Re : Sweeney, No they didn't do a TB GF to Skyfall comparison and I couldn't' find out what year they adjusted this for. I think when I did BO Mojo's adjustment it was $1.29 billion. It what Mazer was saying about adjusting 1965 dollars to 2012 and not ticket inflation.

[offtopic]Bureau of Labor statistics inflation calculator has a similar number to the one you posted adjusting dollars only.[/offtopic]

Cool!!! We got off topic quotes! Can we swap the regular quotes for off topic? I like the way it looks.
English Agent wrote:I cant believe it...............after all these years there is something i dont agree with what 'The Sweeney' has said

Well over on the 'MI6' site, the 'SF' fans there have been going ecstatic believing that 'SF' is now the biggest Bond film of all time, surpassing 'TB'.

This apparently came about because one of the members there found an inflation adjusted chart on the Bond series, which skewered to lower box office figures..........this one list somehow became the holy grail on that site, and the herd mentality there took it to there hearts as if favoured SF.
There were one or two othere there who disagreed with this, but were given the cold shoulder.
Then there was this person, who joined in the discussion, and told them they needed to take in figures that other respectable sources had researced into, and showed that SF has not overtaken TB as the biggest Bond of all time, and is in fact still behind 'GF'............unfortuanately this person got attacked by a pack of wolves there.......but they have somewhat dissapeared since the figures have been shown on their site.
I wonder who this person is? :D

Anyway, the true fact is no one will ever know which is the most successful Bond film of alltime, and does it matter.........as long as the series continues!

Wait for the Chinese BO for SF before celebrating.............Sweeney! :D
Omega wrote:I was trying to find out what was a BIG movie back in the 60s, I didn't do to well because most places only account for domestic. From Russia with love and GF are close nearly taking the top spot of their years too. I think Sound of Music was the biggest film of the 1960s
Above and beyond anything we have to say attendance for TB was tremendous, 166 million if I have the number correct.
I'm not sure what year this was done (Done BY AMC Film site) but if TB did $600 million adjusted then it is $1.33 billion movie. I'm not sure what numbers Mazer had give us. I do consider BO MOJO way off but even they are closer than that other number being used.
This was the only Bond film in which all nine 00- agents appeared together in London, England, where M summoned them to a briefing about SPECTRE's plot.

Molly Peters (as Patricia Fearing) was the first Bond girl to appear nude (in silhouette) - in the steambath scene. And Martine Beswick, as Paula Caplan was the first Bond girl to appear in two Bond girls as different characters (she was fighting gypsy girl Zora in From Russia With Love (1963)).

With an Academy Award win, the second (and last win, to date) for Best Special Visual Effects.

With a production budget of $9 million, and gross revenue of $63.6 million (domestic) and $141 million (worldwide).

Thunderball had the highest domestic box-office earnings of the Bond films (to date) - when adjusted for inflation. Its domestic unadjusted gross of $63.6 million was $600 million when adjusted. Goldfinger (1964) was a distant second with $51 million (and $531.7 million adjusted).

Bo Mojo has @ $1.317Billion. Going from their inflation of the domestic gross. Also show they are giving 165.86 million tickets sold, so I'm guessing that's the difference.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... rn-up.html http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv ... 3854.story People don't give a d**n any longer about this crumb, yet they re-elected him over Romney........HUGE mistake :!: Watch MORE job layoffs with January 2014 Obamcare mandates starting, watch HIGHER unemployment and SLOWER economic growth too. The GAO of the federal government, the General Accounting Office, said that the USA WILL collapse economically if the current spending policies of OH-bama continue. Morons were interviewed at the inauguration who actually said on live camera that spending money does not bother them at all......why should it? These bums are most likely not working looking for handouts and could care less if the country collapses :!: Watch out all of you Oh-bama supporters here. You won't like what you will see shortly occur in his second term. 1.7% GDP growth last year is abysmal :!:

Romney wanted to CUT spending by 5%, not the rate of growth cuts, but REAL spending. This course Oh-bama is on will sink this economy. He lies every single time he opens his yap :!: He has NO intention of cutting spending yet says he has agreed to 1.4 trillion in cuts......LIE...........the credit rating of the USA will drop even more his second term. I didn't even vote for Obama, but Romney was no saint either. While Obama is a spineless incompetent, Romney was for the rich as well and didn't give a flying f**k about anything other than making his buddies richer by ripping Americans off. My issues with Obama are things such as his complacent position on airzone strikes that kill innocents based on a guess.

And Romney was homophobic, that's a trait no president of the USA should ever carry.

What i dont understand about American politics, is that i get the impression that the politicians there, really have put thier heads in the sand and really dont seem to have any intention of getting the deficit down...........i mean its over $16 trillion now..............how long can this madness go on for??????
The problem cannot be put off forever, just by raising the deficit level..................the honest hard working American citizens will be the ones to suffer in the years to come.

'oMEGA'

This BO inflation thing, is a very contentious subject.....it seems the figures arrived at are quite different, and seem to be either based on ticket price adjustments, or the US inflation index method.
Personally , i think if one was to take the middle ground between the lowest and highest figures, then you would probably be closer to a more accurate figure (?).......but who knows.
In the case of 'TB' that would give it an adjusted gross of around $1,150,000,000 (which i have seen on a chart).
Therefore, in my reckoning 'SF' is still short of being No1 in the Bond franchise worldwide, whist in North America we all know that 'SF' despite its success there, was no where near the mega grosses of 'TB' or 'GF'.

In relation to worldwide admission figures....well i'am not sure TB did have worldwide admissions of 166 million.....the reason for this, is that this figure has been around for a longtime now, and seems to stem from the time when the US admissions for TB were stated as 74.8 million, this figure has only in the last few years been recalculated down to 58+ million, which seems to make sense as TB's gross in the US OF 65-66 was around $64+ mil, at a time when the average ticket price in that market was a little over a dollar.

It appears that the original calculations to the US admission figure, was applied to the overseas figure, which does lead to the conclusion that the film had 166 million admissions.............but based on the newer US figure for admissions, i belive TB's actual worldwide admission figure is closer to 130 milion.
The same admissions abnomally also appears to affect the number quoted for 'GF' as well.

Just thought i'd add some more confusion to the argument!

EA :)

Even Sweeney would enjoy Sheamus as Bond instead of an older Idris Elba in 2021. Maybe Sheamus could body slam Broccoli and have her lust after him a well :!:

A lot of people said Lazenby is a great Bond despite with little acting experience. If that's the case, this shouldn't be a problem with this Irish wrestler although WWE is all scripted.

Obama act like he is for the little guy but his policies put money in the fats cats pockets. Romney got stuck with evil rich guy label.
Obama's problem is he is not a politician in the traditional sense, he's never been tested beyond a few lopsided elections. Bill Clinton had the skill to work with the RNC, adn moderate DNC, Obama thinks he got no checks on his power after the last election.

The debt is a big problem, so is the corrupt politician who do not have the guts to confront it, right now I fear the worst problem the media has become the arm of a political party and forgotten its role.
