Percy should open at #2, it only cost $95m, maybe a little more depending how much was spent to promote it. Monday's school holiday should be telling for the future of the franchise.

Percy's opening weekend should take in around $58 to 60m.

Percy did as expected.
$31.2m opening weekend F-S (3rd place neck and neck with Wolfman)
$38.66m Opening Holiday weekend F-M (2nd place, easily beating a close Wolfman)

The Wolfman actually beat it in the 3-day actuals, according to BOM, though Percy was ahead in the 4-days. It was pretty close, though, with less than $3 million between them. Depressingly, the top spot went to the cynical cash-in Valentine's Day. The only bright spot is the certain knowledge that it will suffer a second weekend drop so precipitous that it will make QOS look like Avatar. After all, who's going to want to see a movie called Valentine's Day on February 20th?

Been having a Scorsese run lately, love his flicks.

Taxi Driver - Unsettling but d**n good.
Goodfellas - Great film, I love it.
Casino - Always enjoyable to watch, those three hours fly by!
The Aviator - Should have won that Oscar.
The Departed - Pretty good, but I don't think it's that great.

I'm not enthused by the rumours that he's considering a remake of Taxi Driver, though. Let's hope it stays as just a rumour.

From what I've heard, they were recently denied. Given that he has a new flick coming out, it's no surprise rumors try to capitalize on it.

The story Casino is based on is fascinating.

Joe Pesci plays a character based on Tony Spilotro, and Pesci really does look like him:

I sincerely hope so. What an awful idea.

The Last Temptation of Christ

Really liked this one. Dafoe was great and I liked Keitel a lot too.

Alice in Wonderland (2010) ** 1/2 out of *****

Tim Burton should have been the perfect choice to bringing Wonderland to life. It became an exercise in weirdness. I would give it a miss until the DVD is in the $5 or less pile.

I was wondering about that. The reviews have been good, but Burton's last few films have been disappointing, plus it sounds like they've turned the heroine into Alice - Warrior Princess. LOTR/Narnia-style battle scenes don't really suit Lewis Carroll to my mind.

My niece is in Peru at the moment and she and her friend Rashme and her parents were going to see Alice In Wonderland-in Spanish! Luckily, my niece is fluent so was able to follow the story!

Just got back from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-they changed a few things from the book, but overall, I'd say it gets a thumbs up from me.

Amelia, actually very nice. Not a big action film but it was fun and great to watch if you have little girl. It was cool seeing those old planes too 8)
