Jaws II was barely tolerable. Jaws 3 and 4 should be burned and tossed away. BOTH are trash films. Jaws I is an excellent film, one of my favorites. If the Bourne films have ended ,Skywalker, will Eon capitalize on Bourne's success and continue Bond in this manner, or will they return Bond to normalcy, once Craig leaves the role, for there is NO way he can be a suave ,licensed to kill spy.
It depends on audience tastes. If, by the time Craig leaves the role, the whole Bourne thing is considered a bit passe, then they may well bring Bond back. But it's more likely that they'll just change him again to copy whatever spy/thriller movie happens to be fashionable at the time.bjmdds wrote:Jaws II was barely tolerable. The bad thing for the anti-Craigs is that nothing that any of us do will make any difference.
The boycott ( yeah remember that, went well didn't it ?
) and even this site will not stop EON making another Bond film starring Daniel Craig. But then again all of the die hard Bond fans, whether pro- or anti- cannot change anything. We make up such a small part of the overall audience that it wont harm a film.
The only way to do that is for the money to drop off when the next film is released. And being that Bond has a strange place in many peoples minds then I can't see that happening. Bond is an event, a must do. People go to see Bond, because it's Bond. So you don't like Craig, well we're all different I think he gave a fantastic debut in CR and really nailed the part. The best characterisation of the Bond character since Dalton. (Who btw I wasn't that keen on when he landed the role in 1986, but after TLD I was sold)
So continue with this displeasure of a well received actor playing the worlds favourite spy. Churn out the same arguments over and over, and get those crystal balls to try
and predict how Broccoli and Craig will fail. Your efforts are futile unless you can persuade joe public to not see the next Bond film.

Some of you guys here talk as if Craig was some sort of antichrist,
and you cant wait to see the back of him, and to get another actor
in the role of Bond.
BUT............what makes you think that you will LIKE the next actor in the role that the producers will pick.
If the Craig films are all successful, then the producers may pick say
another (un Bond like actor.....in your opinion) for the role.
Basically you could end up waiting 2 or 3 decades if ever getting a
Bond actor that you would accept.
'Captain Nash's' post was spot on............
The producers make the choices for the current direction of the films, but
its the worldwide audience that will determine the direction and fate
of Bond in the future..............and currently the current direction has hit the spot with the public en masse.....and DC and CR has even impressed previous Bond, Pierce Brosnan.

...........reading other posts here, i see that some of you people think that
Craig in CR does not show any class or sophistication in the role of Bond.
..........but that was what CR was all about............it was about basically
a rookie goverment employed hitman learning the ropes of his job in being able to adapt and socialise in any situation in life in which his missions put him in to be able to carry out his job.
In CR for instance we see Bond transend as a guy running around in casual clothes at the start of the film, to one being converted by the high life from his experiences at the Casino and so forth, to acquiring the
mannerisms and trappings, in being able to socialize with people in those circles and dressing to suit.............and by the end of the film you have the Bond figure that everyone knows..........and Craig pulled that off with ease.
Its not that difficult to figure out!!!

I recall that scene. But he didn't SHOUT when he said it. Because there was no need too.bjmdds wrote:As Andy Dufrain says to Red in one of my all time favorite films:"HOPE...IS A GOOD THING"...so we will continue to do so as the public decides whether or not they have had enough of Craig,as Bond.

Blimey!! Skywalker.
Dont you remember the scenes where he learns about Martinis,
learns to wear Dinner jackets and how he acquires the Aston Martin?
You may disagree.......but thats what happened in the 2006 film.
You sure you weren't watching the 1967 spoof film?

I think most people learn about Martini's when their 17 not late 30's. As for learning how to wear a dinner jacket 'Are you taking the p*ss"? The guy was an officer in the Armed forces for a number of years. Surely, he would be able to afford one and had numerous occassions where he would have been required to wear one.Arthur Brain wrote:Dont you remember the scenes where he learns about Martinis,Skywalker wrote:

In his meeting with Dryden he looks smart with a nice fitted suit. Next minute he's crashing through walls and crane jumping looking like a Polish hod carrier.

Don't you remember when James Bond knew all about martinis, always looked good in a dinner jacket, and was given the car in question by Q branch? This is not Miami Vice, this is James Bond. Casting Craig to portray this naive rookie you described is ludicrous in your context of approaching CR as a prequel to Dr. No. He is beyond the look of a rookie, way beyond it.Arthur Brain wrote:Eh!!!Skywalker wrote:Totally disagree with your entire post.Arthur Brain wrote:...........reading other posts here, i see that some of you people think that

I was basically fine with Eon's selections for 44 years, except from 1987-1989, until this travesty. We can only hope "James Bond 7 will return" 'to basics' in looks, with style over grunge, with suaveness as an inherent quality instead of a learned entity, and with more reliance on the gadget driven aspect of his survival as a secret agent. Craig is anti all of that.Arthur Brain wrote:Some of you guys here talk as if Craig was some sort of antichrist,

The rookie agent thing was a handy get out of jail card for Craig and his supporters. If you say "To be honest, I think Craig lacks the refined qualities needed for Bond and came across a bit thuggish" they can say that was the whole point, a young agent with raw edges. The problem is, Craig was 38 in CR. A bit old for that angle.
If Craig mumbles his way through the next one like a stroppy teenager it would make even less sense because he'll be a couple of years older.

I was not shouting 001, just emphasizing the quote. You know we will continue on until this situation is rectified and Bond once again, returns to being Bond. The grand finale could be July 2010, when Craig's contract runs out.Captain Nash wrote:I recall that scene. But he didn't SHOUT when he said it.
