For fans of Daniel Craig this is a must see.
(So it'll be popular around here. )
In his directorial debut Matthew Vaughn, the man behind Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, brings us another British gangster flick. And for a debut he does well. But compared to his other work with Guy Ritchie, it's not quite up there with Lock Stock or Snatch.
But Craig is quite effective as the cocaine dealer waiting to get out while he's ahead. The story is appealing and never dull and the supporting cast help hold it all together. Not the best, but well worth a look.

Just because I don't think Craig looks the part of Bond doesn't mean I wouldn't like him in other roles. I haven't seen Layer Cake, but he was good in Munich.

Abysmal film. Why am I suprised you loved it.

Well, he's playing the title role in I, Lucifer - you don't get much more villainous than that!
BTW Kris avoid Layer Cake. If your a fan of the fantastic Snatch and LSATSB, then do not ruin your perception of cool modern British ganster flicks by watching this turd of a movie. Matthew Vaughn demonstrates the fact he is not bad as a producer, but direction is not his forte.

I was just going to ask you whether you enjoyed Snatch and Lock, Stock.... Obviously, your answer would affect how I judged your perspective of Layer Cake.

I never said it was a great film, but worthy of a viewing.
You should see my brief review of Mr.Beans Holiday.

Are you fully opposed to Craig in everything?
I myself found Munich rather boring to tell the truth.
Good performances, but not something I would wanna see again.

I think it was a bit of a curate's egg. Maybe if Spielberg had heeded his own advice from his younger days that "there is rarely any excuse for a movie to go over 90 minutes", he would have made a better film (note that I am only talking about Munich here - his earlier Schindler's List was 3 hours long, but needed that length to tell the story).

I actually enjoyed Munich and felt it was a return to form for SS. Craig put in a good performance as did EB.
To be fair to Craig he was the best part of Layer cake, It's just that the movie really was cr*p.

I enjoyed Layer Cake. Colm Meaney was great as always, and the rest of the cast including Daniel Craig were all decent in their roles. I did think that it got a bit confusing in some parts, and I didn't exactly like the way it ended. but I would recomend this movie.
