lost Bill Maher, it is curtains for their ideology. The cast of The Marvels looks like amateurish high school actors.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Marvel movies are not fool proof, dc same character set, some would argue marvel ripped off a lot from dc, but they rushed and got caught in the trap of not audience fatigue but assuming the audience would buy whatever you were selling under the name.

Christopher Nolan Says He’s Not Directing Next James Bond: "Sadly, no truth to those rumors," says the 'Oppenheimer' director.......what a surprise?! No script.....no director......no new actor.......time approaching is 2024! This is what she has been up to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-bmxgYJHig She has quite an irritatingly 'squeaky' voice as well. Where is MGW? Hibernation until an official announcement most likely, and that is when they dust the moth balls off of him and wake him up.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Genius Creator Ian Fleming Wrote Each of the James Bond Books in Less Than 2 Weeks by Using the 'Rule of Forced Boredom'. Fleming's method involved isolating himself in a mundane hotel room, in a location offering no distractions, forcing him to focus solely on his writing. This environment, devoid of alluring alternatives, left Fleming with two choices: write or do nothing...........and Broccoli's writers can come up with only 1 script in 8, going on 9, years? https://www.inc.com/nick-hobson/genius- ... redom.html

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Speaking with British Vogue, acclaimed actor Olivia Colman expressed her longstanding desire to play the role of M in the James Bond franchise. Speaking about those who have compared her to a young Judi Dench, Colman was first flattered and then immediately began making her case to jump into the 007 franchise as the head of MI-6.
Just what the franchise would need. Another motherly figure for Bond who berates him constantly.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The latest comic book adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe The Marvels has grossed $110 million overseas and only $187 million globally so far. At this rate, the big-budget sequel will end its box office run as the 'lowest-grossing MCU movie in history' — by a landslide. This ignominious distinction currently belongs to 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk” with $264 million, not adjusted for inflation.....keep throwing out money on moronic castings and woke plots and this is what they will get. The CEOs of these companies live in a bubble and should be fired but unfortunately the studio heads do not seem to care about losing money by going in this direction. The people are NOT interested in it and force feeding does not work if those required to do the eating have to spend their money on it.

The Terminator remake is fake. The posters featuring Margot Robbie and Henry Cavill are not official posters and are instead AI-generated posters made by Facebooker YODA BBY ABY.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
There’s nothing heroic about the final box office performance of “The Marvels.” The superhero sequel is officially the lowest-grossing installment in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After four weeks on the big screen, the comic book tentpole is running out of steam with $80 million in North America and $197 million globally. There would typically be optimism that attendance could rebound over the busy holiday season, but Disney apparently doesn’t expect that to be the case. The studio wrote on Sunday in a note to press, “With ‘The Marvels’ box office now winding down, we will stop weekend reporting of international/global grosses on this title.”.........that is the end of this bust! The Beyonce movie bombed compared to the Taylor Swift film. It only did $21 million here vs. the $92 million Taylor Swift's film did on its opening weekend. Variety is attempting to spin Beyonce's result as a great thing but Beyonce is yesterday's news and the Swifties have taken over the popularity and do not think Beyonce is not totally jealous of this FACT.
