How the hell do you "phase in" a new Bond? I wouldn't be surprised if Sony wanted to keep Craig, though, even as everyone is on tenterhooks waiting to hear who is going to replace him.
'Phase' in is probably the term to use since Disney's Marvel Pictures uses the word to describe their moive plans.
Usually when the conversation turns to the vulgar topic of money the actor is usually already out the door, leaking the sum involved is all a smoke screen to keep fans happy. In this instance who knows. Daniel is such a vulgar chap I would not be surprised for the talk of money to woo him. After all it is why he took the job in the first place.

If they really have to 'phase' in a new 007, hire Pierce to finish off the back to back movies and be done with it. However that makes an assumption history does not support, the idea they have a story arc planned and the stories is ready to film can't be credited. Also history does not support 'finishing' out a 007's era, for 30 years hiring a new actor worked out.

Not to mention he said he would return only and ONLY for the money. So what you have here is a guy with zero star power or charisma who said that and now you throw 150$ million at him? Sounds completely crazy.

How do you "phase in a younger bond" a second movie series ?

Excellent points, just what I was thinking as I read that article!

How does one "phase in" a new Bond you don't hand the role off, unless... EON plans on making the "code name conspiracy" as I call it cannon! I mean why not? We've already been force fed Brofeld!

I also agree emphatically that not recasting would be a colossal let down, so much banter and wild speculation has already been invested in to who will be the next Bond that not doing so would be met with a sizable shrug (not that it would bother EON see Brofeld). Even Craig's staunchest sycophants seem ready to move on, with comments such as "I'd like to see Craig return but... I prefer actor X to take over." That sort of fan "dedication" hardly seems worth the $150mil price tag!

Please NO! That would be absolutely horrendous and the way things have been going, I can actually see them really doing it! Think cut and paste of the Q-introduces-R scene but with Craig and his replacement at the end of the film. *Shudders* Of course, then why stop at two Bonds, why not ten, or a thousand? :happy spin: I gather there were many Bonds in the Casino Royale spoof though I've never managed to sit through that film yet.

if they are doing this casting rumor as a stunt it's a massive fail. nobody is calling for Craig to return, if it's a stunt to have people come to the conclusion only Craig is suitable to be bond everyone it too wrapped up in the speculation which started before SP hit theaters.

Suicide Squad has now passed the $300 million mark domestically, and looks set to outgross Batman v Superman on a considerably smaller budget ($175 million. as opposed to $250 million for BvS).

If Cr-egg remains for 2 more films with a massive pay day, to hell with the franchise. Brosnan was deemed too old at 49 to continue but it's now acceptable for Cr-egg to go into his 50s in the role? :!:  FBF, your thoughts :!:

You're all wasting your time on this corrupted franchise. Bond is nothing but memories now. He's too far gone to be saved. Worry about Star Wars and The Wizarding World instead.

If that's how you feel, why are you posting on a Bond forum, rather than on Mugglenet and/or The Force?

I'm with Kris on this and have often asked myself the same question.

FBF, with all due respect, constantly repeating this line ad-nauseam, you are (whether intentional or not) advocating we just drop all Bond discussions and turn this forum in to a de facto Harry Potter/Star Wars fan site. Which begs the question as asked, why are you wasting your time here? I get that you have moved on, more power to you, you are a better man than I, but if you have truly moved on and are as you name implies a former Bond fan, why hang around here? And to be quite frank you only swoop in here to repeat yourself, much like a toy I had as a child where I would pull a string and it would deliver one of 4 pre-recorded lines;

Zip: Bond is not for us anymore!
Zip: Anyone or anything can be Bond now!
Zip: Traditional Bond types should stay away from the franchise!
Zip: I will not participate in Bond so long as that B!tch is still in charge!

Am I missing any? Look I'm no Hemmingway, none of us are, but friend, buddy, like Tiffany Case said to Bond in DAF "Come up with something original." As I mentioned earlier, I mean you no disrespect and if you are offended by this I apologize for doing so, but I believe what I say and feel this is something that needs to be articulated, for your own good.

I never said anything about turning this into a Star Wars/Harry Potter domain. My point is that we can honor those good times from 1962 to 2002, but hoping the traditional tall and dark-haired to return is another story. Why not go for something for Kingsman films, the latest Mission: Impossible films or some other Bond inspired films that we not know about yet?

Star Trek turns 50 today. Have you notice something difference between Bond and Trek at their respective 50th years? Hint: compare the box office returns of both SF and STB.

FBF wants to relive the glory days of Bond BEFORE Cr-egg ruined it, and that is why he is on this magnificent forum. Which is fine, but I don't ever recall seeing you participating in discussions on the classic Bond films.
