I love classic sci-fi films.......1951 The Day The Earth Stood Still..the remake STUNK....1951 The Thing From Another World...the remake STUNK...Close Encounters,Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. are all enjoyable. To this date I have NEVER watched any Alien films, except Predator vs. Alien. I am not into gory sci-fi films.

MPAA Rating: PG-13 Production Budget: $170 million---- This "Gladiator-ish" Stewart film costs more than Bond 23's reported $150 million? Snow White costs more to make than Bond?
Snow White is kicking MIB3 ass, but BJ where did the $150 million skyfall numbers come from? I try to keep up with it but I don't remember anything besides the news paper speculation the budget had been cut , is there something new?

No way snow white should be $170 million dollars what the hell is Hollywood spending all the money on.

MIB 3 dropped 53 percent to an estimated $8.3 million on Friday. On the surface that looks like a steep decline, but most sequels that open over Memorial Day fall at least 60 percent. It was about even with Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and if it follows that movie's pace for the weekend it will wind up with over $27 million. Through eight days, MIB 3 has earned $91.3 million, which is off from Men in Black II's $103.9 million. The Avengers eased 42 percent to $5.65 million. That was enough to push the movie past The Dark Knight ($533.3 million) to claim third place on the all-time domestic chart with $538.1 million. The movie also moved ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 to take third on the all-time worldwide chart with $1.331 billion. That's as high as The Avengers will go—there's no way it catches James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic—but it will wind up way over $1.4 billion before its run is over. (By next weekend The Avengers should be on par with MIB:3, and overtake it shortly after).

When i saw 'Prometheus' last night...i'll tell you what, hollywood is really pushing the advertising on the forthcoming 'Spiderman'.

Normally you get one advert for a film, but there were 2 for Spiderman, and the second one was at least 3-5 mins long, couldnt believe it, i thought i had gone into watch the wrong film. It looked quite good though..........but after the recent Spidey films it remains how well received the new Spidey will do.
How is the advertising going down in North America for this film?

Charlize's Snow White does NOT look family friendly. The other one, with Julia Roberts was more so,by the look of the ads.

Disney announced this morning that Marvel’s The Avengers became the third highest grossing film yesterday domestically passing The Dark Knight ($533M), and the third highest grossing film globally passing Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($1,328M). But these records are not adjusted for higher ticket prices, inflation, or 3D premiums. The Avengers‘ estimated cumulative performance to date as of Friday is international $793.2M and domestic $538.1M for a worldwide cume of $1,331.3M. It currently stands as the #5 film of all-time internationally (#4 is Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with $803M). Domestically, it crossed $500M in just 23 days, setting a new speed record overtaking Avatar which took 32 days.
Meantime, we have a new winner coming: Snow White and the Huntsman is doing VERY well and it only cost $172 mln to make. (it's normal that it cost this, it's ACTION, it's not a fairytale movie, nor was it ever intended to be). I don't like Kristen Stewart, but BOY do I like Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, so I'm going to see it.
Based on new numbers coming in, my sources now say Universal’s #1 film Snow White And The Huntsman (3,773 theaters) came in at $20.3M Friday and bumped up to $21.5M Saturday. That makes for $56.1M this domestic weekend. The result is better than expected for the 2D original fantasy actioner that cost $172M and didn’t have the benefit of a 3D premium or franchise recognition. Despite decent reviews, audiences gave the PG-13 movie a so-so ‘B’ CinemaScore which could have affected word of mouth but didn’t. (As evidenced by the Friday to Saturday jump.)

Speaking of which, we’ve waited long enough: Frank, what’s going on with Indy 5? Is Indy going to the Bermuda Triangle?

"No, no, no," Marshall says.

“If you think about it, in an Indiana Jones movie there’s gotta be that quest, that object. It’s the Crystal Skull or the Lost Ark. The Bermuda Triangle doesn’t fit into that. I could feel with full confidence, without even talking to George or Steven, that we weren’t doing that.”

He has authorized the following message: A new Indy movie is no closer than it was six months ago. Rumors that Frank Marshall will be at the center of it, and asked to do something demented, are probably accurate.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Richard Dawson, the wisecracking British entertainer who was among the schemers in the 1960s sitcom "Hogan's Heroes" and a decade later began kissing thousands of female contestants as host of the game show "Family Feud" has died. He was 79.
Dawson, also known to TV fans as the Cockney POW Cpl. Peter Newkirk on "Hogan's Heroes," died Saturday night from complications related to esophageal cancer at Ronald Reagan Memorial hospital, his son Gary said.

http://www.eonline.com/news/green_lante ... his/320646 Last year a gay Spiderman was announced too. How long before EON turns their creation as well? At that point, bury this franchise for good. I see some measure of bisexuality being thrown in by Bond 26 or 27. This is how the current Hollywood producers show their originality........by "redefining" classic characters of literary fame.

Better for Spidey reboot to make more than Bond 23 at the box office than the other way around, especially here in the US.

Predicted Gross:
The Dark Knight Rises ($1.1 billion)
Man of Steel ($600-700 million)
The Amazing Spiderman ($600 million)
Bond 23 (hopefully much less than both QOS' and MIB3's gross, especially here in the US)

I read that the Spider-Man test screenings got a bad reaction so they are tinkering with the film and showing you all the best stuff in the trailers to make it look good. You never know, it might be ok. There is a sense though that it's too soon to be rebooting Spider-Man and that they are only making this film to retain the rights.

Very likely, given that they already had a Rosa Klebb homage in Irina Spalko, they're definitely going in that direction. But the real question is, whether they'll get anything done at all. Lucas seems to procrastinate until the last moment with the plots he'd suppoed to provide (he even did that on the Star Wars prequels) and Spielberg, who is normally extremely active, doesn't want to order his best friend around. So I think the odds are only 1 out of 3 that they'll ever be Indy 5.

The first 3 Indys pays tribute to the adventure serials of the '30s while Indy 4 pays tribute to sci-fi B-films of the '50s. As for Indy 5, it will take place in the 60s so it would most likely to pay tribute to the spy genre.

Ale and I totally disagree on Garfield's Spiderman. I predict a dud lucky to do half of what Tobey's did.
