The only reason Bond has survived for 40-odd years is precisely because Bond was never old (forgetting the way the actors looked in DAF and AVTAK). Bond was timeless - hence why he has survived so long.
Bond is not, never was and never will be, Indy Jones who is now old, or John McClaine, or a retired Rocky Balboa, or an ageing Rambo. These franchises are played by the same actor, and the story/timeline reflects this.
Bond doesn't. Fleming never wrote him that way (with exception to certain parts of YOLT and TMWTGG), and Cubby never saw Bond that way either.
As soon as Bond grows old, the franchise ends.....
