CR hasn't aged as well as some of the other Bond films have. Nearly 5 years on and it looks-dare I say it-dated.

I think TWINE is a masterpiece compared to QoS and I consider it far from being one of the worst Bond movies. Maybe because, for starters, it actually had James Bond in it But we've been over this already.

Anyway, I really don't want to say anything one way or another about the movie before having some ACTUAL official news. And I don't think I have, I kept it down to impressions, and so far they're not good. If it's another disaster and horrid movie like QoS, then we will all be in big trouble.

I agree on Logan, not my cup of tea. And I am not satisfied about the director (Mendes) either, not because of who he is, but because of the type of movies he's done and his absolute inexperience when it comes to a pure action flick. I loved American Beauty but I want to see NOTHING like that in a Bond movie. The problem is that it's not too soon to form an opinion.. it's WAY too late for them not to have anything confirmed.

It's not about having a tight lid on things... there's no way official casting news are kept THIS secret, by any franchise, including Bond. I have many friends who are BIG agents/PRs in Hollywood and by now if anyone had signed anything to star in Bond 23, word would have been out. Not just unofficially, but officially, too. The only thing they can make people sign disclosure agreements for is the role they have/ plot/content of the movie. Nothing else. Nobody can make anyone sign a "you can't say you have been cast in this movie for x months" clause. Because that type of news is what generates buzz for the actors and makes them get more work. Nobody would ever accept that type of clause. Both agents and actors work and get more work based on that buzz. (not to mention it's much-needed free publicity for the movie, too). Also, there's no way to keep it that secret anyway, contracts land in the hands of a lot of people, and a lot are involved in the process (not like Babs and the actor are the only two seeing the contract, there's a whole bunch of people at other levels in production who will see and deal with different aspects). Actors won't be able to disclose anything about the plot and their character based on disclosure agreements, but that's where it ends.

So the fact as of now there is absolutely zero official casting news just means the negotiations are extremely difficult and they've got nobody officially signed on yet. That's just the way it works in the business, it's not something that EON can change.

I could of sworn that say a couple of months ago the film trade paper 'Variety' had an article saying Javier Bardem had accepted the role to play the villian in Bond 23.............or has the news got scrambled up somehow?

I have to wonder if they've put out feelers to several people and they said "No", not wanting to be involved with the Bond franchise, such as it is(and who can blame them? )

When we do get some info on Bond 23.........it will be interesting to see what figure is quoted for the budget of the film, as that will give some indication, i'd imagine of the confidence of the film studio in being able to get its money back!

I can't believe anyone is still trying to defend QOS. * That must be one of the worst films I have ever seen in my entire life. I watched some of Casino Royale the other night on television and it hasn't aged well at all. The bit at the end where Daniel Craig (with a collar so high it looks like he's got no neck) mumbles the "Bond, James Bond" line with his buzz cut hairstyle is one of the funniest scenes in the history of cinema. I'm sure Eon will cobble together something soon regarding Bond 23. Casino Royale started shooting in January and they only announced who was playing Bond in October.

I could of sworn that say a couple of months ago the film trade paper 'Variety' had an article saying Javier Bardem had accepted the role to play the villian in Bond 23.............or has the news got scrambled up somehow?

Variety never gave out any official news about Bardem. In fact, neither him nor Fiennes who have both been associated with Bond 23, have been cast at all. I actually think the ones reporting about him being approached originally were the usual super-informed people at deadline.com The rest just followed but never has there been any report that he had signed on to be on Bond 23. If you do a search on Variety stay assured nothing will pop up about Bardem having signed a deal to be in Bond 23...

I think the budget is around $150 mln, or at least that is what was talked about at first. Nobody sane at MGM would ever agree to any more than that.

