I hope so.

I won't know until I see it. It will have a long way to go to beat POS.

I think I can guess which option is going to win this poll.

The thing is, I find it really hard to tell from the contradictory statements emanating forth. One minute, Mendes or someone will say something that makes me think that this film might be quite good if it had starred Cavill (or another more Bondian actor) instead of Craig. The next day, someone else will say something that makes me think that it will be POS all over again.

Re: Will Skyfall be the worst Bond film?
If shaky cam and political messages form the directors are the worst parts of QOS then Spyfall should be better. If it a non-Bondian tone and story then it might be right up there with QOS. Killing off another female that is supposed to mean something to Bond is lame. How many bites at the apple do they want?
From what is said I think Craig and others mean classic by they are creating a new classic not building a movie that feel classic like GE. IMO the problem will be Mendes, Craig and Barbara want to make a new kind of emo driven Bond series which isn't what Bond was. What they are saying sounds like what they were saying about QOS. But when anyone says WFT they are like nooo its classic. Everyone in the movie says it a serious film, even though Eon is saying it a lighter tone more humorous. I think people are going to leave Spyfall saying bring back James Bond 50 years later it Connery everyone thinks of its sort of what everyone want to experience again for the first time. It’s a place that director Marc Forster said evokes Bond’s “isolation and loneliness.”
“He is an assassin, he is a secret agent, and that reflects a certain lifestyle, which is lonely,” said Forster.
Forster, the youngest-ever Bond director at 39, was hired on by longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson because of his emotionally intense films like Monster’s Ball and The Kite Runner.

That's a good point as QOS was so awful and seemed unfinished so Skyfall (or SF!) will have to be really bad to be worse than QOS.Kristatos wrote:I won't know until I see it. It will have a long way to go to beat POS.

It WILL be really bad. This looks like the Titanic for Eon, and I mean the actual ship, not the film, right FBF(FSTF)?

Titanic was supposed to flop it didn't it gave Pierce hard time, the ship was supposed to be unsinkable and nobody thought anything could happen so maybe the unsinkable Spyfall will humble the Bond franchise.bjmdds wrote:It WILL be really bad. FSTF? I wouldn't go that far. It's just Khan rehashing I'm not happy about. Besides, there's a chance that Ben may not be him, judging from those stills.

Re: Will Skyfall be the worst Bond film?
Yes. I think the factors are coming together for a "Bond" film of ungodly awful proportions. First you have Craig returning as Bond. Then you have Sam Mendes as director, who treats all his projects with overelaborate pretention. Then you have Thomas Newman as composer. Newman's not terrible, but his work with Mendes always has a New Age feel that's totally devoid of energy. Mix in M playing her Mommy dearest role to the hilt, "revelations about Bond's parents" and doubtlessly painful line-readings by Craig of the few jokes worked into the script to placate fans angry about QOS, and you have all the makings of an epic disaster. Hell, that teaser poster says it all. The chattering classes may like it, but it looks sh---y and doesn't communicate any of the excitment audiences expect from Bond.
And yes, I think this movie will be worse than CR or QOS. CR has Craig in the lead and is too d**n long, but if you treat it as 2-3 movies that somehow got spliced together, it works as a generic film. QOS works as a mindless government conspiracy Jason Bourne clone. Neither are but both have entertainment value for those who aren't particular. This new venture looks like it has no Fleming material to boost it up, as CR did (and CR also had Martin Campbell to give it some quality points), nor does it have the kind of fast running time or non-stop action QOS did. It looks to be utterly pretentious, an arthouse Bond film whose action scenes and stunts have no wit or creativity about them, only endless repeatings of Craig shooting people and running through locations in different parts of the world in his ludicrously tight suits. Then tinkling piano music will play as he thinks about his parents and M. Hopefully it will make audiences puke and spell for the Craig era.

Re: Will Skyfall be the worst Bond film?
It does indeed. It looks far worse than the other two. A lot of shots looked ripped straight from The Dark Knight. The CR and QOS teasers at least managed to show an appealing side of those movies. This . . . looks like Christopher Nolan ought to be contacting his lawyer. Just awful.

Re: Will Skyfall be the worst Bond film?
Sadly a lot of people are still praising that crap and thought I was insane for liking Brosnans bond and calling him the last true one, got 9 thumbs down and three thumbs up but it looks like a few more comments are swaying our way & want this to end.FormerBondFan wrote:Let's hope it will begin with the first trailer.A Crag-like face wrote:Hopefully it will make audiences puke and spell for the Craig era.
Again avengers trailer is how you hype audiences, emotional driven psychological films only work well if it's Nolan, bruce became batman almost an hour in in batman begins, tony stark became iron man in half an hour yet dc still isn't bond after 2 films & he's still staying on .
Exc goldeneye and a bit of ohmms I never gave a monkeys about bonds past, that's what makes him bond, he's a man of mystery (like the doctor in doctor who's meant to be a mysterious time travelling alien we know little about), that's what makes these characters great, we don't want to relate to them, we want them to go on crazy journeys, fighting evil & doing what they do best ie entertain us.
Maybe if we're lucky this bond will get so depressed by the end of sf he'll put a gun to his head and do us all a favour and then the real bond steps in, we've almost been forcefed a decade of this crap, enough is enough , bring bond back.
Bond....James bond....Rest in peace (1964-2002)

I always see Bond as a man of mystery who reveals very little of his past.shaken not stirred wrote:Exc goldeneye and a bit of ohmms I never gave a monkeys about bonds past, that's what makes him bond, he's a man of mystery (like the doctor in doctor who's meant to be a mysterious time travelling alien we know little about), that's what makes these characters great, we don't want to relate to them, we want them to go on crazy journeys, fighting evil & doing what they do best ie entertain us.

Doubtful, it could be the best Bond film since Live and Let Die!
