A parallel Earth CR '06 which went with Purvis and Wade's original idea for the script, not involving a reboot, and which cast a more Bond-like actor (perhaps second-choice Sam Worthington, though since I have yet to see Mr. Worthington act, I can't really comment on his suitability as Bond) would probably rank at no. 3 on my list.

I can't decide whether I would have liked Casino Royale with another actor. I probably would have enjoyed it as normal; but Casino was very different from the other Bonds, and I felt it was a bit flat.
Bring back Bond!

Casino Royale is probably a story that isn't very well suited for a motion picture, apart from everything else that was wrong with it.

And if it had been made earlier, say in the 80s, it would most likely have been a completely different Bond film story-wise. Not much would probably have been retained from Fleming's book.

It's really fortunate that the most cinematic of Flemings novels were filmed in the 60s when Bond films were at their creative peak and the whole phenomenon was new and fresh.

Only pity that OHMSS wasn't Connery's final film, with Young as director.

It's very hard to agree with you when CR has done so well at the BO and with the majority of critics. It looks like it has succeeded very well as a motion picture, even if you personally didn't like it.

It's funny really, it's seems that whatever the producers attempt the result is at least a commercial success.

If they would make Craig's next film in the style of Moonraker it too would probably be an instant hit.

Nothing matters, as long as it's Bond the mainstream audience is happy

Bump.
Anyone else want to list how the Bond films rank?
Instead of spamming pictures of alternate versions of Connery as James Bond.
