And well if he was for England, then I guess.

Lots of people used to joke that they could be the next Bond even thought they were unsuitable for the role. Then Eon cast someone who looks nothing like the Fleming/cinematic Bond, so anyone can be Bond now!

Equal opportunity! Yep, we'll have all sorts of people audition for Bond next time around, like little people(although wouldn't Craig be considered one?carl stromberg wrote:Lots of people used to joke that they could be the next Bond even thought they were unsuitable for the role. No one suggested Daniel Craig as a Bond candidate before 2005 when it was revealed that Barbara wanted her "close personal friend" to take over. Maybe Barbara has another bizarre choice lined up.

Bab's remindes Me of Other Rich Kids who take over their Parents Bisiness, and start getting rid of Loyal old staff to make way for new young people with great new Ideas to Improve the old Formula. After all what did Cubby Know about making sucessful Movies.
I can't believe the amount of control handed over to M Forester He basicly brought in his own Crew( a Wrecking crew
) and they signed off on it.I persume they were happy with the finished product, even if now they accept the editing was crazy In another way they seem to be sending out the signal that their like old people using computers but feel they need young people to show them how it works, i.e. They don't understand modern film making.

On the close personal friend thing:So does that mean that she has a bunch of equally unsuitable "friends of Babs" all at the ready when Craig retires?

Dear God, please no. The only good thing about this whole matter is that luckily Babs won't have nearly as much power as she used to. It's the ONLY good side of this horrid bankruptcy situation.katied wrote:On the close personal friend thing:So does that mean that she has a bunch of equally unsuitable "friends of Babs" all at the ready when Craig retires?
Otherwise, we really may find ourselves with Norman Reedus as a contender, like someone posted in the Bond alternatives forum

Actually I have a cliping from a newspaper somewhere with Craig being mentioned as a 'frontrunner' for the Bond role dating back to 2004.carl stromberg wrote:No one suggested Daniel Craig as a Bond candidate before 2005 when it was revealed that Barbara wanted her "close personal friend" to take over. This was even before Pierce had vacated the role.
If I can dig it out, I'll scan it to show you.

I found an article about DC denying getting the role on MI6 back in 2004. The responses indicate quite a shift in attitude since then.Captain Nash wrote: Actually I have a clipping from a newspaper somewhere with Craig being mentioned as a 'frontrunner' for the Bond role dating back to 2004.

Quite amusing to read how some changed the tune huh? At least I can happily say that I knew he was wrong, I firmly opposed the casting idea and I wasn't proved wrong once the movies were released. Quite the opposite, they reinforced my negative opinion. Yeah, I don't care about the box office. That's because it's James Bond, not because Daniel Craig is the actor. Bond brings in the money, not Craig. Not to mention that about QoS there are lots of doubts whether those results are actually nearly as good as they seem, especially considering the non-existent DVD sales.Kristatos wrote:I found an article about DC denying getting the role on MI6 back in 2004. To say there was a shift in attitude is putting it mildly
I'm sure that will happen when they're casting the next Bond.

To be fair, if you read that thread at Mi6 you'll notice that of the four pages worth of comments, only 2 or 3 members are still posting on that site.
Hardly evidence of a change of opinion, to be honest.
Unlike myself though, who always has given Craig the benefit of the doubt. Whilst QOS is terrible, I do not blame Craig for this.
I'm a firm believer of waiting for the finished product (in this case CR) before commenting on how good or bad a film is.
Something many fans cannot claim to have done. Writing him off before a single frame had been shot.
Each to their own I guess.

A problem for a lot of the doubters was they thought Craig didn't look like Bond. It doesn't really matter what the film is like if you feel that way.

Re: Your choice for Bond in Bond 23
That's also a good point. If I don't see the main character, James Bond, in the movie, the movie will never be a Bond one to me. And I sure feel this way about Craig. But, to top it off, they also dumped ALL the essential elements that make Bond who he is in the movies. And QoS was just BAD. I thought CR sucked too, but the consensus on that one is different. Still, no self-respecting Bond fan can say QoS was even a decent movie. Even Craig knows it wasn't good and demanded a change.007 wrote:A problem for a lot of the doubters was they thought Craig didn't look like Bond. I was reading that Steven Berkoff aka General Orlov, would love to appear in another Bond film.katied wrote:Apparently they're just casting anyone as far as villains goes.I'm sure we'll have a motley bunch of candidates next time around.
I say let's do it. He's a great villain, and a wonderful actor.

Re: Your choice for Bond in Bond 23
I feel that jerry sadowitz would make an excellent james Bond. with his darkly cruel good lucks and rougged handsomness, not to mention his sexy Scottish accent..he 'd have all the bad guys quaking in their boots and the the female villians changing sides in no time! yes, he'd ahev to cut his hair but is it just me, or can others see how exciting this could be? I'm nt sure if his height 's up to scratch, but in all other departments, the guy is virile, sexy and "physical". Also the fact that he's a bit of an "unknown" lends itself to the role of the enigmatic charismati spy. (Wasn't Sean Connery relatively little known befoe he took on the role as the super sleuth?). Also, he's in the right age bracket. He's certainly dreamy to me! Girls..are you with me on this one??
