Man of Steel has 69% on RT. No one is tearing the film to pieces but the consensus is that it takes itself too "seriously" and lacks the wonder and innocence of the Donner original. Seems like they can't win whatever they do with Superman. Cavill has been widely praised though.

I was closest to Sk-Awful's opening weekend box office contest here Kris. You quickly forget. I hope Superman does great. I just don't think it has the Iron Man juice required to go crazy at the box office.

I haven't forgotten how confident you were of a Romney victory in the last US presidential election, or the number of times you insisted that Craig was about to be fired and replaced with Hugh Jackman, to name but two.

Was Hellboy Marvel? IIRC, the comics were published by Dark Horse or one of the other "mini-majors".
Was it? Oh, sorry, I was confused. I didn't like it, anyway. But, I do like Dark Horse comics. They didn't sell out like the modern day Marvel and DC Comics.

Yes, it was Dark Horse, though I read the reprints in the Judge Dredd Megazine.

Now, we're talking. Judge Dredd is literally awesome. I'm not gonna lie to you, I've been introduced to Dredd through Stallone's movie, but then I checked out the 1970s comic books, and I find the original source material even more awesome than Stallone's movie. Here's me hoping that there would be a Dredd/Robocop crossover, I wish. By the way, has anyone seen the new Dredd movie? According to the critics, it was a good movie, but I don't listen to critics. If anyone has seen it, then tell me how is it? Is it worth watching?
I think you'd like it. The only criticism I have is that its low budget means that Mega City 1 doesn't look as futuristic as it should, but it's not a major problem, as most of the action takes place in a single city block. At least Dredd feels like Dredd, unlike in the Stallone movie.

RT has a low count right now less than 60, 18 of those are rotten.

There was a story they got Bond style product placements, financing like a third of the movie.

I'd be shocked if this does a Star Trek collapse this weekend, I seen plenty if dark and/dull proclamations. I never got the donner superman I doubt many in today audience are waiting for the second coming of Christopher Reeve, but we will see. I've alway considered superman kind of a Boy Scout.

60? How would that equate to box office openings if compared to prior RT numbers?

Can I account for horny Broccoli's lust for Cr-egg, or the "rigged" election where more votes were counted percentage wise in key swing state precincts that were 20% higher than the national average turnout? There is a lot of chicanery out there which defies rational logic. Ohio had 40,000 Somalians bussed in for early voting in October and 60% were deemed possibly illegal but nothing was done about it. Port St. Lucie Florida had an inordinately high turnout in it's precinct. People who turned out to vote in key precincts were told they had already voted. In Virginia, Oh-bama and Romney split the military vote :!:   Romney got fewer votes of Republicans than McCain did? Yet, nothing was done by the Attorney Generals of these key swing states :!: Why? Collusion to avoid riots perhaps? This creep-in-chief is ruining America as Broccoli is ruining the Bond franchise. Heck, you UK citizens have had enough with Islam it seems by your protests now in the streets from the recent beheading. The world has skewed mad now and without course correction, this planet is in peril from lunatic factions becoming mainstream.

I only was say the number of reviews seemed low for such a big movie. Hot to be closer to 200 by the next few weeks so 19 - 20 rotten may not hurt it but the good and bad don't account for the BO now a days

So I'm talking to a friend today, and we were talking about books we had(and hadn't) read. Ernest Hemingway came up in conversation. She mentioned the Hemingway house in Key West. I said that I knew it because it was in a James Bond move[/nerdy]

http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendel ... es-flight/ A Man Of Steel negative review by Forbes magazine. Over/under $100 million? It opens at a huge number of screens but it is a long film at 2 hours and 23 minutes. "A strong $80-$100 million debut is likely, but after that it’s merely a question of whether audiences find themselves in line with critics like myself or those who either shrugged off the film’s problems or found themselves caught up in the film outside of what I feel are core issues."

I'll have to agree with you. At least he's trying to save the world, not working for some amateur agency FOR MONEY and failing the task he's given to accomplish! He's at least Superman, not Jason :cuss: Bourne!

You know that a lot of Anti-Craig rebels here enjoy Jason Bourne films.

Most papers don't run their reviews until opening day, so a low number of reviews at this point is far from unusual.

Man of Steel is down to 60% while World War Z is now at 80%. I don't think many people would have predicted that a few months ago.

One of my main gripes about Bond films these days but for some reason (QoS aside I suppose) they get a pass.
