This thing about throwing loads of money at Craig to entice him to stay in the role.
I can't see how this would work anyway, unless he was totally money obsessed, as he has already made such a staggering fortune out of the 4 Bond films he has done upto now. Surely there comes a point where money doesn't come into it.
Maybe ego to remain in the role does, as what else is he going to do instead?

Money always comes in to it. Craig said himself, "If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money," he told Time Out. Seem pretty unequivocal to me. Has he made piles of money? More money than you or I could ever spend? Yes. So does he "need" to come back? No. Will he come back? That remains to be seen. He may decide enough is enough and move on. But move on to what? As you say "what else is he going to do instead?" He has to make all his money now, as it won't be there later, despite being the reining Bond no one is knocking on his door let alone knocking it down to offer him acting jobs.

True, but he has more than enough money, to just retire and live the rest of his life in comfort. What's the point in wanting even more, it just gives off the impression that if he was to do another Bond that his heart wouldn't be in the film.

The director and the star have said this completes his story arc. Unless Craig finds from some where some sort of excitement for the role he should just step aside. He's never had any real enthusiasm for the role, the people shocked he bad mouthed it in those interviews never paid any attention to what he's said for three movies now.

Barbara may not want him to leave but who really knows she can't do anything besides talk about how wonderful he is even if the sight of him makes her feel sick. The fight casting Craig caused she has to stand by him because it's her ass if he turns out to be a ungrateful half talented Jack ass who bit the hand that fed him. When they recast maybe reboot whenever that happens she has to have a leg to stand on when she says that's the final word on who will be bond.

Craig already walked off the set during sp, until he got his way. He does that again in the next movie and stays gone IMO it'll ruin her as any kind of leader.

Imo there is s lot more than the simple stuff we think about regarding craig and the next movie. The Broccoli's have a lot to lose imo, rival series do what they used to do only better. Mgm owns more bond rights than they do and probably don't need eon to make another cr or thunderball. Cubby probably worried all the time about losing what made bond work, now its their turn. The old series bad and good was never stale, cr as unbond as it was wasn't stale but qos - sp they have been rehashing the same idea over and over not to forget ripping of movies that everyone recognises they ripped off.

BTW
For SF she gave him a new Aston Martin, has he gotten any gifts for eon recently?

But why would he agree to that? If that was the case, you'd think he'd be trying to hide his money away.

He cannot hide it from her. It's too public. She will egg him on to stay as Bond as long as her gravy train lasts with him. Once he is no longer Bond, let's see how long she stays with this no talent bum who has no prospects from any studios. The very role he hated will turn out to be the ONLY role he has left to work in Hollywood with. The irony of it. He has been exposed as a horrid non-Bond lead actor by his fame.

I just hope no one is stupid enough to keep Craig in the role after he said what he said. The studio bursted in anger and rightfully so but what will happen remains to be seen. But,I am almost hopeless we'll ever see another real Bond movie again. EON won't go back to making real Bond movies, not now when they got praised by pretentious critics and elites.

Forget James Bond. What he should look like is no longer relevant anymore. Anybody and anything can be Bond. Instead, give your money to Star Wars, and thank goodness Episode 7 will surpass those blue aliens though I do enjoy all of James Cameron's works. Anyway, it's all about Star Wars on our side now.

Goldfinger is one of the novels that would be entering the public domain in the US this year had Congress not amended the copyright law in 1976: http://boingboing.net/2015/12/31/happy- ... ere-2.html

I love Christoph Watlz but.. he's so much better than the Blofeld/Oberhauser role(even if he updated it and made it a little less cheesy. A little, I said.)

"It was me James, the author of all your pain." Less cheesy, you say? As for his performance,Waltz did what actors do when they don't have anything real to work with...he simply tuned out of the movie and displayed an air of being above it all.

I like him especially in quentin tarantino films. In bond he didn't have much to work with. How do you work with the reduced idea that the baddest villain in bond history did it all because he was jealous of his brudder.

mads mikkelsen had a better role but even he could really build up on it.

Btw the Hannibal actors still get a lot of credit with me for being cool with their fans. They were fired, knew they were fired and were still good to their fans. Craig and other "big" actors can't stand being recognised and are rude for no reason.

Today reading one of our tabloid newspapers i.e. 'The Sun', there was a James Bond article, stating that the Bond producers and studio were going to try to keep Craig, by making the next two Bond films back to back, with the first one ending on a cliffhanger. The reason apparently behind this was because Craig had complained in the past of the long shooting schedules, that kept him away from his family. The article ended saying that Barbara B. 'loved Craig, and would try her best to keep him'.

how does shooting back to back help time with family?

They had this rumor before SP, Craig himself said it was impossible.

The only reason for back to back is to make the cost cheaper for the studio.

Besides Craig only has one movie left in his contract, he got $24 million for SP, he gets a bump in salary each new movie. So it be a huge payday for him, if he's only doing it for the money he might be tempted.

I don't believe any of this because eon has to have their act together like never before.

I wasn't saying take this as fact, its just what is being put out by the British media, just like the story that Waltz will only come back as Blofeld, if Craig comes back as Bond.
Like you said EON would really have to get their ideas together, if they ever thought about doing back to back movies. Anyway Barbara.B has stated that planning of the next Bond won't start until Spring of this year.

I am surprised she did not include a pregnancy clause in Cr-egg's contract, whereby he must sire Broccoli a little Cr-eggster, if she deemed it is what she desired from him. Arthur Brain knows his onions and won the box office prize. Enjoy it Arthur B, or his alter ego, the English Agent :!:

Actually BJ she did! That's why she wants to keep him around for so long, that way by the time Craig leaves their love child will be old enough to take over the role!

As for Waltz and his pretentious comments about Bond films formerly being beneath him, I just saw him in a commercial for "Clash of Clans" one of those cheap online video games, I guess the script was so well crafted and really gave him room to explore his character development, that he couldn't say no!

If Craig does stay on, then i presume we will get the same type of films, as we have seen lately. Well if they do continue in that vein, then at least get someone to write some top notch stories. No more Mendes either, his arty style direction, may appeal to some, but the US audience gave it a thumbs down.
Lets have some fun injected back into the franchise. I know 'Arthur Brain' would appreciate that!
