A black Bond would be interesting.

Fleming wrote the Bond novels at a time when the British Empire was crumbling and British influence in general was in decline. Bond represented a sort of nationalist fantasy. Making him black would play against the stereotypes. Of course a lot of white males would be threatened by the very idea and in the end making movies is about making money.

Yup.There's been a lot of TV ads for it...I'll be interested to see what DVD/Blu Ray sales are like..or is it going to be like QOS where there's a display at the front of the store for the first day or so, then it gets moved to the back of the store? :D

I'm glad you mentioned the word fantasy - although for readers it was more of a lifestyle fantasy. Many Craig fans I encounter act as if the books were like Alan Sillitoe. I once had an argument with someone on AIC because he said that Bond films should never contain a single solitary joke or moment of levity. He was serious too.

There was a guy on AFJB many years ago who argued the same thing. It may have been the same bloke, I dunno. He once said that The Spy Who Came In From The Cold represented his ideal Bond film, even though it was a conscious reaction to Bond. It's a bit like saying that Never Mind The Bollocks is the perfect Pink Floyd album.

I'm done with it now........UNTIL the correct Bond is chosen :!: FBF, what say yee? A new Pope will be chosen via an enclave of religious leaders. Why don't we choose the next Bond in our own enclave and then have Broccoli let out the white smoke once WE have found the BEST new Bond choice, so the world can rejoice and FBF can become OnceAgainABondFan :!:  Mp, get the smoke started.

Forget it, BJ!!! With DC making history, you might as well feed the Queen and her minions with "anything goes."

First things first, we feed those minions with "anything goes" then we get what we need.

So you want to wait 20 more years going from DC to a weirdo as Bond? 20 more years to purge Eon's disgraceful taste in Bond?

BJ....you said that if DC does the 4th Bond (which he will), to hell with the franchise. Based on this madness, it's better to feed those minions with anything goes free for all guidelines than to mix DC along with the 5 classic Bonds. If DC is consider a classic Bond, why not anyone else? And if DC's Bonds get Oscar nominations (not the to mentioned striking a billion), why not Bond films starring Sheamus or Idris as Bond? And what happen to what you said here before Skyfall was filmed?
FBF, you were AHEAD of ALL on the internet chat rooms on Bond's future with this Oscar award concept. You are a true visionary. Well done :!: Having a Cr-egg film win any award other than a Razzie would be proof positive that the Hollywood actors guild is a clueless crop of losers. It is all falling into place now. The artistically challenged green vegetable wants her day on the stage at the Academy Awards and she has been pushing her rubbish, film by film, and it will both culminate and end her morbid vacuous reign as the head of Eon after Mendes buries it at the box office. After all, does a podiatrist work on teeth? Does a vet work on humans(unless it's DC)? Does broccoli go with french fries? Do you mix peanut butter with maple syrup? Do you throw kerosene into a fire? Did Nash ever belong here? Do you make Moneypenny a man and call him 'pocket change'? So why would EON ever select Mendes to direct an action packed movie thriller of the greatest spy franchise in the history of the motion picture industry when he has ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO experience doing that? Could it be the missing puzzle to the green vegetable's ego, an Oscar award at the expense of her father's historic work? FBF knew it. Carrot Top, Roseann Barr, Chlorice Leachman, etc. could play Bond at that point for the damage will have been done. It will take the ousting of Barbara to undo the "killing curse" she has placed on the franchise and Jackman would be the "resurrection stone" to restore it to it's proper greatness, as is Harry Potter's franchise.
The damage is already done. That b1tch has already got away with her ego, thinking she's better than anyone else. In this case, forget James Bond, but we can still honor the original 20 Bonds. Besides, there's always Star Trek and Star Wars. With Disney, Lucas' creation may follow the James Bond route as in movies releasing periodically, but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't be offend, I don't see the need. There are kick ass back guys i / we can look up to ,same with Chinese and kick ass females they all maed their own roles. To make them be Bond I think would diminish the role and themselves.

Its not cutting edge it trying to be different to be different, kind of why Craig got the job IMO.It'd be like Burt Reynolds getting the job, yeah he is white but he is not right for the role. COuld he do a better job acting than name whoever here, maybe but it don't make him a good fit.

Bond is one of the few series people go back to the original books and try to make a case. Before QOS sucked so bad everyone though Bond needed to be Bourne, then Batmen Dark Knight. Eventually they have to get back to being Bond again just to be fresh.

None of this makes any sense.

Give me a new proper Bond combined with getting back to Bond stories and I'll be happy. Don't care who gets the credit or make money off it.

I even gave the franchises some money buy the old Classic movies, they were on sale for $7.99 so I doubt much was made but d**n it I'll pay for to see Bond on the big screen whenever that is. People reading this are going to assume we don't like /care about Bond and want the series die, I don't I want new movies in the classic Dalton/Brosnan, Connery model, staring a man who does not look like the world oldest retired gym coach and most weathered looking rookie agent with three begins movies

The series ended in 2002 for us big O. This is an alternate reality now and is foreign to all things Fleming. If this madness by Broccoli goes unchecked, our own Sweeney might throw in the towel after Eon casts their 7th 007 and the world is shocked once again by an out of control inheritor of the franchise. As Dr. Zaius said to Taylor at the end of The Planet Of The Apes: "do not look for it Taylor........you may not like what you find"...........such might be the fate of the Bond world in 2021.

First things first, Babs need to go. But if she remains consultant like Lucas is for his Star Wars franchise, I'm fine with that. The franchise needs a cast and crew just like Batman Begins and Star Trek '09. If anything, it should the use the revived Dr. Who series as a model, and I'm not talking about Bond going sci-fi or anything.
I even gave the franchises some money buy the old Classic movies, they were on sale for $7.99 so I doubt much was made but d**n it I'll pay for to see Bond on the big screen whenever that is. The new in a classic Connery/Dalton/Brosnan is fine as long as you have the right actor.

So how come you're fine with a 5'8" blond actor as Bond, but not a black guy? Idris Elba is a good actor with a ton of charisma, weren't we constantly told that's the only thing that matters?

I've heard Craig is 5`11, and he doesn't look short to me on film when playing the role. His hair being blonde, well yes, I do have issues with that, it still irks me.

But eye colour and skin colour is the same as Fleming's description, so I can overlook the hair colour. Changing skin colour may not sound drastic to many, and some may call me racist for thinking otherwise, but the basis of Fleming's Bond is an old fashioned, Empire flag waving colonial relic, educated in Eton, and is white.

So would you accept a black Bond, Kris?
