new movie display of Cr-egg on the floor.......where he belongs: http://i.imgur.com/aDXh6.jpg In a poll from Gold Derby – to which over a thousand individuals have responded – more than sixty percent believe The Dark Knight Rises will be a Picture nominee, with more than a third of that group thinking it’ll win. On a similar note, David Germain of Associated Press states that Nolan’s third and final installment to his Batman trilogy “probably has the best chance ever for a superhero film to rise into the best-picture mix at February’s Oscars.”

BJ....you don't think Stewart cheating on Rob will cause any drop in attendance for Twilight 4.5, would it? Bond 23 must not receive any attention, especially here in the US.

[quote="BlowfeldAre there any other publicly traded movie companies? Wouldn't this entail they have to open their books publicly?
Someone I asked cynically said they thought MGM was trying to cash in on Skyfall and the Hobbit before they have to show profit on them. Selling the idea more than the product.
I don't know I suppose it depends when they are planning on going public.[/quote]
They would have to report their total company earnings every three months. They wouldn't open their books for individual movies. If a movie bombed especially badly, it may get noted. Disney (which has movies, TV, theme parks) recorded a $200 million hit on John Carter and disclosed it publicly because it lost so much money.
The publicly traded companies include Disney, Time Warner, News Corp., Sony. They're all companies with different businesses. A publicly traded MGM would be a TV-movie company only.

Who knows, it might actually increase the box office just like Ledger's demise did with Bat II.FormerBondFan wrote:BJ....you don't think Stewart cheating on Rob will cause any drop in attendance for Twilight 4.5, would it? Bond 23 must not receive any attention, especially here in the US.

You better hope this doesn't affect Twilight finale's attendance. Otherwise, we might as well go for weirdos to take over as Bond.bjmdds wrote:FBF, this is an Eon plot? http://wonderwall.msn.com/movies/gossip ... 57.gallery This is not good

July 26: Hiding out since the news broke, a source close to Pattinson tells Us the actor is "really depressed. He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know if he should forgive her or not." Another source close to both stars tells Us that Stewart is "devastated. She's very angry at herself. She's really not blaming anyone but herself." A third source adds, "Rob is beyond devastated. He's so heartbroken. He's shocked she could hurt him and humiliate him this way. I can't see why they would. If anything, it wouldn't surprise me if the stars' handlers put them up to this in order to generate publicity for the movie.FormerBondFan wrote: You don't think people would stay away from the Twilight finale because of this, would it BJ?

We have another Rebel releasing on the same date as Bond 23, and that Rebel is Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

Another point everyone seems to be missing here as well..........is that you are all talking about American actors who have been in big films taking over as Bond.
Firstly, i doubt EON would pick an American actor as first choice unless there is no suitable candidate available from the British Commonwealth countries....
and i cant see Sony ever wanting someone who is known in a big film franchise as Batman or Superman ever being selected.
To be honest, i think the next Bond is more likely to be a relatively unknown British actor................the only thing we all dont know is when!
EA

But we have that now EA, don't we?
It's reported that James Bond star Daniel Craig will kick off tonight's event with a 007-style landing into the Olympic Stadium.
Daniel is said to be parachuting in from a helicopter as the climax of a short film called The Arrival.
The Queen is even said to be making a special appearance, issuing Daniel with his latest mission to launch the Games.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “Daniel Craig is determined to open the ceremony with a bang and he and the BBC producers have pulled out all the stops.
“The world will be watching and they are happy to go to any length to make sure the stunts are as thrilling as possible." http://www.torontostandard.com/images/u ... 4_main.jpg

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises has grossed $44 million on Thursday, with the current international total being $149.2 million. Domestically, the critically acclaimed finale to The Dark Knight trilogy has grossed $224.8M in its first seven days (including a $160.9M opening weekend), compared to $238.6M for 2008's The Dark Knight.
Overall, the film has grossed $374M to date (which is a higher gross than Batman Begins' entire theatrical run in 2005). Despite pacing slightly behind The Dark Knight (many box office observers believe that last week's tragic Colorado shooting to be at least partly responsible), the shooting doesn't appear to be hurting the film's international intake. The Dark Knight Rises opens in a total of 40 foreign markets this week following its debut in 17 countries last weekend. The threequel has currently grossed $36.6M in the UK, $21.5M in Korea, $20.7M in Australia and $6.5M in Spain.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
This weekend's predictions and revenue results go as follows:
1. "The Dark Knight Rises" ($71 million) - The real factor here is how many will attend the film the second weekend who didn't go opening weekend? With the the tragic shooting in Colorado driving away some audiences, how many will return or simply wait feeling it's still not the best time to return to the theater? Never before has a film had such a cloud hanging over it regarding events that were out of its control.
2. "The Watch" ($16 million) - Very lukewarm buzz here - film looks to easily disappoint despite the high profile comedy cast. Film's concept has never really caught on with audiences, so look for mid-level results here.
3. "Step Up Revolution" ($15 million) - Close battle here for the runner-up position. Film is a franchise entry, but much box office steam has been let out of the "Step Up" name over the years? Add to that the film's absurd plot and "Revolution's" fate is now entirely tied to its dance choreography. If audiences like the dance numbers, film could rise to the runner-up position. If not, look for the lowest box office tally in the franchise to date.
4. "Ice Age: Continental Drift" ($11 million) - Film will grab some family audiences and easily break the $100 million domestic mark. Film already has amassed $450 million just in overseas markets. Incredible.
5. "The Amazing Spider-Man" ($6 million) - The troubles only continue for this one after last weekend's astonishing drop (fell 68.6 percent). Film will have to fight off "Ted" just to hold a top five spot, look for a close battle here that could go either way.
