What DID you like/enjoy about Casino Royale?

Please don't answer with silly answers like "the end" etc.

Greetings,

Parts that worked well for me were (in no particular order):

1) Construction site chase - yes, it was bit over the top but it was a great action setpiece to intro the new Bond and I loved when the villian throws his gun at Bond who, rather than dodging it, catches it and hurls it back at the baddie.

2) The airport chase - yes, we've seen it in done in other films but this was very nicely choreographed and the look on Bond's face as the terrorist blows himself up is priceless.

3) Solange (Caterina Murino) - no explanation needed here just wish she had had more screen time...such a beauty...

4) Stairwell fight sequence - One of the better Bond film fights in many a year...I would rank it up there with Connery/Shaw in FRWL.

5) Vesper death sequence - probably the only time in the film where I felt an emotional connection with the character and perhaps the only time where I really believed that Vesper had feelings for Bond. Nicely performed in my humble O...

6) Last shot of DC as the James Bond theme begins to swell - reminded me, oddly enough, of the first Matrix film when Neo is fighting Agent Smith and Morpheus says "He is starting to believe..." In this closing moment of the film...I actually thought that DC finally looked comfortable in the role.

The drink-wobbling scene. Easily the best drink-wobbling scene in a film last year.

Which, the one after the stair fight or the one after the poisoning?

The fight on the stairs was followed by the indisputable drink-wobble

True. But there was also a drink wobble after the poisoning, that's why I asked ;) Two drinks, you didn't specify :P .

The fact that Barbara Broccoli decided to make another Bond film after ANOTHER long break.

I'm too embittered to come up with any positive thoughts - so will come back to this thead after some thoughts.

The pre-credit sequence. Funnily enough, despite looking so totally unlike previous Bond films (shot in black and white, gunbarrel moved to the end, first time rain has ever been seen in a Bond film), I thought it was the most Bond-like part of the entire film.

Oh and the opening titles were pretty cool, too. I'm one of the minority that actually liked the Chris Cornell song, and these were the first Daniel Kleinmann graphics that I've really enjoyed. I didn't really like his titles for the Brosnan films, dunno why.

If I had to choose I say the poisoning scene /car resurrection.
Even that has some stupid points to it –over done. :?

The first chase was good.
Make them serious nudes!

I'd mention opening titles. I generally appreciate Arnold's style so the title song of CR was also fine for me (although not so great as my favourite TWINE).

Some of the views were picturesque. Panorama from the clinic where Bond was recovering for instance.

I liked also Bond saying:"Very sorry. That last hand... nearly killed me." In fact it was the only phrase in the film I enjoyed.
- "Do I look like I give a d**n?"
- You don't. And that's the main problem.

I thought the pre title sequence was very exciting, and gave me hope that i would enjoy the entire film. very well done in terms of showing Bond getting his first 2 kills and becoming a 00 agent.
I also liked when he shot the guys legs out from under him at the end.
