If EON cannot rely on OTT locations and crappy CGI, they are going to have to think more creatively, in terms of story, etc. to keep the viewer interested.
I actually think is far better news than EON boldly stating `we are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this one....more money than sense', etc.
They have a track record of messing things up when money is no object - DAD and QoS.
You know I would be the first to cheer a reasonable downsized budget, if this is what is happening here. EoN has talked out of Both sides of their mouth on this MGW said the budget is the same for SF as QOS, for 3 to 4 months everyone else has said locations are being gutted because the money is not there.

It is different when a £3 million GBP production like the
The Sweeny turns to the yobbos at
Top Gear for the road stunt, 007 is a billion dollar franchise and EON is a major Hollywood production co. looking like amateurs who are despertly cutting back at the very last moment which alone is concerning.
Using second units to captures the exotic location and green screening them in as some reports have it, is not a bad thing, DAD, CR and & QOS had too much money thrown at them. CR even thou majorly scaled back combined with a ton of favours and cheap locations utilized still cost more than DAD. The money is going somewhere but it has not been 'on the scree' for a long time, if these cutback are real and the director is smartly using what limited budget he has then even if the movie fails on whatever front (critical, BO, story, fan reaction, Daniel turning to dust

) it may revitalize the 007 franchise with smart movie making skills.
The one point I keep coming back to is MGW saying SF has a GF feel to it bothers me a lot because we have seen no reason for his belief in evidence anywhere else. Also it bothers me MGW thinks Bond is an anti-hero what does that say about the movie they are making when 'Cubby' and Ian were going in the completely opposite direction 50 years ago.

It can work so far when they (EON) turn to CGI and other editing gimmicks in the (recent) past it has always come out halfarsed. CR was nitpicked quicker than QOS and DAD for the errors in editing and mistakes on screen.

It rather depends on your level of trust in EON. I think most of us wonder whether they're even capable of thinking creatively, and fear that the result will just be a bargain-basement Bond.
Most of us lost our faith in the franchise in 2005, those here who believed EON's promises Bond was not changing lost what little trust was left November 2006.
