At least was it a pure Brosnan movie?

From what I heard it was and supposed to be pretty good. I still search for it from time to time, its probably a pdf file sitting on a server somewhere.

Here is a story from 2004, about teh time Brosnan was trying to convince the writers to make CR based on the book. Before Brosnan, eon thought CR was unfilmable
Pierce Brosnan Talks On 'James Bond 21'http://www.killermovies.com/j/jamesbond ... 3808.html/
[Wednesday, March 24th, 2004]
Pierce Brosnan talked frankly to The Sun newspaper in which he accuses the producers of ruining the movies with too many special effects and not enough plot.

Screenwriters revealed they were suffering from writer’s block and had not finished the script. And a source at MGM studios has admitted the Bond film is in “disarray”.

Pierce believes part of the problem is that the series has advanced so much technically that the creators don’t know what to do next.

He says: “The bar for these movies was raised so high with the last one (Die Another Day) and they don’t seem to know how to improve on it.

“They don’t have a script or a director so the rumours that we will begin filming in the autumn are just rumours.”

Brosnan also complains that the producers do not show more imagination in expanding the movies with more plot and characters.

He says: “They’re too scared. They feel they have to top themselves in a genre which is just spectacle and a huge bang for your buck. But I think you can have your cake and eat it.

“You can have real character work, a character storyline and a thriller aspect and all the kinds of quips, asides, the explosions and the women.”

But he says the producers opened talks with him on making the next movie — then he heard nothing.

Brosnan says: “It is nowhere near a done deal — but they know where to find me.

“I was prepared to do a fifth film and then walk away and we had started negotiations.

“I want to follow through but conversations and telephone calls have dried up.

“We started talking about the fifth so this paralysis that has set in is rather surprising.

“The producers have reached an impasse as far as I can tell. They don’t know what to do.

“So, for me, it’s business as usual. I shall just carry on with creating work for myself.

“I certainly would love to do a fifth Bond and then bow out but if this last one is to be my last, then so be it. My contract is up. They can do it or not.”

He claims the producers want to remake Casino Royale, first made by a rival company in 1967, after finally securing the rights to it.

But he is furious that they have decided not to make a film of the original book, just to use the title.

Brosnan rages: “That’s ludicrous. It’s so d**n crazy! That’s absolutely sheer lunacy because Casino Royale is the blueprint of the Bond character.

“You find out more about James Bond in that book than in any of the other books.”

I've read this article, and actually I would have done the same not to use the plot as it was the worst novel Fleming ever wrote. I would have just used the characters, the casino concept and the title. Other than that, I would have put a WMD as the mcguffin and have had done a proper Bond film. I wish a copy would be found somewhere.

His iconic status was more brought out for his untimely death, not any great accomplishments, except for: "ask not what your country can do for you.......ask what you can do for your country". It seems Oh-bama and the Democrats of 2013 are light years apart in theory from Kennedy's beliefs. Kennedy could never be elected today as a Democrat. He would be ostracized now by them. Joe Dimaggio blamed him for Marilyn Monroe's death. The entire assassination supposed plot and sub-plots leave doubts in everyone's mind who experienced that era. MLK and RFK followed in sequence. The 1960s were a rough emotional decade in the USA with Viet Nam and Woodstock part of the chaos.
JFK was more republican than democrat by the 1980s i'm not sure he'd recognize the politics of his brothers. Then again his death had massive effect on the political system maybe the democrats wouldn't be the party of Obama if JFK had lived.
When Lincoln was assassinated it was the worst thing to happen to the south since the war. The party of Lincoln was corrupt sharing neither the decency nor morality of Lincoln and that party seized power for the next 50 years committing countless atrocities in the name of liberty. When the democrats came back to power it was a progressive strain of the party, honestly Lincoln wasn't far off progressive himself.
Not the same as a nation at war with itself still maybe JFK's death was a catalyst for wider political changes.

I'm not sure JFK would have lost reelection, would the Repubs put up the nut Goldwater if they believed they had a chance. Although just about anything would be better then LBJ. In the 20th century only 5 presidents out of 17 lost reelection Taft, Hoover, Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George H. W. Bush, although Ford doesn't really count as he was never elected. Most lost because of a bad economy, I don't know enough about 1960s America to know if the 1964 economy was good or bad.

Needless to say America would be a better place if JFK, MLK and RFK had lived to complete their legacy rather than leave jagged holes in our lives. I believe the vacuum that was filled in their absence was a determent to us all.

It's odd that something that happened so many years(almost 10) before I was born can make so emotional. I've heard my mom's story of where she was when she heard Kennedy had been shot a zillion times and it never gets old-she was outside, hanging clothes on a clothes line, and her neighbor came out of the house and said "The president has been shot". My mom said "The president of what?" It must have seemed like the world had gone crazy.

for my / our generation it's 9/11. There were other terrible events since JFK but none as shocking.

Yes, many terrible things happened. I'm from the 'lot' younger generation too, but JFK's assassination was the most horrible disaster that happened. Yes, even 9/11, which was horribly scary, wasn't as shocking as JFK's assassination in front of the entire American population.

Tara Chace Makes James Bond Look Like a Wussy!: The Next Spy Movie Starring Ellen Page

Queen & Country the movie! Finally this comic is being made into a movie! British SIS Operative Tara Chace is being introduced to the big screen! Miss Chace was created by Greg Rucka as the star of his creator-owned "Queen & Country" series from Oni Press. He initially played with the idea that she was actually Lily Sharpe, a British agent from his "Whiteout" series. He later decided not to go that route and developed Tara as her own completely independent character.

Same here, Kater. It was really shocking. I could hear the people panic all over again when my memories flash back to that moment. Yes, it was horrible.

My friend was driving a van out of the garage "the very moment the plane hit" and he just kept going through traffic lights until he got through the Holland Tunnel to the New Jersey side of the river. He worked for the Port Authority as a deliverer to the 3 main airports. He was fine, unlike those who jumped out of burning glass windows. One of his friends worked at Cantor-Fitzgerald and never made it out alive. The Palestinians celebrated this on CNN and the video was later pulled so we Americans would not see it.

Sugarland are excellent-they are one of the few exceptions to my "No country music" rule-country music has been far to politicized for my liking-I can get that elsewhere. I do like the old school country music-Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johny Cash..it's the good old boy in my dad(he's from Texas) I think..though we grew up listening to *everything", Beatles, show tunes, you name it.

Summer 2016 is more appropriate for MI5. I originally root for Christmas 2016, but Avatar 2 will release at that time.
