I wanted to like CR but came out disappointed. I want to like QOS, and at least hold out some hope that I won't be as disappointed this time. For a Bond fan to seemingly want to hate a Bond film just seems bizarre to me.stockslivevan wrote:Glad to see someone on the opposite side acknowledge this for once!Kristatos wrote:Forget it Arthur, you'll no more change BJ's mind than you will convince Ian Paisley that the Pope isn't all bad.

Bizarre Kris? That is what Craig as Bond and Eon's creation is. To those of you who hold out a morsel of hope that Craig's portrayal as Bond will suddenly arouse your enthusiasm for his style, good luck to you. Let me know what QOS does for you in this area Kris. I am interested in the longevity of the franchise, not one particular actor. As Dr. Zaius said at the end of Planet of The Apes:"Do not look for it Taylor. You may not like what you find".

Change my mind to WHAT Kristatos? To suddenly realize how great Craig is as Bond? To suddenly realize that Eon's new direction is wonderful? To suddenly realize that Dench as M does make perfect sense in this new Bond world? To suddenly realize that CR and QOS have no link to the concurrent Bourne trilogy? To suddenly realize that Q and Moneypenny have no place in the Bond world of the 21st century? To suddenly realize that Bond is more of a punk thug than a suave gentleman with a license to kill? WHAT do you think the continuation of CR into QOS will deliver to make you enjoy it? BJ, we're just commenting on the fact that you make up your mind well before you know anything about the film, and when you do learn something, you berate it faster than a rabbit getting ****ed. You don't want to learn what these filmmakers have to say, you're just waiting for them to say something to bash it. Like a blind folded person holding a sledgehammer, ready to bash what's next on the table, regardless of what the object is.
This kind of mentality really exposed itself when you berated Marc Forster's comment on having James Bond presented as a three-dimensional character. Would you still be doing that had someone who fits your ideal Bond was playing? Of course not. You're only doing this because of the fact Daniel Craig is on board and nothing else.
Whatever/whoever is involved with a film starring Daniel Craig as Bond, off you go bashing. Suddenly you think a particular actor/actress is really bad even though you haven't seen their performance on this film. Off you go bashing a director for not having any action film under his belt, despite the fact that a lot of Bond films had been directed by people who never directed an action film (Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert, Peter Hunt, John Glen, ect)
These people here on DCINB are BOND FANS and what they hope for is at least something decent or more in a Bond film, even if it stars a particular lead actor they are not keen on. Even they are hoping Daniel Craig will surprise them in a positive way (Kristatos and Skywalker are good examples). Even over at MI6 Charles Vine has shown positive expression over the news of QOS. Why would a fan of a series hope for a film to be genuinely bad aside financially? Just so everyone will show disgust at the film besides Craig and hopefully have EON firing him? That's the kind of vibe I have always been getting from you BJ. You want the film itself besides Craig to be so bad that it will force EON to change everything. You don't want a good film from Craig, you just want an excuse for Craig's departure from the series.

I thought the point AB was originally making was to do with BO audience figures, and how many will see QOS. Now you are jumping on Kris with a different debate.bjmdds wrote:Change my mind to WHAT Kristatos? To suddenly realize how great Craig is as Bond? But with regards Kristatos, it is refreshing to see someone here who did not like CR, did not agree with the casting, but is still holding out some hope that QOS may be a big improvement on the last film.
This is not dissimilar to how I felt with each new Brosnan film. I hated each one more and more, but always hoped that the next film would be better than the last, that there would be something I could find to enjoy it. We are Bond fans, after all.
But I do find you the most negative poster on any forum, Bj. It's like you don't want the new Bond film to be any good at all costs, which is understandable if you think Craig will be then booted out, and a new actor brought in to swiftly replace him. But I tell you now. It ain't gonna happen. Not right now. You either accept it, or continue this negative stance for a further few years, by which case you may have turned every Bond fan away from you by then, even the anti-Craig ones. I get the impression that many on here will still see QOS in the hope that there is some improvement, but sadly I cannot say that about you.
Surely even you can see that Craig is now a popular Bond, far more popular than you anticipated with CR, and that QOS will (educated guess) probably bring in similar numbers to CR. If you cannot see that, you are in denial, my friend....

