That should tell you that EON's forcing the general audience into liking and paying to see Bond 23 through manipulation.Napoleon Solo wrote: ///The 69-year-old New Yorker said: “The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean. I can’t wait for people to see the movie because I think we’re making a very special Bond.”///

I hope it doesn't get to the point of recruiting Bond fanboys to try and get moviegoers to see Spyfail at gunpoint, but you never know.

DC's Bond are designed to corrupt the minds of the general public, especially the younger audience.

Depends on your definition of Bondian, BJ. It could be all-out OTT gadgets, outrageous stunts, bald-headed villains stroking cats in volcanoes Austin Powers style, with a smarmy Bond looking cool and composed throughout, giving off witty one-liners at the drop of a hat, tongue firmly in cheek.bjmdds wrote: Sweeney, saying that the trailer "doesn't look particularly Bondian" again puzzles me about you. This is a Bond film. Shouldn't it ALL look Bondian?
Or it could be something more along the darker, harder, violent aspects of the books, which is what I prefer to see. Right now this trailer doesn't really fit either Bond version, but does lean more towards the latter. And with recent noises made by Mendes and Craig regarding Fleming influences, I'm hoping the final film will deliver this.
Marketing films is a business in itself these days. Maybe the marketing team think they need to produce a teaser trailer which fits in with modern audiences grown up on Chris Nolan action flicks. Like I said earlier, the trailer I'm not that bothered about. As long as the end result is a decent flick which ties in with my vision of Fleming's 007, then I'll be happy, regardless of a teaser trailer which looks more Nolan inspired than Bond.

The Nolan-esque trailer is EON trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how much of Nolan's influences rub off in the final film, and whether it will enhance the movie or ruin it, as was the case with the Bourne influence on QoS.katied wrote:The Nolan-esque trailer is EON trying to keep up with the Joneses.
At least the action scenes in Nolan's movies tie in better with the vision for Bond, especially the snow sequence at the end of Inception.

The final trailer for The Dark Knight Rises had more humor (one joke, at the very end of the trailer) than Skyfall's teaser trailer (none). Maybe there will be humor in the final film of Skyfall, but it seems slightly unusual to have absolutely no humor in the trailer after all the talking points about there would be a lighter mood, etc.The Sweeney wrote:Agreed. Don't forget this is just the teaser trailer. I recall the first Dark Knight teaser being equally as bleak. I'm guessing the full SF trailer will reveal more to give us a better idea of the film. Who knows, it may even feature a 007 theme and a couple of one-liners to make it look more Bondian. Stranger things have happened......

Also remember that Casino Royale's teaser had no humor either, but the theatrical did. I believe Skyfall will be in tone with Casino Royale (which Mendes loved) but the humor won't be the main focus, just icing on the cake like Connery's films were.

Napoleon,I don't think the films should be a laugh riot, but I think that Spyfail's first teaser trailer says a lot.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I know it's the teaser trailer. One difference: During production of The Dark Knight Rises there weren't months of talking points about how much lighter in tone it would be compared with earlier entries. Skyfall did have those talking points (which were then followed by talking points about the movie being darker than usual). We'll see if the final Skyfall trailer, and final film, lighten up.The Sweeney wrote:Don't forget this is just the teaser trailer. I recall the first Dark Knight teaser being equally as bleak. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=60574 "Skyfall, the twenty-third installment of the James Bond film series, is set to be released on the 26th of October. As previously reported, Javier Bardem plays the villain-but-not-villain antagonist ("Who told you a villain is a bad person?").We've already seen one of Bardem's movie getups but, for whatever reason, he's been kept out of this official trailer which is pretty vague anyway. Premise-wise, all I know is that Bond's loyalty to M will be "challenged over secrets from her past" because Wikipedia says so.
"Secrets of her past," huh? This sounds like a plot that's been lifted from an old Thalia novela, but whateves. Anyway -- show us some Bardem!"

Glad to hear Lana Wood is doing better. Food allergies are a serious thing. I have one, but mine is easy to avoid, and I only really get a scratchy throat and nothing else.Still, I'm careful.

Happy memorial day sounds so inappropriate. I guess just take a moment to remember the fallen and the sacrifices made in the hopes a better tomorrow and a country worthy of it.
