Alice in Wonderland. A partial return to form for Tim Burton, but loses its way in the third act. I may review it in more depth later, I dont feel like writing a long post right now.

Alice 2 in the one movie whos ad completely turned me off it. I'd be interested in what you thought of it even though I am not a fan of Tim Burton.

If you're not a fan of Burton, this movie isn't going to convert you. It very much displays Burton's major weakness, a tendency to let the visuals overwhelm the story, as well as his biggest strength (his ability to create sympathetic outsider heroes). You're better off renting Ed Wood, (Burton's most restrained movie, but also one of his most personal) instead.Dr. No wrote:Alice 2 in the one movie whos ad completely turned me off it. Tim Burton's films are enjoyable, although I did prefer the Gene Wilder Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Bring back Bond!
Re: The Last Movie You Watched
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! That one certainly brings back memories. Scary world Mr. Wonka inhabited, I wonder if it would still be considered a film safe for school children today.
Re: The Last Movie You Watched
I prefer Tim Burton's Willy Wonka for some reason. *shrug*

I was hoping you would tell me it was worth while , but... I appreciate the honest opinion more.Kristatos wrote:If you're not a fan of Burton, this movie isn't going to convert you. My kids loved Alice in wonderland well still do. When they were around 1 1/2 - 2 years I put it on for them. Our eldest was mesmerized by the singing and funny cartoon creatures. Everyone of them has loved it and I sort of wish the new Alice despite looking creepy in the commercials would be worth watching.

Kick A$$-best line? Hit Girl(talking about what she wants for her birthday) "Can I get a puppy and a Bratz movie star makeover Sasha?"(a beat)"I'm just f'ing with you".(but she says the actual word!)

Re: The Last Movie You Watched
Just seen The Lives of Others, which I DVR'd some time ago. A must-see German film about an East German Stasi officer in the days of Communism slowly turning from a loyal cog in the machine to a fully rounded human being. Don't wait for the Hollywood remake (due next year, I believe), which will inevitably not be as good.

Hmm..I watched The Lives Of Others and didn't care for it.
Speaking of remakes, there is going to be an American/Canadian remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, with Carey Mulligan(An Education) playing Lisbeth Salander.

Prime Cut. It stars Lee Marvin whi is hired to get money off a strange farmer played by Gne Hackman. It reminded me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacare.

Actually it's two James Bond Vampire movies Hollywood has in the works. Blood Oath and the follow up story Black Sitekatied wrote:That could be epically good or epically bad.Probably bad.Dr. No wrote:I heard they are going to be making a James Bond like Vampire movie
Hollywood is developing a movie based on a book about a vampire-turned-super spy for the U.S. Government, according to our fellow movie fans at The Hollywood Reporter's HeatVisionBlog.
Producer Lucas Foster (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) optioned the novel Blood Oath and its in-process sequel, Black Site, from author Christopher Farnsworth.
Blood Oath follows Nathaniel Cade, a James Bond-ish vampire, captured during the Civil War, who is forced to swear an oath to serve the government, starting with Andrew Johnson's presidency. Since then, this Vampire 007 has served in the Secret Service for every U.S. President.
The film will feature Cade paired with a new human handler (think Giles) as he finds himself in a plot involving a monstrous new form of biological weaponry.

Just got done watching Cloverfield on TV. An imaginative post 9/11 twist on the classic Big Monster movie, but with one of those frustrating, ambiguous endings that leaves you thinking "is that it?"

We took all the kids (ours and those with us at family get together) to The Last Air Bender. Nobody was happy with it. The kids were excited about from the cartoon on Nic. I don't know hope they don't make the sequels:(
