I think it's going to be beaten by Skyfall no matter what. But I don't see why they would change the release date, as they are not competing for the same audience. They probably chose that release date specifically as counterprogramming, to try and pull in people who wouldn't go and see a Bond film anyway, and who are looking for an alternative.
It won't beat Bond 23 but it could sway about 1 million less tickets purchased with an Oscar buzz alternative and that would translate into $8-10 million less revenue at the box office for DC's flop. Every bit helps, right FBF?
Yep.

http://cdn-images.hollywood.com/site/an ... poster.jpg 'Anna Karenina': Keira Knightley Starts the Oscar-Buzzing Early:

By Kelly Schremph , Hollywood.com Staff | Wednesday, June 20, 2012 Love is never easy — even back in 19th century Russia. The first trailer and poster for director Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina has been unveiled, featuring high-society aristocrat Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) smack dab in the middle of a life-changing affair with the oh-so charming Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson). The problem is, she's already married to a high class government official Alexei Karenin (Jude Law).

So as she struggles to straddle the line between finding true love and following society's expectations, a vast amount of trouble ensues. There's passion, dancing, adultery, and a fully-bearded Jude Law (what's not to love, right?). And while this may sound like it has all the makings of a boring, run-of-the-mill period piece about love vs. honor, the visual effects are absolutely gorgeous to the point where you can't help but be enthralled at least a little bit.

Is it better than the Avengers MP? http://www.filmnav.co.uk/wp-content/upl ... 80x453.jpg ?? http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash ... 1423_n.jpg In December, MGW stated "Daniel's been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don't think there's a better actor to play the part." Will he repeat that after Bond 23?

I just checked IMDb and the only film opening against Skyfall in the UK is a documentary about a high school production of The Tempest - the sort of film that will probably open on a handful of arthouse screens and whose audience will be numbered in dozens rathet than millions. It's interesting that they are opening the film here a couple of weeks before its US opening. It suggests that they are not at all confident about its US box office take and hope to have a solid international opening behind it first - a tactic that worked so well for Tintin and Battleship _.///

I didn't see The Avengers so can't speak to it. My nephews liked it, but my dad just thought it was so-so.

Prometheus was really good though. I found myself laughing inappropriately at a couple of scenes that weren't intended to be.

Everything about this film is not adding up to any box office blockbuster for Eon at all. EA and Sweeney, not Todd, will deliver the reviews first with you.

Opening the uk first mean it will be on the internet that weekend weeks before it his the US. I kind of feel it will maybe do MIB 3 numbers if it has a bigger opening weekend than QOS. I don't know Imax will help it out since it isn't filmed for it.
What would be interesting is if in the UK Spyfall fails to beat QOS by the time it hits the us the headlines of disappointing Bond will already be written. Good or bad story will not come in to it if it don't beat the US or UK .

They are predicting a weak spiderman bo because of TDKR, same movie audience so it makes sense but spiderman has what 3 weeks and they don't believe the reboot will sell well after all the first origins story is barely 10 years old. But the 3 weeks on its own and no real hope got my attention, Spyfall isn't even going to get that, in some ways MIB3 BO may be too big a hurdle.

Speaking of Spidey reboot, I don't feel that much energy as though not it will not do Tobey's numbers.

What did I tell you FBF about this trash 2 months ago? Tobey was king of Spiderman films. His films were EAGERLY anticipated. Garfield looks hideous as an actor. Flop-ola for sure compared to Tobey's. Save your money. Once TDKR opens, Garfield's flick should go straight to DVD for it will OFFICIALLY be on the box office scrap heap by then. I really do not like this film FBF. It was an insult to Tobey to be canned ala Pierce. His real life girlfriend looks like a mannequin without any personality. Rubbish I tell you. Rubbish :!:

The idea of the 2nd Batreboot is even worse than the Spidey reboot.

Batman reboot will be a HUGE flop if done or will the actor from 500 Days Of Summer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt(A hard-nosed young Gotham beat cop who is secretly helping Batman to bring down the super-villain known as Bane) be anointed the next Batman at the end of the flick and not really be a reboot but a continuation? http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertain ... 9776.story I told you this might beat The Avengers. Spiderman 3 was not well received, so they probably needed to do something, besides, Isn't Tobey well into his 30s by now? Too old to still be playing Spiderman. Still, I'm not sure a total reboot was needed, just a recast and making sure that the screenplay didn't suffer the problems of the last film (too many villains and subplots). Does anyone really want to see Spidey's origin story again?

The Batreboot is totally unnecessary in general. Why reboot the franchise so soon when it's at the top of the game? If you want a Batreboot, save it for another 20 years or so. If WB wants the Bat to continue dominating the screens, at least have Dick Grayson to take Bruce Wayne's place as the dark knight, and Grayson did became the Bat in comics when Wayne mysteriously disappeared..

The story boards are hard to read because of how its broken up but the weird images used for James Bond hilarious. Almost impossible to tell who is "Bond" and who is the bad guy.
Spoiler Bond is killed in the opening sequence being shot off a train by eve and falling in the water under the bridge.. ohnoes!!!!!!!!!! Also Adele is singing the theme. _.//

Still, there has been some concern about the box office potential of The Dark Knight Rises, most of which revolves around Bane and Catwoman being unworthy successors to Heath Ledger's Joker. Those doubts have been largely assuaged by Warner Bros. astute marketing campaign: the studio has gone above and beyond to show that Bane is Batman's toughest physical adversary yet, and one of the teaser posters even suggests Batman is defeated at some point. Add in the tagline "The Legend Ends" and the ensuing speculation that Bruce Wayne may not survive the movie, and this is shaping up to be a nearly-unprecedented movie-going event.

A big boon to Dark Knight Rises grosses will be additional IMAX revenue. The Dark Knight only opened at 94 IMAX locations, and since then the large format screens have tripled in number in North America. With roughly an hour of IMAX footage (compared to The Dark Knight's 40 minutes or so), The Dark Knight Rises will likely sell out IMAX theaters for the better part of its nearly-two-month exclusive window.

Even with this IMAX boost, it may be tough to top The Avengers's record debut ($207.4 million) or its overall haul (on track for at least $620 million). But initial tracking suggests that the movie will debut higher than its predecessor ($158.4 million), and if it turns out to be a worthy follow-up, look out.
