And then there's the distinct lack of any sort of news about Bond 23..and they're supposed to start filming in 2 months? :^o):
That's just insane... I don't know what the hell they're doing but it sure is nothing good. Any self-respecting production would have had official casting news out for MONTHS now, considering they're filming in less than 2 months. Ridiculous.
Either they are keeping a tight lid on how well the development is going, or nothing is actually happening yet and the whole thing will be another messy rushed job. I hope its not the latter....
Hi  As tight as the lid may be, it's never (for anyone) so tight as for casting news not to be released, for two reasons. A)the agents wouldn't deal with it as this is publicity for their clients and actors work mainly based on how they fare and what type of movie they're booked for, no way they'd agree to not say a word after a contract has been signed for their client to star in a Bond movie, and even if they agreed to keep it secret for a while, it SURELY would be out now because we are LESS than two months away from filming B)not even production of the movie would want that because especially now they NEED the publicity bad. There are set photos of the Superman movie taken by fans. Between that and no news whatsoever there's an enormous gap, and it makes no sense whatsoever. Plus trust me, if ANYONE had been officially cast we'd have known for a while via the grapevine, if not officially. There's no way anything has been signed if absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, has been officially announced by anyone. That is the most bizarre thing about this movie. Filming in less than two months, no finished script (Craig himself said a couple of weeks ago they had something like "the bones" or "the shell" of a very good script, meaning there is NO script, just outlines at best) and absolutely nobody cast. The Superman casting news were MONTHS ago for the main people and they kept flowing. They're WAY ahead of schedule, and I realize organization is NOT a prerogative of EON, but this is just too much even for EON and a Bond movie. I think that sadly your second option is by far the most likely at this point. So we get another QoS

According to the twitter feed of the 3 time 007 Production Manager Terry Bamber, his work will "God willing" begin on James Bond 23 in August 2011. It is expected that shooting will commence in November 2011.

Bamber has worked on three 007 productions: Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace as 2nd Unit Production Manager.

Except both Craig and Dench have said filming was supposed to start in October? They're changing already?

I read his Twitter and there's nothing of the sort, not in recent times. I read back his tweets up until the end of May. However, there IS stuff that goes in a very different direction. The last tweet he has regarding Bond is on Aug.2.
Someone asked him:
"me too. All d best 4 ur future as wel. Btw, wats ur next projects?"
and he replied:
"might be Bond 23".
So he doesn't even know IF he will be working on the movie, as of 18 days ago. As in, a little over two weeks ago, with principal photography starting in October, they don't even know WHO will be the 2nd unit production manager!? (this guy is also an assistant director btw). Are you kidding me?
More information from him based on tweets he got and replied to. This is from July 28
Someone asked:
"it seems unlikely I would go to UK...how about we meet in the middle - Mumbai? ;) specifically, Mannat... xx"
He answered:
"brilliant - touch wood we will be there for 3 months January 2012 on the next Bond"
So, as of July 28 it's ALSO not at all sure they will be filming on location in January 2012, with a movie coming out in October?! Something is up. And not of the good kind. The answers this dude gives (updated then with the above-mentioned Aug. 2 tweet where he states he DOES NOT KNOW, since he says his next project MIGHT be Bond 23) show that there is absolutely nothing certain about the movie ongoing (not that this is news to us but this is direct confirmation from someone involved).

Uhm, and he has another tweet to someone asking him "who's the current Bond? I lost track after Roger Moore" (excuse me while I )
And he answered: "Daniel Craig!!! He is terrific" So I don't exactly trust the judgment of this dude!

Whatever the case, he doesn't even know if he'll be working on Bond 23. And it's August. Unreal.

My (not entirely serious) prediction: Bond 23 will be entitled A Steady Rain and be based on the stage play of the same name, rewritten to be a two-hander between Craig's Bond and Dench's M.

LOL seriously though, it's a more likely event than all of us would like to believe! I can't believe the mess this movie is shaping up to be. It for sure already is from the organizational point of view...

Odds Bond 23 is delayed, recast, and pushed back to 2013 with DC gone? 6/5? 2/1? 10/1? 20/1? 50/1?

Has Ben Whishaw Been Cast in James Bond 23?
A few are starting to realise things are not as good as we are told to believe.
Over the last few months, there's been plenty of rumors and very few confirmations about who might be appearing in Sam Mendes' upcoming and untitled James Bond movie currently dubbed Bond 23.

Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes are still being considered for two unnamed leads, but one name we haven't heard mentioned but who seems to already be attached is actor Ben Whishaw
It goes on to say Naomie Harris is rumoured, meaning not confirmed and make a note of how close shooting date is coming up. They already pushed it back from what I've read from October to November!