There are many Bonds fans on various forums that are not big fans of Daniel Craig as Bond, or the current style and direction of the films.
BJ has made it clear that he doesn't want DC as Bond. His thread is probably the most popular thread on any forum, due to the fact BJ is prepared to engage debate. I don't agree with everything BJ has to say, but it would be boring without him.

True, it would be boring without him, the same way it would be boring without many of the characters on here.Skywalker wrote:There are many Bonds fans on various forums that are not big fans of Daniel Craig as Bond, or the current style and direction of the films.

It's one thing not liking the new Bond, and its another trying desperately to look for any angle to attack the new film, and state boldly and adamantly that QOS will be a flop, especially when he stated the exact same thing before CR.

Funny you should mention that. I've noticed on many occasions that when a pro-Craig wins a debate concerning something, BJ will ignore it, move on and bring up a different topic with the usual "is this what you look forward to" routine instead of either acknowledging it with a "yeah, you've got a point" or confront it.Skywalker wrote:There are many Bonds fans on various forums that are not big fans of Daniel Craig as Bond, or the current style and direction of the films.

Of course, but I find BJ to be more extreme on these. He just happens to not find one positive note because he doesn't want to find a positive note. God forbid BJ would find something positive for a change! Even if they add Moneypenny into the next film (which is what he said is a tradition and needs to stay, a few pages ago) he'll try looking for something and exploit whatever he finds "negative" to bash it till his keyboard breaks. That's how he keeps coming off for me and no doubt for others too, especially at MI6 which is why they berate him over there the most. I almost eased off on him during the post-CR days in this forum when everything was established and there was no news of QOS.I don't agree with everything BJ has to say, but it would be boring without him.
Now his mind-set seems more evident with QOS news appearing this year. There's being a fan, and then there's being someone who utterly wants something bad to happen just so they could get it their way instead of remaining optimistic even if you're not keen on the actor and direction.

It's called debate!!
Personally, I couldn't care less what BO takings QOS will do. I'm also not bothered if it doesn't gross as much as other Non-Bond films. If I like the new film I will openly admit, likewise If I don't.
For every angle of debate BJ uses, It ultimately gives you an open invitation to reply with a general constructive viewpoint. It's the difference of opinion that keeps the debate going.

I find i dont have to write a lot on this debate, as others hear write posts which bear out my sentiments..............but i will say one thing and i have said it before........people who wish ill on the film franchise so they can be rid of an actor they dont like..............dont seem to realise that at the end of the day the films are a business, and a disaster at the BO could easily end the franchise, and none of us wants that.
Replacing a lead actor is currently popular, is also not a sensible choice at present...................as who knows, the next actor could be even less acceptable to the public!!
Its not rocket science guys!!!

Is this the Daniel Craig Not Bond forum, because everyone seems to love him.
I'm not sure about some Craig opponents who get more and more postive by the day, but, for me the series is over now they have restarted it with Daniel Craig. I'd almost welcome a disaster so they can cast a more palatable Bond actor.
Of course I will watch the movie, and there is chance I will like it, as I have stated in different threads. Mr BJMMDS is on record as saying he will watch it. He will give his honest opinion if he likes it. I presume, also, that those who like the new Bond will also be critical if they are unhappy.

If QOS were to fail miserably, and with a estimated budget of $200 mil,
i'd think you'd be lucky to get another Bond film at all after that.

In my opinion, they are not making Bond movies now.
If Daniel Craig is a flop as James Bond, he will leave and someone will attempt at least once, to make another form of James Bond movie, hopefully going back to the old formula.
If Daniel Craig flops, it will not be my fault. It will be Eon and those James Bond fans who welcomed this rather radical restructuring of the series.
If Quantum of Solace is another success, and it is bound to be even if the money earnt is down a little, and, Daniel Craig makes ten movies, and I don't enjoy them, I will be sad but won't begrudge other people their fun.
Just as 90% of members of the MI6.co.uk and CommanderBond James Bond fan forums counted down the days until Pierce Brosnan left the part, I can't wait to get rid of this man as "James Bond"
