Sound too much like the Bond 23 alternate title?

Sounds a bit cliche, but I don't mind very much.

Dredd isn't doing to well. But..............................................

The old dredd is so bad I'd imagine people think this is going to be a bad remake of that. Then again John Carter was dogged and it is a good movie.

I don't think we'll see a Dredd II unless some magic happens on home video.

Dredd's awful performance is the latest example of how the Comic-Con/online fanboy crowd just doesn't make up a large portion of the moviegoers in this country. The movie came out of its Comic-Con screening in July with tons of online buzz and very strong reviews, and it maintained a 100 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes through at least its first 25 reviews (though it ultimately wound up at a more-reasonable 77 percent). As a result, the fanboy audience was very aware of this movie ahead of release, and anticipation seemed to be pretty high among this group as well. Ultimately, though, it's just not a big enough group to drive strong business.

BOM has a downer on what it disparagingly calls "the fanboy crowd". As a member of that demographic, I hate to see them proved right.

Dredd is a different beast. It’s gory, arty, ambitious in scale yet modest in design, a movie that genuinely earns its R-rating. The depictions of Mega-City One are restrained enough to seem realistic but elaborate enough to make sense. The flybys are cleverly edited to create a sense that this world is not so far away and yet the details are over-the-top without being absurd.

Pete Travis and Alex Garland aren’t shy about showing risks in the line of fire — like innocent people getting killed — or throwing in moments of black comedy or just simple consideration. There’s genuine thought and design that goes into this movie’s world, visuals, and script, which is tight as a drum aside from a few nitpicks. It’s not about what looks cool: It’s about what makes sense to the setting. Similarly, shaky-cam has been banned. Pete Travis understands that in an action scene, geography is crucial. (emphasis mine - Kristatos)

The cast is also uniformly excellent. Lena Headey is great as a cracked-out, bitterly-cynical drug queen, and Olivia Thirlby takes her role as the real hero and audience surrogate and runs with it. Karl Urban isn’t called on to do much aside from shoot people and growl, but he brings a dry humor and timing to the role that makes it work.

It’s essentially the most faithful adaption possible, and yet stands as its own movie. It’s genuinely worth seeing if you like violent action movies, love the comics, or just miss when going to an R-rated movie meant something beyond a movie having three spoken f***s instead of two. Seriously, if you love gritty action movies, Dredd is something you need to see.

Over the past week, I finally had enough with the "exclusives" and breathless coverage of this web site or that saying it had "confirmed" the news. I tried to explain this and somebody responded, "You just have to be patient."

This person didn't understand. It wasn't a matter of being impatient. I'm tired of the hype. The overwraught "security" has caused me not to care about the song or who sings it. It could be Adele, it could be The Three Stooges. I'd have the same reaction. "Oh, that's nice."

Completely understandable. I did pay attention when Sweeney, a friend of the forum, was strongly defending a mate of his. I know Sweeney he is not one to pull a hoax. Other than that I'm not invested at all in who is signing what. I'm more worried about what is being done to the Bond legacy, is Naomie Ms. Moneypenny? I already am not a fan of the reinvention of Q as some bloke who should play Spider-man in the next reboot.
Killing M. Bond's parents. Bond's family seat. Torching the DB5.Bond quitting. Then add in all the dark emotionally driven flummery, I have my concerns.

Why did Daniel and Barbara bother to lie about just about every aspect of this and why is the identity of a singer more secure than our national secrets.

I wonder if they think parsing out 'exclusive' scraps (which they apparently dole out equally to everyone at the same time) to loyal lapdogs in the media is actually ginning up the attention they desire.