I am afraid if they do not crank out this movie out on scheduled the situation will completely crumble behind the scenes. A real hullabaloo.
If Bond 23 with Daniel sputters to a halt as it seems to be doing from the outside I doubt they dust off and be hard at work to have Bond 23 back with a new actor by 2013 or 2014 if only becuase Barbara is so influential to the decisions being made, if she is not happy and infighting ensues I can see this being the death of the cinematic Bond for a bloody long time. It does not have to be however it is what I fear might happen if Daniel movie is not made, it can also be what happens is Bond 23 with Daniel fails to be a proper smash hit.

I think the tweet from that dude was very old so he probably didn't know the date. I read his tweets back to the end of May and there was no tweet saying it was November so I think it may have been before they said what was going to happen. Either that, or he had to delete the tweet because he was told not to reveal things were already being pushed. Still, the fact he referenced not being sure at all whether they'd be in India filming from January 2012 for three months means they literally have absolutely nothing set. Uhm, I'd like to know, didn't they learn anything with QoS? :o 'cause THAT is how late they were filming with QoS, AND we saw the results. Also, India doesn't exactly seem ideal as the main location for a Bond movie. Three months of filming there means the vast majority of the action takes place there.

Not everyone is so naive as to believe that rumors floating around equal news, so these people are finally having the decency of saying "uhm, what's going on? because there's rumors and no news". I really am confused over how they're handling this. Much as they are monkeys, something like this is quite unprecedented. Even QoS was in better shape in terms of casting and organization at this point

Actually if this doesn't go it's because Babs has been finally ousted and because dissent toward her finally won. So if they decide to not do this (I don't think it's going to happen but just in theory) it's because Sony and MGM have had it their way and they'll film the movie with another actor. Problem is that I think they WILL go ahead with this and given how they are not doing their job properly, it could be a lot of damage for the franchise all the same.

It isn't looking good, that's for sure. November now, instead of October? This is not going to end well.Mark my words: Bond 23 will be a hot mess.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ben Wishlaw in a Bond film(probably a rumour, just as some have said). BBC America showed the first episode of The Hour on Wednesday.I TiVo'ed it but haven't got around to watching it yet.

I notice that they've taken the "Secret Of The Unicorn" off of the title of the Tin Tin movie.I have to wonder if they did some focus groups, because the people that do those are the sort who will be honest about what they don't like about the movie.

Well we've all been saying for a while that this is not shaping up to be good... but, I still hold out hope that somehow they won't tank the franchise with this. And I take no joy in seeing a horrid (non) Bond movie being made, so really much as I won't like it (Craig isn't Bond so there's no way for me to like it) I hope it doesn't tank the franchise. I'm sure it won't do well, but I don't want it to be a stinking bomb.

I don't want the Bond franchise to go down in flames. But I think a Bond film that turns out to be an Epic Fail(in several senses of the word) might be just what EON needs to wake up and smell the coffee.Or not.

I thought the curse ended in 2004 ;)

My thoughts on Bond 23:

I'm taking a more "wait and see" approach to it. I'm not about to slate it as an epic failure because of EON keeping a tight lid on it. When it finally comes out I'll then make that judgement. What do I think so far? Well the prospect of having Roger Deakins shooting the flick has me most intrigued. I'm skeptical of John Logan though. All in all there's too little to really be sure of how the film itself will turn out.

If it turns out to be a QOS 2.0, fine by me. It's a problematic flick but in the grand scheme of the 22 films it's slightly above average and harmless to the series. Neither great like FRWL nor atrocious like TWINE. Bond films haven't been consistently great since the Connery era, it might be awhile before another great entry like CR is brought to the table so for now I can only hope for a decent entry on the same level of FYEO and LTK.

I've just seen C&A today..........so here's my review.

Not a bad film actually, nothing special, but it was far more watchable than Craigs last Bond film QOS.

The Western aspect of the film was pretty good actually, for the first half hour of the film.............then out of nowhere we get the Alien invasion, its then the film changes course and the Cowboys try to rescue their loved ones who have been captured by the Aliens, which are hideous looking large toad like creatures who have come to earth to dig up the gold in the desert (which they need for some unknown reason). Anyway not too bad a film.
DC has by far the most screen time, and plays the Cowboy role with an attempt at an American accent.
Harrison Ford was ok but he played second fiddle to Craig in this film, and he's certainly looking his age now.
The film could of done with a bit more humour, and the sci-fi bit was a little naff.

As this was the opening weekend in the UK for the film, the theatre i was in was only half full, not very good really............considering there were queue's of people waiting to see the 'Apes' film which was in its second week of release here.

Overall, i think C&A will make a modest sum overseas, but the film could of been so much more.

Anyway...............when are we going to get some bleedin news on the next Bond film?
