Cr-egg brings no vitality or excitement to the role and continuing the mother-son complex between lady M and Bond where she belittles his stupidity constantly is NOT something Bond fans want any part of any longer. If Cavill takes over, they cannot reboot the storyline again so he will then have to be an experienced Bond. The entire strategy of Broccoli is a farce! An old looking novice Bond will wind up being replaced by an experienced youthful looking actor. Nonsense. So why even make only the 3rd Cr-egg film in 10 years? I cannot stand Barbara Broccoli's arrogance to the fans. She thinks we will come out and watch any pile of celluloid she puts out just because it has the Bond logo on it. Did she forget 1987 and 1989? The 'eggster' is yesterday's news. Let's be done with his travesty interpretation of Bond already. It's time for MGM to tell MGW to buy out his half-baked sister's stake in Eon! What say yee Arthur?
I think if Cavill takes over, they will either A)Pretend Craig's reboot never happened or B)reboot the reboot much like they are doing with Spiderman and, ahem, Superman. Clearly they can't go on in the same direction. And that applies basically to anyone who takes over since it seems clear at this point that it will be someone younger and much more traditionally Bond-like. It's such a ridiculous concept, this whole art reboot. I agree the problem is Babs is too arrogant to stop and think that people will NOT buy whatever crap she is trying to sell. Especially not after QoS. But apparently she needs a slap in the face or something. MGM really should get more aggressive (not that they aren't at odds with Eon already, what with the whole "Production is halted"- Babs and MGW "HELL NO it isn't" -MGM.) in trying to solve matters. MGW is the only one having heirs who can take over the empire, so it would definitely make sense for them to buy Babs out. Given both the duo in charge AND the new MGM President have "The Count of Monte Cristo" as one of the main hits they produced, AND that was one of the first big leading roles for Henry Cavill, I'd say things are shaping up in the right direction. But when Babs is around, one just never knows.
I don't think they are changing direction from QOS the keywords are "nuanced" & "intriguing". Mendes is going to be a disaster because he thinks he is better than he is. It is like we were talking about when QOS came out they made an art house film when they were suppsoed to be making a BOND MOVIE. Mendes is talking about a prestige film and making his mark on Hollywood that is not good combination for Bond. An action director even with a bad script could make a movie worth watching.
Of course, but Babs hired Mendes instead. And MGM isn't in the position to argue right now since they need the movie out ASAP. Except they risk not making any profit with it, and that would be disastrous. I honestly don't have much hope for Bond 23 as things stand. I am anyway hoping it won't be a disaster, they can't afford a disaster. And we cannot either.
