Most Bond films have had their fair share of bad reviews, CR was the exception. DAD got bad reviews, but that didn't affect it's BO takings one little bit....

even the good reviews have a lot of negitivity in them, they are more a half assed praise. Some still try to big up Craig , even though he is woefully miscast. They wont admit though!!bjmdds wrote:Not in all Stocks, I know you don't want to admit it. He is not PRAISED widely this time around. The big difference may be that DAD was a fun movie, QOS not so much, if the reports are accurate. The Sweeney wrote:Most Bond films have had their fair share of bad reviews, CR was the exception. DAD got bad reviews, but that didn't affect it's BO takings one little bit....
People enjoyed DAD enough that they bought the DVD in mass setting worldwide records 5 to 6 months later.
To get that the movie has to leave a lasting positive impression with the general movie goers, not the critics, not the Bond fans who site on high, little caesars voting yea or nae with thumbs up or down.

Badly miscast. Everything has to be reinterpreted to fit his ugly bond some how being the handsome movies start Fleming described and Brosnan, Dalton, Connery, Lazenby, Moore were.Milton Krest wrote:even the good reviews have a lot of negitivity in them, they are more a half assed praise. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Guess what?
I've just seen QOS...............and, at this moment i don't really know what to say..........
except that the reviews we have heard were correct.
QOS isn't as good as CR.
I will write a review when i have time to reflect, but my initial reaction is one of dissapointment,
not with DC, but of the film itself, generally a weak story, which was totally unengaging, but what annoyed
me most was the absymal editing of some of the action scenes by Forster and his assistants.
This could of been a truly excellent film...........but i think some of the best bits were left on the cutting room floor.
To be quite frank DC was just about the best thing in the film!!!
Forsters vision is certainly striking, and this is a very different film to CR................its just that Martin Campbell
knows how to direct Bond films from both an acting and action point of view.
I will certainly have to see it again just to try to capture the dialogue bits i didn't catch this evening.
The producers need to be more careful who they select as director in the future...............and i hope that this phase of super fast editing is soon dropped.
A very dissapointed.........AB

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
To be fair to Forster..............he wasn't given enough time to edit the film, and reflect on it before making changes.
Its a shame as the build up to the film in the UK was huge....................and the multiplex was packed out tonight.
My dissapointment might die down somewhat after another viewing of the film, as there are some splendid
scenes in it...........its just that after so much careful initial preparation on the film.............it was pasted together at the end very quickly with that awful title song..............though David Arnolds score is yet again
pretty good.
I'll be interested to hear what the 'Sweeney' thought on this film as i believe he's seeing it tonight!!!!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Right
I've seen some reviews from others at other Bond sites and they think mostly that the film is excellent, though
the shakey cam filming of some of the action scenes was a letdown, particularly the PTS sequence with the car chase
which was pretty incomprehensible.
Blimey........i must stop moaning, its probably due to the fact that this is a Bond film of a completely different tone than we
have seen before.
I think the reason a lot of the plot is missed somewhat on initial viewing is due to the lightening speed of the film, which moves at a frenetic pace from country to country.
From a character point of view:-
Daniel Craig as Bond:- Bond is in a murderous frame of mind in this film, and dispatches numerous villians in this film
with cold-blooded actions. As i said earlier DC really holds this film together.
D.Greene: The main villian is pretty good.
His henchmen though are pretty poor.
Other good performances in this film are from, Camille, Matthius and Leiter.
Fields has a very short part in the film.
Plenty of action in this film from car, bike, boat and plane chases................the plane chase was the better of the action sequences, not ruined by the split second editing.
Things in this film, which you wont of seen in previous Bonds: Bond hugging a man, and also an attemted rape scene.

Arthur, your UK buddy Sweeney's love affair with this reboot nonsense has put him into a Craig trance. Help him, please, for I now am worried about him. I am not surprised you found the film lacking.Arthur Brain wrote:Guess what?

What I've hear is the bits in the Trailers are better(visually & action sequences), clearer (story wise) than the movie.
Scary thing is they offered Forster Bond 23.

I did hear the the plane chase was pretty good. But over all the movie misses and screws up scenes that would've been decent.

The last movie to do that(and a big offender acccording to people who have seen it)was Cloverfield. Luckily the movie studios seem to be getting the message that it's old hat. That, and torture porn. But what with another Bourne film in the future, it will probably have a renaissance and probably will be in Bond 23. Or it could be very outre and they do it anyways.I hate the "Jerk Cam" crappola, it is way over used (recently anyway).
