In regards to the possible 4 year wait, I guess the positive thing about that is Craig may only be able to make a couple more Bond films before he has to retire.

It's one rule for Craig and another for Brosnan, Moore and Connery. The latter three were criticised for looking too old in their final Bond outings but Craig is allowed to play Bond into his 50's even though he looks like a cross between a a raisin and a coconut.

Craig being more physically fit will be the primary excuse why he's more suitable to play Bond in his 50's than Connery, Moore and Brosnan were. In terms of facially, I've heard the excuse of Craig's rugged appearance being more realistic due to his hard job as a spy.

I remember some people were poking fun at Timothy Dalton's hair thinning at the top in Licence To Kill. Yet Craig's skinhead look in Skyfall is somehow okay. I can only hope that when a new actor is eventually cast for the role, the James Bond cycle will come back to haunt Craig.

That continuity probably has much to do with all those decades of pretty well unqualified success. David Niven played him way back as Sir James Bond (retired) in a spoof version of Casino Royale. But the previous actors who took the role under the, as it were official, Broccoli aegis are, just to remind you, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. The sixth and latest, Daniel Craig, now coming up for the third time in Skyfall, was Broccoli’s choice.

“We knew we wanted him from the beginning,” Broccoli said. “But the studio especially doesn’t want to see any stone unturned, so they wanted us to see everybody. So we met them. But when Craig is on the screen you can’t take your eyes off him. It doesn’t matter how big or small the role.