I just remembered Sark on Alias is actually in a straightjacket in an episode (and since he's the bad resourceful smart guy, he escapes ) I didn't realize the reference was so fitting when I posted it

If James Bond were actually in it he wouldn't have fallen so easily over a one night stand. One of the worst portrayals of Bond pussy whipped. Most embarrassing is his "ha, I caught you!" scene where he tries confronting Elektra after breaking into her villa like a teenage boy trying to get back at his bitchy ex instead of immediately alerting M and MI6 of his suspicions (would have prevented the M-as-hostage nonsense).

That's why I like a certain scene in DAD. Frost reveals herself as the traitor. Does Bond become emotionally troubled for a whole movie? No, he just pulls the trigger on the spot. THAT is James Bond. I wish Brosnan were more like that in his previous films.

My only problems with the portrayal of Bond in QOS is how little he tries to defending himself like when M accuses him of murdering a special branch agent.

Eh, with the banning of Nash, I think we got rid of the truly crazy pro-Craigs. Harsh? you know it's true.

I'm not a pro-Craig, I'm a Bond fan. If I was ever pro anything it would be for Connery but I'm not that staunch.

My main problem is there's no James Bond whatsoever. Not in his looks (at all) not in his manners (at all) least of all in his actions (at all). That's Jason Bourne in QoS, not James Bond. And the whole movie has a RIDICULOUS plot that makes no sense whatsoever, possibly the weakest villain ever seen in a Bond movie and also the two most insignificant Bond girls ever. Only Eva Green was worse than that, and she was given the best Bond girl ever to portray. At least Olga Kurylenko is beautiful, one of the characteristics they seem to have forgotten for Bond girls, alongside with elegance and class for the good ones. The bad ones can be tacky, but they always had some elegance to them regardless. All gone, together with James Bond who hasn't been showing up in this franchise ever since Daniel Craig took over the role.

I LOVE the scenes with Elektra in TWINE. Love.

We will agree on Dalton though. I did enjoy him as Bond and I have very special, fond memories of LTK. Pam Bouvier under my name isn't a coincidence

Nah..and FWIW, Stocks and I have agreed to disagree on a lot of things..I think maybe the straitjacket picture is a *touch* unfair.

I see plenty of Bond in QOS. When it comes to looks the only thing that really sticks out is that he has blond hair, otherwise he looks like how Fleming describes as a man with cold hard looks. Mannerisms? Which exactly?

One Bondian moment I'll point to is when he's escorted to a shitty looking hotel by Fields. He steps in for a couple of seconds and walks out never looking back "suit yourself, I rather be in a morgue". After checking in a five star hotel suite he bangs Fields. Swagger, snobbery and sex.

My favorite Bondian moment with Craig is probably after he wins the poker game and immediately has a late night dinner with Vesper. That's not Jason Bourne. Bourne would order at a diner with his hoodie up.

And the whole movie has a RIDICULOUS plot that makes no sense whatsoever

The Bolivian water scheme? Lowkey but I wouldn't call it pure nonsense. TWINE, now that has a lot of nonsense. Like Cigar girl shooting at Bond from her boat just to start another mundane Vic Armstrong action sequence ripping off better boat chases from the Roger Moore films.

I'll admit that Greene was too underdeveloped but I wouldn't tag him as the weakest. Blofeld in YOLT, Stromberg, Carver, Renard, Elektra, Graves I consider far weaker.

Oh please. Worse than Goodnight, Triple X, Bibi, Stacey, Paris, Elektra, Christmas Jones and especially Jinx? Ridiculous. I don't think Vesper and Camile rank among the classic Bond girls. In fact I don't think there really has been a classic Bond girl since probably OHMSS. I'd rank them along with Pam and Natalya in the better modern Bond girl category.

Since DC screwed over Satsuki and married Rachel, things went extremely quiet with Bond 23. Could the boiled green veggy have buyer's remorse on her boy toy, to the point his quickie marriage left her out in the cold? In regard to Dominic Greene as a villain, following Mads portrayal of Le Chiffre, what couch should one rest on to prepare them for a quick somber sleep watching those two on film? Watching BOTH are cures for insomnia. Bond girl Britt Ekland got it right when she told my group she does NOT like Cr-egg as Bond at all. She knows her onions.
