EON rushes into production half ready because they don't do due diligence before hand, somehow they land on their feet most of the time. When they hired Craig there was supposed to be a plan for a trilogy, what he was signed for, obviously they never had a trilogy. Hell they didn't have a plan for the sequel movie they're were supposed to originally drop in May 2008.
Amy Pascal didn't want Craig, she is part of the reasons he had a 24hr screen test and she was talking to Pierce about coming back a few weeks before Craig was anointed, presumably Craig was already signed at this point. Once the deal is done - announced they have to follow through enthusiastically. "There is no s**t like our s**t! Wait until you see our s**t! It's the s**t!"
A lot of dirty stuff happened leading up to CR. And Craig wasn't as innocent as people like to think. He has a bad rep for reason, same reason Hugh Jackman said he didn't like him.
THANK YOU for pointing this out and doing so with such clarity, Mazer. I very well remember the Hugh Jackman comments as I have been following him closely for a LONG time. I thought I was the only one who remembered that.
LOL, I saw the Heineken stuff on TMZ. I am glad to hear at least Lazenby has had the guts to publicly comment about it and tell them how ridiculous it is and ludicrous, too. And he's right, it's not the best beer out there, either. What levels have we sunk to, in the name of "we need anything to make money, forget about continuity, forget about who James Bond is, forget about anything to do with the actually stylish, suave, charming, yet cold-blooded killer fella we had in the books. We just need a random killer who drinks beer." Well then I can go watch any other action movie with a leading man that's actually a leading man and who for sure looks a ZILLION times better than Daniel freaking Craig. The Cold Light of Day comes to mind. I really enjoyed it, and sorry but I'll take Henry Cavill in sneakers and T-shirt over Daniel Craig in a tux ANY day.
Sweeney, you said you didn't have much problem with the trailer and then listed three major reasons... you do know that's an oxymoron, right?
