Awful title! I don't care if it stars Connery. It's just lame.
What happened to Risico? I had a fondness for that title.

I know Flemming chose that titel but it was for a magazine not a book, when it came time for a book title he went with For Your Eyes Only, which has a better ring. Hildebrand Rarity is a lame name as well.
"Quantum of Solace" is only superficially a James Bond story. Oddly, then, it is the most interesting and compelling at least of the first three stories in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. Bond is in Jamaica on assignment, but the story is not about the assignment. In this one, Bond mostly listens to a story within the story, told by the colonial governor of Jamaica, with whom he had just had dinner. This story within the story is the thrust of "Quantum of Solace." It has nothing to do with espionage, action, or adventure. Rather, it is a brief tale about a failed relationship. That's it. Somehow Fleming manages to make it interesting. I was wondering where the story was going and was caught off guard by its mild, but unexpected surprise ending. In this regard, Fleming achieves on a small level some of what he otherwise better captures through novels than short stories. While "Quantum" has little to do with Bond (or, more accurately, Bond has little to do in Quantum), it is the most enjoyable story so far in this collection.

Risico is a class title and far more suitable than the QOS.

Be it QOS, POS, OS, or PMS, the title still will be morse code for The Bourne Mimicry. This film will look more like Bourne than CR did, by all accounts. :x

Most people seem to be poking fun at the title "Quantum of Solace" when I read QOS related articles. I don't mind the title.

The song title is "Anothe Way To Die", so maybe they could not be bothered to work quantum of solace into the song. :D

I don't blame them, though the phrase could still appear somewhere in the lyrics, just as the title of TSWLM was worked into the chorus of Nobody Does It Better.

We now know Daniel clams responsible for the title.

GQ interview
Quantum of Solace is the name of a little-known short story by Ian Fleming, and its announcement last year as the title of the 22nd Bond adventure had fans scratching their heads

However, according to Craig, all Bond titles are essentially nonsense.

Asked if he agreed with fans who have laughed at the new name, Craig told GQ: "No, because I was involved in making the decision. Names were coming out, some ludicrous stuff was going back and forth – I can't remember exactly, but you know the sort of thing: 'The Blood On Your Face'. I knew I didn't want 'death', 'die', 'bleed' or any of those things in the title.

"We had it written down on boards and we'd literally go and sit in rooms and stare at this title. If you look at 'Q's, they're really weird in a title.

"As soon as it came out, people were saying, 'Ooh, it sounds like Harry Potter.' No, it's Quantum of Solace. I was saying, 'It's a Bond title! The name of a Bond film is not about anything. Live And Let Die? Octopussy? What does it mean? It means very little. We've got nothing to worry about."

Quantum of Solace was included in Fleming's 1960 collection of short stories, For Your Eyes Only. The film's makers have dispensed with the author's original plot and retained only the name, which refers to "the smallest unit of compassion that two people can have".

What an idiot! The titles always relate to something from the story. Dr No, Thunderball, OHMSS,LTK,FRWL,TWINE. I'll give Craig TND & DAD, DAD works better than TND.

"the smallest unit of compassion that two people can have"

Craig said before "The title ties into a very important plot point but also the deal was, when (Ian) Fleming wrote the story, it was quite an emotional story about where his head space was at the time. What he said was, basically, if you don't have that quantum of solace in your relationship then basically the relationship is over. Bond, at the end of the last movie, the love of his life is taken away from him. He doesn't have that quantum of solace."

The definition of Qark by the Governor of Nassau:

"When all kindness is gone, when one person obviously and sincerely doesn’t care if the other is alive or dead, then it’s just no good. That particular insult to the ego—worse, to the instinct of self-preservation—can never be forgiven.... I’ve thought about this and I’ve invented a rather high-sounding title for this basic factor in human relations. I have called it The Law of the Quantum of Solace."

They got better with their PR BS but they still don't have a glimmer of a clue what the short story is a bout.
Vesper was a incredibly pretentious suicide not a Quantum of Solace
