So, Bj. Still confident that this will not do as well as CR...?
We all knew it would be a front loaded event, especially with no competition. The fact that there are more screenings per day and ticket prices are 10% higher than 2006, I would have thought an ever bigger opening. The USA will do $52 million I bet next weekend, and then fall off a lot faster than CR did. A 40% UK drop is not pleasing to Eon, being it's Craig's home base of fanatical Craigaholics. Topping the $100 million mark again in the UK will not be easy and I still predict TBM will NOT top CR in the USA. $600 million worldwide, with the international market already post opening?

If I locate a DVD on the streets of NY I will see it prior to it's opening. If not, I might wait for Moneypenny's review before I throw out $12.00 to see it and wind up exiting the theatre 10 minutes into movie.

UK drop-off in 2nd w/end was less than was predicted, down about 40% to $15.1 for a total so far over $50 mil
There was a drop off though..just as several of us said there would be.
There's aleays a drop-off 'Katied' unless the films named 'Titanic'

Its just it was less than expected for an action flik.......though as i mentioned i would expect the drop-offs from now on for QOS to be bigger than they were for CR.

Not long now to see QOS in US!

AB
Just the same..there was a dropoff. No use trying to deny it

Oh and Titanic?I have never seen it.(and I plan to keep it that way)

So you still think QoS won't perform that well, and Craig will be booted out before Bond 23 starts filming...?

I went to see QoS with my parents and my misses at the weekend. My mum has never seen CR, so I stuck the last 20 minutes on, so she was familiar with the story. Her initial comments on Craig were `Hmmm! He's not very good looking is he. Pierce was much better looking.'

After coming out of the cinema, she says to my misses `Wow! He's so sexy isn't he. It's wierd, because he's not good looking, yet he's absolutely gorgeous.' And my misses agreed with her.

I guess this is what they determine as the `X' factor. You've either got it or you haven't. Judging by the daily praise women heap on him in the press and media, I'd say he has this. It's not something obvious to me. To look at, I'd say Pierce was better looking, yet my misses and my mum both now fancy Craig more, even though they admit Brozza is more conventionally handsome. If they think that, how many other women do too...?

Strange creatures, women....

Have we done the joke on this forum yet about how some women write to serial killers on death row?

Some women write to serial killers on death row. We have now.

Actually, the one good thing about Craig is that I can now watch a Bond film without having to trip over my wife's tongue. She really doesn't like Daniel - can't say the same for Pierce.

I can tell you that TBM will NOT top Madagascar's $63.5 million opening USA box office numbers. Any woman who finds Daniel Craig sexy is a puzzling entity to me.

The force is strong with you bj.
But I sense the dark side in you.
If Quantum Of Solace doesn't bring in a $63.5 million opening in the US does that make it an automatic failure?
I don't think so.
We've a longtime untill the final box office numbers are finalised months from now. Sit tight. This is where the fun begins.

'BJ'...........u forgot to mention ONE major point 'QOS' is opening in 600+ less theatres than 'Madagasgcar 2', of course
its not impossible for 'QOS' to reach $63.5mil opening, but a little unlikely. :D

Since the film has come out i have been reading all sorts of reviews on the film, and it certainly falls at both ends of the spectrum. Some people love it and some hate it.
From what i've seen and read, the general consensus is that the younger generation appear to enjoy the film more than
the oldies. Maybe its because younger people have been exposed more to this fast paced type of movie with its music-video style of editing.
Look forward to your review.....though i suppose it depends on whether you can sit down for an 1 hour 3/4 watching DC,
without foaming at the mouth!!

'Katied'..............what are you talking about?

I gave an honest review of the film.......just because i didn't dislike DC's performance in the film does not mean i havn't seen the light!!

ps: I don't want to go to 'Guyana' either!!

Arthur,Sweeney,I wasn't referring to you.

I just resent the idea that I should like the movie....... I am a "oooh BAD!" person if I don't.

Okey Dokey

Even though i eventually goT around to enjoying QOS......................it still annoys me and others (by reading posts
elsewhere) that the film somewhat ended a mess..............basically a $200 mil film was made but cut to pieces to look
like a $100 mil movie.
Anyway, Bond 23 will have a new director.........if the studio can get backing for the next film, amid this credit crisis.
