When Cubby was going to sell Bond, he wasn't, but there were some who took his offer seriously and developed a plan. These guy were thinking ahead pre-planing up to ten movies before the first would be shot. Part of their plan was to buy up the Non-Fleming Bond books rights as a platform to work from. Relatively cheep to do so and with as much artistic license as needed to make the stories work.

At this time EON essentially had just used up the original Fleming material and were not thriving under the freedom to define the story themselves. However Cubby never intended to sell, maybe he couldn't, who'd pay him for half a franchise they couldn't get funding for or take wherever they wanted. The sad part is Bond history would be different and run by people who took producing movies seriously. Doesn't mean the movies would be any better and that the BO would have come back to life as it did with Brozza.

EON rushes into production half ready because they don't do due diligence before hand, somehow they land on their feet most of the time. When they hired Craig there was supposed to be a plan for a trilogy, what he was signed for, obviously they never had a trilogy. Hell they didn't have a plan for the sequel movie they're were supposed to originally drop in May 2008.

Amy Pascal didn't want Craig, she is part of the reasons he had a 24hr screen test and she was talking to Pierce about coming back a few weeks before Craig was anointed, presumably Craig was already signed at this point. Once the deal is done - announced they have to follow through enthusiastically. "There is no s**t like our s**t! Wait until you see our s**t! It's the s**t!"

A lot of dirty stuff happened leading up to CR. And Craig wasn't as innocent as people like to think. He has a bad rep for reason, same reason Hugh Jackman said he didn't like him.

I never knew that Mazer. Was this during their working together on Broadway?

The only non-Fleming novel I've read which I thought was any good, was Amis' Colonel Sun, but yes that was set in the 60's. I think it would be fairly easy to adapt that tale to modern times though.

The last 2 Bond novels have been complete garbage.

The worst I've ever read was " High time to kill " would of made a good short story
but dragging it out for a full novel was a mistake, It's the only Bond Book I've only
read once.
Putting bond back in the 60's is a cute idea ( But a huge expense ) I'd prefer The reboot
never happened and the series just carried on.

It was something Jackman resented Craig for from early in his/their career. He says they are good now, after Broadway.

Craig has been trying to improve his image after he got CR, I don't think he knew he had as bad a rep as he did/does. I think some days he over compensates on set. When someone is a starving actor there isn't much that seems wrong, when they make it, they find out lot of the little things they did made them enemies.

A third-rate book can make a first-rate film (Jaws, anybody?), i think the main reason they've never used the continuation novels is that they'd have to buy the rights to them, and it is simpler just to develop scripts from scratch.

George Lazenby, who played James Bond in On Her Majesty's Sercret Service, is outraged that the spy will be drinking Heineken in the new film Skyfall instead of the usual vodka martini.

TMZ reports that the producers behind the Bond flick secured a $45 million deal with Heineken, and Daniel Craig will be drinking the beer at some point in the film. Since the series' inception, Agent 007 has always ordered a vodka martini "Shaken, not stirred." In Casino Royale, Daniel Craig's bond ordered the drink - and when asked how he wanted it prepared, he snapped "Do I look like I give a d**n?"

Lazenby told the website that the filmmakers are breaking a sacred tradition, then took a swipe at the beer. "It's not the best beer out there, either."

I'm sure he'll have more than one drink. Bond's taste is very broad!

You may as well have Vinnie Jones as Bond. I'm getting really sick of people seeing Pierce as a whimsical Bond. If he is, that's EON's problem, not Pierce since he wanted a gritty Bond in the first place.

FBF, save your hard earned dough: "Midnight Update: MIB 3 didn't attract much interest at midnight, earning just $1.55 million from 2,233 locations. That's obviously nowhere close to The Hangover Part II's $10.4 million midnight start last Memorial Day weekend; more concerning, though, is that it doesn't compare favorably to past Memorial Day sequels Terminator Salvation and Sex and the City 2 (both around $3 million) either. Those movies debuted on Thursday, and wound up with five-day openings of $65.3 million and $51.04 million, respectively. Meanwhile, Chernobyl Diaries earned $525,000 from over 1,300 theaters at midnight."

http://blu.stb.s-msn.com/i/99/77C35DA22 ... F16AD8.jpg Broccoli
You'll find it difficult to locate another single food source with as much naturally occurring health-promoting properties as broccoli (benefits). A single cup of steamed broccoli provides more than 200 percent of the RDA for vitamin C (again, more than oranges), nearly as much of vitamin K, and about half of the daily allowance for vitamin A, along with plentiful folate, fiber, sulfur, iron, B vitamins and a whole host of other important nutrients. Broccoli contains about twice the amount of protein as steak (more high-protein foods).

Broccoli's phytochemicals fight cancer by neutralizing carcinogens and accelerating their elimination from the body, in addition to inhibiting tumors caused by chemical carcinogens. Studies show evidence that these substances help prevent lung and esophageal cancers.

Phytonutrients called indoles found in broccoli help protect against prostate, gastric, skin, breast and cervical cancers. Extensive studies have linked broccoli to a 20 percent reduction in heart disease risk. In Chinese medicine, broccoli is used to treat eye inflammation.

How much: If you can eat a little broccoli every day, your body will thank you for it. If you can't swing it, aim for eating it as regularly as possible. Like many other vegetables, broccoli provides fantastic nutrition both in its raw form and when it's properly cooked. The only problem is the one occupying Eon productions. That variety is a rancid waste.

FBF, in the film DH-2, why is the reborn Voldemort shown killing Lilly Potter when it was the original Tom Riddle at that point? A mistake by the director?

Tom Riddle was alive when Lilly was killed by him so why do the flashbacks show the reconstituted Voldemort killing Lilly?
