You are like most people out there I think. There is no real enthusiasm for this film as there was for The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Predictions like this appear every 10 years or so. Maybe this one will turn out to be true. If so, it will be a return to the past. When I was a kid in the '70s, it cost more to see a Disney movie at the cinema than most other movies, due to the law of supply and demand (home video was a luxury for the wealthy, and no Disney movie had ever been shown on British television).

VCR's were prohibitively expensive for most people. But my parents bought one(when they were a relative novelty, too!).These were the days when Beta was still somewhat around(maybe even slightly phased out though) and would have been cheaper.

Friday AM Update: Before regular Friday shows even begin, Man of Steel has already taken in an estimated $21 million. It earned $12 million from Thursday night's Wal-Mart screening program, and an additional $9 million from general midnight shows. While the Wal-Mart shows throw off the calculation a bit, this is without-a-doubt a very strong start for a non-sequel, and it's very likely that the movie winds up with at least $100 million through Sunday.

Note: Because the Wal-Mart shows occured exclusively on Thursday, Box Office Mojo will be recording those grosses on that day.

Forecast: With an incredibly strong brand and an aggressive, bold marketing effort, Man of Steel is set to fly high this weekend—so high, in fact, that it's almost guaranteed to set a new opening weekend record for the month of June.

The Superman reboot, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, opens in 4,207 locations, which is the second-widest release ever for a non-sequel.

It'll probably have a bigger 2nd weekend drop-off than those films. But the opening weekend looks to be on a par with them.

If this does occur, it will destroy Sk-Awful's USA weekend opening by 60%, but will it sustain it's momentum and surpass the $300 million USA mark like Bond 23 did?

Just leaving the theater, MOS is going to open big IMO. We went to the same early time as we did for Trek 2 except this time the theater was almost full.

Cavill is good as superman. In fact I like superman as a character and I didn't before.

Story works out well, even telling it with a few flashbacks it lends merit to what is going on. Only complaints are the same I always have for superman, flailing powers under certain circumstances which would make no sense if he has 30 years of energy stored up. Can't just switch it off with whatever.

Good cast except Lois lane she is too old for the main love interest, good as a reporter but not as leading female for Clark want to date.

Though I would follow that kyrptionian girl in to the phantom zone.

I kept thinking if this guy had been bond in 2006 he be awesome at it and they would of hit the billion dollar mark long ago. Maybe too late to get him now possibly it will be remembered as one of the great missed casting stories of Hollywood

$9 million from midnight showing is pretty big. Who knew Walmart could generate that kind on money for a movie. d**n! Bet a lot more movies will be offered through Walmart.

If it does well it's a plus for the Justice League's beginning film.

I really don't want a justice league movie, I'd like a superman sequel that doesn't screw it up. DC haven't done the ground work for the movie any way, they have two established Heroes batman and superman, green lantern got made but wasn't a success, so now we suddenly get the legion of doom and justice league going at it. I don't think the dc movie world is ready to go avengers on us.

I'd say make Mos 2, a new batman, add a few of the characters not on the CW to the movie line up. Bring back Wonder Woman (which Dc/WB fired josh whedon from, he went on to make the avengers bet dc is kicking themselves for missing out)

As far as the paying more for blockbusters...I don't see all that many, so it won't affect me. I kinda hope dollar movie theaters make a comeback, as a "F you" to big chains like AMC, etc.
