Butler: 'I'd love to play James Bond'
WENN
Gerard Butler has revealed that he would "love" the opportunity to play James Bond.
The actor, who has previously said that he would never take on the part of 007, has insisted that he would gladly accept the iconic role.
Speaking to Now, the 40-year-old said: "I'd love to play James Bond, but it's been said so often, so inaccurately.
"I was in my flat in London, wrestling with a busted shower, and I heard a news report that I was going to be 007. I thought: ‘If only it were true, but I have to fix this shower'."

I hoped he would be Bond. Maybe he is too old now.

Ironic that this comes a day or two after he was voted out on the Alternative Bonds game.

Let's put it this way. He wouldn't be the worst choice to take over from Daniel Craig.
He's known, without being a superstar. He's got a Bondian look, and he's not too young.
Though he's getting a little old now to make it a viable option. Especially after Craig has made Bonds 23 and 24.

Re: Butler: 'I'd love to play James Bond'
not long ago he was my choice. He impressed me with movies like the 300 where he is like a young active sean connery. after Seeing more of him and after watching some of the early BOnds and Goldeneye of the holidays I just can't see him as Bond.
If we are talkinga bout the kind of movies they are making now which really are not Bond in the sense of what they used to be then he would be a great choice. For instance I think CR would have been a better movie with Him. Craig was trying too hard to prove he wasn't a wussy and he over did it with the body building and other over the top physical stunts like running through a wall. Nobody would have made that mistake about Butler and they might not have thrown those scenes in the movie. however if Butler had done cr and they had kept depressed tone I wouldn't like any more than i already do, but I'd probably own the dvd where as I have no desire to see Craig's spy in CR again.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

He's nearly the same age as Craig so he'll be too old by the time they recast the role. I think he would have been an ok choice in 2005 but he has no chance now. You could tell he was a decent contender for Casino Royale because EON didn't allow him to test for the part.

The Klast James Bond website has news reports said Brosnan might not do Die Another Day -

If Pierce had stepped down before Die Another Day a young G. Butler or Clive Owen could have taken over.

Garard's wonky mouth puts me off. He's too old anyway.
Re: Butler: 'I'd love to play James Bond'
we should let he try.

Re: Butler: 'I'd love to play James Bond'
At the least, Butler has some respect for the character, which is a big plus. Even for those who don't like the Pierce, you have to admit he holds Bond in high regard as a character. Tombraider was bland. Angelina Jolie was of course sort of a female Bond ... she was OK in the action, the good looks dept., but didn't have the likability, where the audience say, OK, we're with you! As if she's too aware of her looks. I hardly recall Butler in the story. Dunno if he's too old, probably looks younger than Criedster. Of course, my grandpa looks younger than him.Blowfeld wrote:This story can be found at Butler: 'I'd love to play James Bond'Sunday, February 7 2010, 11:50am EST
