IMAX has contributed spectacularly to the success of the Batman film, with $26.7 million in giant screen dollars since its North American debut. FBF, you see, this generated big bucks for both Spider-Man and the Bat film. Bond 23 will be propped up at the box office by this Imax and no first weekend competition, just like Spider-Man . It could open above $70 million here then collapse. Pierce never had Imax nor the amount of markets DC has had with his bond films.

Henry has a slight chance just because he came so close. In the history of the franchise there is a history of revisiting the nearly weres. Henry would be harder to get now he is superman still a slim chance.
Who was talking about a yank in the role? FBF?

If the next 007 is not Henry then it will be an unknown. However the industry has changed since Daniel. And Pierce and Roger were not precisely unknown quantities nor Timothy for that matter.

Exactly. The whole "unknown" thing didn't work like that for either Pierce or Sir Roger or Timothy. Henry Cavill would be similar to them in that sense. Sir Roger was a very well-known actor by the time he became Bond... Henry is not nearly as well-known as he was, but he's now on the mouth of everyone because of Superman.

I'm going to say it right now (watching the Olympics ceremony). David Beckham driving that boat on the Thames (LIVE and not pre recorded) looked a LOT more like James Bond than our friend Craig did throughout that whole recorded thing with the Queen. Of course the Queen overshadowed him, but that goes without saying for anyone... She is, after all, the Queen.

Maybe the Queen could fire Cr-egg? http://i.huffpost.com/gen/705265/thumbs ... -570.jpg?5 "Army helicopters then flew over the Olympic Stadium with a stuntman who played "Bond." He then parachuted into the stadium to the tune of the theme from the James Bond movies." So the crumb's role was NOT live at all :!: All pre-recorded. Who would want to see him live? He adds stench to the proceedings.

Not at all. Harry Potter Branagh actor was shown too much. I thought it is a celebration of the world olympics, not about socialized medicine in the UK. Maybe they should have had people shown standing in line for 4 months to get an mri as well. $40 million for what? 10,000 extras were volunteers. This Slumdog director never should have been chosen.

Shame, as i thought it was very good. It was basically about the history of Britain through the ages, in regards to its industrialisation, social and culture issues.
Yes, there were some unusaul moments in the ceremony, like the Mr Bean sequence.........and then there was Daniel Craig with his very short Skyfall haircut.
But, thats the British thing, to do things differently.........basically all other countries in the world just perform dance routines only for thier ceremonies.

It did not represent the entirety of the point of any olympics EA, which is to bring together the uniqueness of why we even celebrate such an event globally. What the heck was with the extras doing Mr. Miyagi poses during the industrial revolution?

Just because a movie is IMAX doesn't mean it will surpass its predecessor that isn't in IMAX. LOOK at HP again BJ. You're still NOT getting it. None of the sequels (except DH2) beat SS's gross both worldwide and US, and those include the ones released in IMAX.
It could open above $70 million here then collapse. Pierce never had Imax nor the amount of markets DC has had with his bond films.
If Bond 23 surpasses QOS' $168 million in the US, I'm giving up on the traditional Bond, and you SHOULD be as well BJ. Might as well send in those weirdos to take over as Bond as a response of how STUPID the general public (especially those in the US) really is.

The different is Pierce and Moore didn't have big Cinematic (i mean big screen not tv series) Iconic characters when they being offered the role. Remington Steele and The Saint is not as big as Superman. I think the next 007 would be relatively unknowns actor. Cavill has a slim chance if MOS is his Last Superman film.

Just made myself a cup of coffee so I can stay up to watch all of the opening ceremonies. I'll post my thoughts later but..was it my imagination or was Daniel Craig wearing makeup?(it could have been the lighting, but I kinda doubt it.)

Well, this was based on the actual NHS, not the lies peddled by the health insurance industry and its lobbyists in the US in order to scare people into sticking with for-profit medicine. I had an MRI recently and only had to wait a week.

http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/ Well Spider-Kid dropped to 6th place behind the R-rated Ted. It's only $170 million behind Tobey's USA first film total in 2002. Talk about a front loaded film. It literally keeled over and is sinking now in the USA. Internationally is another story it seems. I guess people overseas like to watch a talking Godzilla. TDKR dropped a whopping 75% from it's opening last Friday as well. It will do what TDK would have done if Ledger never died, which inflated that picture's box office a certain amount." For Hollywood studios, the importance of the international box office has affected the kinds of films that get made and even the diversity of the actors and filmmakers being featured."

NHS dancing doctors was plain weird. Nobody else in the world know what NHS is why take real doctors and force them to dance.
The cometary by NBC was annoying perhaps if they feel they have to explain a skit maybe the skit should be simplified.

I'm not sure what the opening ceremony was about. The feeling I had, and I want to be careful saying this not to offend, felt like it said we were once a great nation. It was a celebration of movie characters (& singers) instead of the people. In another way it was aimed at the people of the UK instead of the world.

Craig was Ok (didn't think I'd say this) I'm sure most people watching though he was some dumb body guard. The dogs stole the show why did Craig feel he had to sneer at them in the helicopter? got one up on the puppies I guess. I music at the end made it a better than the trailer for the real movie coming out. And it was better to have Craig "react" (if that is what his face was doing ;) ) to the people and statues waving it would of been beneath the Queen.

Compared to what was rumored this was ok but I still think it cheapened event for the Queen to jump to the olympics. Using Craig as "Bond" was a waste and cheapened the idea of Bond. Although what came after in the show I see why they thought this was a good way to set the tone.

Now the Chinese knew how to have an opening ceremony, I can't remember what Atlanta did probably was just as bad as London.

Best part of the opener was Mr Bean. Strangely his skit was the most appropriate.
