Breaking News Thread
Re: Breaking News Thread
Now Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has been found dead at the age of 45. Sad, as any death is sad, but hardly surprising.

RIP Alan Simpson. I'll have to listen to some Hancock's Half Hour as a tribute.
RIP to Tara Palmer-Tomkinson too.

Some slightly happier news for a change, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Jason Statham are expecting their first child: http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celeb ... 63181.html
Rosie: "Jason, the baby's kicking."
Voice from inside her womb: "Fink you're a bit tasty do you, you toilet?"

Re: Breaking News Thread
A very versatile actor. I first saw him in the title role of the popular (at the time, though largely forgotten now) '80s sitcom Shelley, but I know he's done a ton of stuff since then.

Re: Breaking News Thread
May god rest Mr Bennett.
I remember him from the original Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Alec Guinness. I saved the dvds for this show and Smiley's People when we moved, still have not got around to watching Smiley's People. John le Carre's stories are interesting I find them a little depressing, I enjoy Bond better even though spy genre purest often criticize Ian Fleming for being loose with the truth of the spy world of the cold war, Fleming never claimed to be a cold war expert.

RIP Hywel Bennett. Shelley was great.
I'd like to watch Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy again too. It was on BBC4 a few years ago.

RIP Bruce Forsyth

Veteran entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth had a career spanning eight decades, in which he went from struggling variety performer to Saturday night TV stardom.
On the way, he became one of the most recognisable entertainers in the business, driven by what appeared to be inexhaustible energy.
He became synonymous with the plethora of game shows that seemed to dominate television light entertainment in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, although he often felt he had become typecast as the genial quizmaster.
And at an age when most performers would have put their feet up, his career enjoyed a huge revival with the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

USA fail to qualify for the World Cup (soccer) in Russia in 2018.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41578895
This means that the US posters on the forum will have zero interest rather than a little next year in the World Cup.

Re: Breaking News Thread
Weird I got a push news update from a new app that said team USA qualified for the first time in 30 years. My reaction was “we have a soccer team??”
Kind of figured we’d lose big because all the other countries as so serious about it. Guess we never qualified and it was fake news.

The US lost in the qualifier to Panama in controversial circumstances because the Panama goal did not cross the line.Omega wrote:Weird I got a push news update from a new app that said team USA qualified for the first time in 30 years. My reaction was “we have a soccer team??”

A lot of that going around. NFL called a touchdown a fumble changing the outcome of a game last week.mcbride007 wrote:
