DB let them have it! The ONLY saving grace is that an ATTEMPT to continue the franchise in a more rapid pace MIGHT result in some form of success. We will see how the trend starts when they FINALLY choose the 7th 007 within 6 months, no longer, to get a gauge on where they are going. Spinoffs do NOT interest Bond fans. Bond is the ONLY attraction to the fans. If they want to stream offshoots with the other minor characters let them, as long as they keep Bond in theaters only.

I'm not optimistic Kris, it's more nihilistic, it's meaningless. Bond is dead and buried.
Honestly, I think the literary Bond died with Fleming and the cinematic Bond ended with Cubby. Everything since has just been someone else's idea of a copy.
Bond is really no different from any other franchise now- and has been for some time. It's a popular brand to be dusted off every few years in order to exercise the copyright. I'd liken it to Star Wars or Star Trek in that the original films will always be regarded as canon, while everything else is just varying degrees of fans attenpting to go home again.

I agree Jake, I've never read a continuation novel for that reason, non- Fleming novels and non-Cubby films are essentially fan-fic, some may be better than others but nowhere near the originals.
